Awesome staff! Feels like a small town grocery store. Isles are much wider than north island.

So I go to get my usual some sort of deli chicken to go to find that none of the chickens are labeled. The girl behind the desk doesn't know which is which because nobody labeled the chickens instead of being together like they should be their scattered. So then the third issue comes up is I say hey I would like... When I look around and there's no display of the sizes or the prices of the containers instead they're hidden behind the lids hidden behind the aisle on the far side away from the customer. If there was ever a customer service prevention person it is he or she who has set up this kitchen in a way that makes it difficult for me to find and buy food from you. All food needs to be labeled and it needs to be attached to the container food need to be kept together so all the new rules in the races are together and the chickens are together that way you prevent cross-contamination. Utensils in containers need to be much more forward to the customer so we can see what we're going to buy and find how we're going to eat. If this continues I'm just gonna onestar this place and never come back because this is like the fourth time I've had this problem and the management seems to be checked out to lunch permanently. read more

I love this place! Has many organic produce, great wine selection great food to go, and everything is on sale!

I've never felt a need to write a review for any of the QFC's I've been to, into today. I was in yesterday and picked out some items that needed refrigeration. Because we had to go to a quick dinner and then our son's school cover, I asked if the items could be placed on hold (as my QFC has offered to do so in the past). One person said yes, but I'd have to pay for the items first, which I thought was strange but did so anyway. Then I was given a receipt as proof of payment and another copy was placed on the bag, which I wrote my name on. At the end of the night, I came back to pick up the items and when asking one man who'd I speak to, he rudely said to ask another guy because he doesn't know if my items would still be there since I had paid for it and someone could have just taken it. He was extremely rude about it. I should have complained to the manager. The next man was very helpful and retrieved my items without incident. I question the integrity at this location though. It's an scary thought that someone would even consider another employee or someone would steal another person's groceries. 1 star for groceries, 1 star for the second man's service and 1/2 star for the storage of my groceries. read more

I'm not a local, but I stopped in yesterday to buy a cold drink and I got the feeling that this is the kind of place where you'll get to know all the staff and they'll go out of their way to help you. I heard friendly greetings, saw a bunch of smiling workers, and even the produce had that little extra sparkle. It was like a freaking commercial. The prices reflect the fact that you're on an island (albeit one with freeway access) and that they have to drive four miles off the beaten track to get there, but that seems normal for both QFC and Mercer Island, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Minus one star for prices. Parking is good; a big lot with some shade, and staffers offering to help people outside with big orders. read more

Best grocery store ever. The people here are exceptional, and I don't think most people even know it. In the wine department: Riley and Jeff do near nightly wine tastings of reasonably priced bottles. In the meat department: Barney and Tonya will cut you anything you want. Barney got us some Bone-in filets a few months ago, and on another occasion a 7# bone-in rib eye - exceptional! And over the holidays Tonya got my wife 12 turkey necks from which she made what I can only call a delicious turkey confit to accompany our thanksgiving dinner. Both just pleased they could help out - and do something interesting. I pop in at least 5 times per week for something or another, sometimes just to say hi.... I highly recommend getting to know the people there, you get so much more out of the place. No idea why QFC doesn't leverage this better in their marketing. To preemptively address any pricing comments: yeah, it's not Trader Joes, but its FAR from Whole Foods. All completely reasonable when you factor the level of service you receive. read more

Little known fact...In 1912 when there were no roads to the island and whiskey grew on trees, the majority of land was owner by a secret society of doctors (P.S.L. or Poultry Saves Lives) who strongly believed the answers to all medical aliments could be found in poultry. One such doctor, named Richard Kimbel MD, made famous in the movie The Fugitive, owned approximately 22 acres on the south end of Mercer Island. On that property were three structures; An outhouse, a 1 room cabin for his friend (Recently retired baseball pitcher Cy Young), and a wooden warehouse disguised as a bifocal fitting shop. Just beyond the façade of the copper countertop laden with the latest in focal fashion and nested behind a local artists rendition of Theodore Roosevelt on a secret velvet wall hid 20,000sqft of tiny metallic cages housing over 100,000 quails. These quails were routinely the victims of animal testing as it was found their eggs, when fed to a construction worker not indigenous to the island, would cause them to work 3 times harder than that of a local resident. Word spread of this phenomenon and over the course of the next 50 years with the assistance of local contractors, Mercer Island grew exponentially until the federal government got wind of this illegal activity and shut it down. Faced with spending the rest of his life in prison, DR. Kimbel made a deal and privately released his scientific findings ,entitled Quails For Construction to Kroger LLC. Kroger in an attempt to honor the history and the man behind the success of the island respectively then named their chain of stores QFC, while taking the research findings and applying it to chicken eggs. AND this is also why eggs are so freaking expensive here cause nothing else makes sense. read more

I get it, we are in the middle of a pandemic. I get it, not all the managers want to work at night they probably have families. I get it, we're a bunch of ungrateful assholes that just wanna go shopping when we want and customer service isn't always that pleasant for those in the retail business. If I walk into this QFC one more evening and be greeted, correction not be greeted by a bunch of haggling teenagers stood around the check out laughing and joking about Their day, the party they went to this weekend, who's dating who etc. I'm gonna ditch. There's another QFC on this island and the Met market just opened. When someone complained about this store on next-door, the manager responded with a very thoughtful response and I thought it was appropriate the person that had made the comment was unkind and unnecessarily harsh. However I see little to no COVID-19 protocols being followed when I go there in the evening and you've left a bunch of kids in control of the store. We're in a pandemic don't leave the kids in charge. read more

No stars for the bakery staff, particularly Nicole, the cake decorator. I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's 21st birthday and not only did she fail to make it, bakery staff didn't even bother to call me when they realized the oversight. In the week before the birthday, I spoke to Nicole both on the phone and in person to confirm the details of my order. When I went to pick up the cake this morning, all they could offer me was a bumble bee cake, which would've been cute for a 1st birthday. There was no explanation. Fortunately, the north end QFC had several beautiful cakes, made in-house, and saved the day. Save yourself some grief and order your custom cake elsewhere. read more

Ok hands down! BEST GROCERY STORE EVER!!!! Minus the people who are in a mad rush with their carts at times this place is perfect. The staff here is so helpful. In fact today I forgot to buy some pita bread for hummus (yumm) and I asked one of the managers near the bakery department where they were located. They are currently renovating so things are a bit crazy there right now but he directed me to where they were located in the bread aisle (it is aisle 3 folks) and then came over and checked up on me and even suggested a better pita bread than what I had gotten. Every time I check out every cashier treats me like I'm their BFF and the baggers are really nice guys. I live here on Mercer just moved from Virginia (east coast boy) and this is such a nice cozy grocery store. I recommend this store!!! read more

Exceptional bagging, eggs were always placed perfectly. Shoutout James Kirkmire, Best bagger on the Island. Negative shoutout Jack Clayville, always places my eggs at the bottom. Fart Glo, she always talks to me and seems to never be working. Carly from Starbucks creeps me out. read more

This store should have six stars out of five. I have always found what I want there, the produce is beautiful and fresh. . . . and 95% of the staff are friendly and dont sniff at an old lady taking her time to pay at the register (I have arthritis in my hands and pay with cash rather than plastic) I tend to go to this one since it is quieter and the isles are wider than the QFC at the north end. The employees seem happy with the work, which is certainly different than the vibe in most grocery stores ( and a lot of bushiness) I have gone to. You can tell they are human beings and not fearful robots. One of them gave me a brilliant gardening tip once that I used, and also passed on to others. If you are on the Island and need groceries, check this place out. read more

Great grocery store. It's only a few minutes from my parents' house and it's the best grocery store (in my opinion) on the island. It is clean, the staff is friendly, and there are enough sales to combat the inflated prices ;). There is a nice deli, bakery, a starbucks inside (and one next door too), good selection of cheese, butcher, and all other things that you could ask for. Granted, if you don't live on Mercer Island, it would be a total pain in the butt to come here and isn't worth the trek all the way to the south end... but if you're around, it's the best this place has got. read more

Pros: The layout makes sense, the quality of food is what you'd expect, the selection is pretty good. Convenient parking. The place feels nicer and cleaner than most grocery stores, I'm not sure why. Cons: Their prepared food isn't very good. It can be very busy, especially when the middle school lets out. The best part of the store though, that really earns it 5 stars, are the employees. They are amazing, often quirky people, who are fun to talk to, and get to know you if you go regularly enough. Super helpful and interesting employees. read more

Most definitely my favorite QFC. I no longer live in Mercer Island, but I still drive here to get things I can't get at Costco. It's never poorly maintained or disorganized! I can always find what I need without asking for help. Great produce, great meats! Always fresh and high quality. Plus, they carry my favorite New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. They do a good job at the deli, too. Good salads. Polite, professional staff! Ample parking also, most of the time. read more

Best QFC on the Island. But someone tell the bald guy that the 'express line' means hurry up, not express yourself.

Good service, my only concern is that a lot of times the chicken is over cooked, so I rarely order the breasts. At $2.89 each, that's a little pricey for the meat to be over cooked. read more

Besides always having amazing service, the employees are amazing. Today my friend needed a bottle opened- an employee overheard and soon there was a chain of them trying to open the bottle (and they, of course, succeeded). Terrific staff, especially the green grocers who will take the time to help you find the best fruit. Fun tip: young children can get a free cookie at the bakery. Great sandwiches at the deli. It's less hectic than the north end QFC, but with nearly the same selection. Fast checkout is the rule. read more

There's this Asian women who was very rude with me today. It was my first time doing my groceries at this store and I was interested in getting a QFC reward card. Before scanning any of my products, I asked if it's possible to get such a card on the spot or what my alternative is. She yelled "No, you don't need it" and mumbled something in a very broken English with a bad tone in her voice and nervously start scanning all my products. It made me very uncomfortable and left the store with a bad experience and still confused why can't I get a card. read more

I cannot tolerate the north end QFC any more. Going to the south end is a joy. Gracious employees, wonderful people in every department, seafood, meat, wine, you name it, they are the best !! I am enjoying shopping again. read more

This place is horrible!! I went in tonight and did my grocery shopping. Come check out time the "card reader" wouldn't read the chip in my card for what ever reason. No biggie right? Just slide the strip and carry on like every other store in the usa but no not at this location. If their scan card reader cant read your chip then you cant slide the card. You have to use their alaskan credit union atm and if you dont bank with them you have to pay the fee. So basically you have to pay a fee to shop at this store. My chip works at every other store I've been to but at some stores the chip reader part is down and they say swipe the card, either way this seems to be an issue they need to address internally and not pass on to the customer. I never thought I'd see the day when you arent allowed to swipe a debit card at a store. This place is absolutely the worse, bad bad bad bad customer service. I will never ever sh op here again and I suggest you dont either. read more
