Parent and I took the chocolate class on with Margo, the owner, and her wonderful helper, over Thanksgiving weekend. The class was lovely - started with a brief discussion about where chocolate comes from while we sipped/spooned some very, very European hot chocolate (you know what I mean, the kind that's super thick, like liquid chocolate. It's delicious!). After that we got to play in the chocolate, dipping an assortment of crunchy items (pretzels! graham crackers! and more), marshmallows, and fruit in dark chocolate. It was fun and and very hands on... the trick is to (not) lick your fingers! Or maybe not. It is your own little chocolate lake to play in. Highlight was raspberries dipped in dark chocolate - these are amazing. Even though it's not raspberry season, these were extraordinary. Afterwards parent purchased a box to take home. And when birthday season started this month, parent requested a box of Oh! Chocolate, which I shipped out to them. They were very happy and I get reports of how they're rationing out the chocolates one a day to get the most enjoyment! Shop is cool - because chocolate needs a cooler temperature - so I would recommend a sweater if you are taking the class. read more

As soon as I entered this store last month with my best friend Ryan, I heard another customer excitedly requesting the chocolate that is "like a Snickers" but way, way better. Of course I had to try it as soon as it was our turn to choose chocolates. It tasted very fresh! So did all of the other chocolates that Ryan and I picked - we got a box of 12 assorted truffles, and we picked them out one by one! Service was good; the lovely lady behind the counter was very welcoming. The atmosphere of this place is super cute. And walking in, it smells amazing!! A bit pricey, but in my opinion definitely worth the cost!! I will go again at some point, and I recommend that you give this shop a try if you are into gourmet/artisan chocolates. read more

Amazing! My boyfriend has bought me these indulgent treats for the last two Valentines and they satisfy every decadent chocolate craving. They come in a beautifully boxed and ribboned package, almost too pretty to open-- but of course you're dying to dig in if you've tried these. These homemade chocolates are made fresh daily and the quality shines through each bite. My boyfriend mentioned the fact that when he went in the owner remembered him and asked if I liked them from last year. Wow! I'm impressed that she remembers him, so sweet that she takes the time to get to know her customers. She was also super helpful and patient in explaining each treat and helping him choose. I could go on about each chocolate but I don't think I would have enough room. I implore you to try these! I recently purchased a Groupon for a box of their salted caramels. The lady there was very nice and I had no problems redeeming the Groupon. She even asked me if I wanted milk, dark, or half and half, which is nice. She also tied a nice ribbon around the beautiful box. The chocolate shop is very tiny, could probably fit like 4 people at most. Their chocolates look amazing. I tried their latte truffle and it was delicious. Had a hint of espresso in it. I love that Oh! Chocolate has been on the Mercer for so long. It makes fantastic gifts and has actually been part of my family's special occasion regimen for at least a decade. They have classic, plain flavors as well as fun flavors such as Tiger Butter (white chocolate/peanut butter) and fun alcohol infused (champagne, scotch, etc.). Their fruit flavors are really yummy and every chocolate is creamy and delicious! The boxes are expensive, but they are quality-assured, handmade truffles so you get what you pay for. Lady was really nice and went over options with us to pick out gifts. All boxes comes with a nice ribbon for gifting. Pricing is moderate to fair for specialized chocolates. After spending $130 on chocolates was finally offered a sample. I took one but my fiancé declined at the time. While checking out, he decided he wanted a cheap Oreo and we were charged for it. Just my opinion but you'd think after spending that much, they would consider that the over sample. It also seemed stale and tasted like a knock of Oreo under the chocolate. Could be wrong though. I personally don't like chocolate on its own, though I like it in brownies, cookies, or cake. Mother's day was coming close, and my father and I wanted to get my own mother something special. Besides flowers, we wanted to get something else. I had heard good things about this chocolate shop, and it was new to the island. We decided on picking our own chocolate truffles for my mother. They have a variety of nuts and chews and French creams. Oh! Chocolate also carries a bunch of other goodies including: chocolate drenched grahams, toffee pretzels, chocolate dipped macadamia nuts, old fashioned malt balls, chocolate covered oreos, chocolate espresso beans, toffee almonds, silver chocolate stars, and crispy ginger snaps. After picking out our selection of truffles, we were set to go! They packaged the chocolate truffles into a nice box with a big, colorful bow. On the day of actual dedication to mothers, we were excited to try out the truffles. I remember trying the mint truffle with dark chocolate. I don't really like dark chocolate, but when paired with mint, it is divine. The truffle is creamy on the inside, with a mint infused cream. The chocolate shell is a little bitter, but a good amount of sweetness to pair with the mint. I've definitely eaten better chocolates from the grocery store if THAT tells you anything. Had to pick up a very last minute birthday gift for my boyfriend. I had passed by Oh! Chocolate many times and never been in, so it popped into my head when I was thinking of gift ideas. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a lady behind the counter. She helped me select an assortment of chocolates based on what I told her about my boyfriends palate preferences. Then she put a beautiful bow on the box, and told me about their chocolate making class. She had a very warm and inviting presence. When I gave my boyfriend this gift, I popped in while he was at work. He didn't seem very impressed, the look on his face was like, "oh, thanks, a box of chocolates that I'll never get around to finishing." I said goodbye and went back to work. When he got home, he could not stop raving about how amazing these chocolates were. THANK GOD. I realized then that the only thing standing between me having given him a mediocre gift an an amazing gift was the taste. I love this place. I have tried chocolate all over the country, the world even, and I always keep coming back to this tiny little chocolate shop on Mercer Island. Sure, Seattle has a lot of chocolate shops. But you can go to Fran's and get good quality but you're also paying sky high prices. Bellevue ain't cheap. But stopping at a Oh's not only are you offered several samples of their incredible chocolate but the entire experience is thoroughly enjoyable. We got to temper the chocolate, dig our fingers in it, get messy and dip all our favs like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, almonds, marshmallows, Oreos, graham crackers! And she lets you dip with dark and milk chocolates! The chocolate is just amazing and some of the best husband and I have ever had! You def have to come here but try the fun class too! So worth it! If I could give zero stars I would... I had two expired certificates from Groupon and wanted to use the face value. The very rude lady first refused to honor the face value because she could not figure out if the value was used or not. I showed her twice that it had not been used. I left pissed, then found my email that showed the purchase, that it expired and the language that they have to honor at least my purchase price (not the Groupon deal) FINALLY, she honored it. I purchased ONLY the value of the amount I purchased with Groupon. It was a pathetic amount and honestly, the chocolate was nothing to rave about. Some friends and I recently did an after hours "Chocolate Class" at Oh Chocolates! It was a delightful evening being educated on the history of chocolate, how chocolate gets from the farmer to the stores and then deliciously prepared to please our palates. We also learned the history of the charming "Oh Chocolate!" family as the legacy continues. The class included playing in rich & warm, light & dark chocolate puddles as we dipped and coated generous amounts of fresh fruits and snacks. First off I'm not a big fan of sweets but I do go here at least once or twice a year for gifts for my grandma. She is a tough old lady but loves when a box of chocolates from Oh! Chocolate arrives in the mail. I've always had the friendliest encounters and this is the only location I've been to. I drive out of my way to get here and it's always worth it. I noticed some reviews complain about the price. It seems reasonable to me and by no stretch of the imagination am I wealthy. I'd rather pay more and get something nice instead of a mass produced product. They put a lot of care into there merchandise and it shows. Great chocolate shop. The chocolates are much larger than at other chocolate places and only $1.50 each when getting them in a box. The people who work there are very nice and offer you samples even before they know if you're going to get something. During my time there, I had 2 1/2 pieces of chocolate and bought a 24 piece sampler box. My husband and I are still working through the box but our favorites are the almond buttercream, chocolate nougat, tiger peanut butter, and honey ginger caramel.
