I was curious, so I decided to go in and check it out. After wandering around for a few minutes and picking out a few sweets, I heard a man at the counter ordering sandwich. So, naturally after finding out they were a legit deli, I ordered myself a sandwich. And although it was simple, it was absolutely delicious! I'm not one for cold sandwiches, but this was probably one of the best cold sandwiches I've ever had. In fact, I ended up buying some deli meat because I liked how good the pastrami was. The store is cute and they make great use of the limited space. It seems like most of the international Imports are Eastern European (and from what I can tell, mainly Russian). This is a really cool deli in Bellevue. Full of sweets, baked desserts, books, a deli and a small grocery section with European and Russian items. Small selection of cakes in the front window. The deli has a lot of meats with some pickled items and fish. They have a small refrigerated beverage case with a few beers and other drinks. The one employee working at the register/deli didn't seem happy with the little line she had. I wanted to try out some things but due to how slow she was and not having anyone helping her, I left. I would come back later and try again, hopefully when there's more staff or someone who moves faster. read more

Came here to write a review and the other comments crack me up. Da, if you want to experience service from the Soviet Union era you've come to the right place. You're not only getting Warsaw Pact goods here, you're getting authentic Cold War service as well. Where else can you get it? It's like a honest to goodness time machine. This is what service even in the US was like before megacorps took over everything. You go to every city and all you find are Walmarts, Targets, with the same service. This place is a gem. I get it that some customers had a bad time but when I was there a Russian customer was talking up a storm with the owners(?) and having a great time. They obviously had a connection and it was kinda cute to see that. I see that in Mexican delis and Chinese cafes too. Anyway going back to the review. I came here to get packaged goods that I can't get anywhere else (or have to pay a lot online). Make sure you check expiration dates because stores (even large ones) don't always check them for you. As far as the meats and cold food go, I didn't get any but I'll take a look next time. If a small store get a lot of traffic their food will turn over quickly, otherwise caveat emptorsky. There's also wines, snacks and other foods that are not available generally. These little stores are a godsend for people pining for food from the old country and I'm very glad that they exist otherwise we wouldn't be able to get them. If you are from the U.S., do not let the mean customer service turn you down from stopping by here and getting some great Eastern European or Russian food products. Because they have a great variety of beers, candies and plenty of other things. I also love their bread selection and they have delicious pastry with poppy seeds which is very common where I am from - Czech Republic and I love getting this one over here. Besides the great food selection, the cashiers are never really friendly or nice. These kind of businesses do not deserve to have us as customers. I bought a product 2 days ago, and when we opened it at home we found out it went bad. Things like these happen, no big deal. When coming back to the store, 2 days later and with a receipt, I was surprised to be questioned on the product, and was told that this is how it is suppose to be. I apologized, and as I am familiar with the product from the past, I insisted that this is bad, everything is fine and a reimbursement is the only thing needed. I had few more items with me, that I was about to buy, when the owner (who was handling us), started to mock everything my husband said, and being completely rude (we were ordering a sandwich, and the owner asked if we want to taste the tomato and the lettuce as well, before we buy it). In this point, we decided not to continue with any more shopping, asked for our money back and left the place with a very bad feeling... and surprised. We never had this kind of experience before. This is probably one of my biggest pet peeves is when a business you found on Yelp says they are open till 5 pm today and when you drive all the way out and they are actually "closed on Sundays." Have been wanting to come by this place for awhile since I moved to Bellevue and now I don't think I will be giving them a try. Respect someone's time if you want their business because you just lost mine. It's frustrating when your hours online say your open but when someone arrives the door has a note that your closed on Sundays for the season or whatever, update your ONLINE presence because that is where people check first. Fun, little store. I don't think I've ever seen such a great collection of Eastern European goodies. They do have a few items from other places, but this is the place to come for Eastern European/Russian products. The bulk chocolate bins are awesome and they didn't even blink when my kids were allowed one item of their choice. The candies are per pound. We bought a number of items, but were mainly there to browse and explore. Tried the fresh halvah and a slice of one of their cakes (layered with cream and dried plums). The cakes are beautiful, but I was worried they had been sitting around a while and were stale. No. It was excellent. The cake layers had been soaked in something and were really moist. I loved the dried plum and nuts throughout. The halvah was excellent quality too. Not too sweet and the sesame flavor was very pronounced. We also tried their beet salad out of the deli. It was good as well. We will definitely be back, if for the Halvah and cake alone. They also carry the dense rye bread here, but we did not need any bread at the time. While a Russian supermarket, being German I am finding so many things, from pickled veggies not commonly found in the US; to sausages that have another main ingredient than most American - sodium. I wanted to give this business zero stars, but that is not possible. I used to love going to this store previously to purchase all sorts of Ukrainian and Russian foods, even with the not so friendly customer service.' However, recently, on the 28th of Sept, I entered (masked) the store to purchase some items. There was no one at the counter, so I called out to the owner/employees in an inner room/kitchen area that I saw from the counter. An employee or owner (a middle-aged gentleman) came from the inner room without a mask. When I pointed out he wasn't wearing a mask, he was very rude, said "what?" then when I asked him to wear a mask before serving me, he said NO, then left the counter and went back to the inner room without allowing me to make my purchase. I had to ultimately leave the store and saw him return back to the counter (again unmasked) to serve two masked customers after me. I find it appalling that this business continues to operates this way, in spite of the state-wide mandate on wearing a mask. I will never go back to this store again, which is such a shame as I liked the place previously. read more

This is the Eastern European store my (Russian/Ukrainian) wife judges all other "Russian" stores in the US. They are a busy store with dairy, produce, candies, desserts, and wines from mostly Eastern European countries. They have a deli where you can get a delicious sandwich for lunch - if you don't mind waiting in the line. The store is clean, the staff is helpful, and the prices are reasonable. I asked the owner if he could order a specific kind of Kefir for us, and he was glad to do it - even in the large quantity we asked for (so it would last the 2 weeks to the next order). He always held aside the amount we asked for. I am amused by the people who rate them low because of the staff. You just have to be prepared that the women speak little English, and they provide the type of service "Russians" expect. As a culture, they sound "rude" but aren't, they may sound brusk but the are just direct. They really are helpful, if you do not judge them to your standards. Just get over yourself and enjoy experiencing the culture. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this spot. It's absolutely incredible... But I can't even explain much because almost nothing here is in English. Not even the folks behind the counter speak English! But that's what was so magical. Russian, German, Polish, Scandinavian, Czech, you name it, they've got it. Meat products, pickled goods, sandwiches, cakes, candies, sodas, juices, wines, and MORE! I bought a handful of fun looking chocolate candies and spent the evening opening them up and trying them out. Some were good, some less so, but it was really fun to try new things. I went into this shop on a referral for Russian chocolate candies. I selected a few and went to the counter. No eye contact, no smile, no greeting, no sign of friendliness. However, while the petite brunette woman was weighing my four little candies (76 cents), a bold juvenile cockroach was crawling all over the counter items, and wiggling its appendages to get my attention. Completely unafraid of my proximity or motion! Well, at least someone in the store was being friendly. I almost cancelled the purchase, but I figured the candies were well-wrapped and a popular, fast-selling item with good stock rotation. Wrong. One of them had suspicious clusters of tiny brown spheres on the bottom, not sure if those were a leaky filling or insect eggs (and not interested in investigating further), and two were discolored from aging or dehydration or mishandling, showing white powdery coating which chocolate gets when it's old or has melted and re-hardened. Yuck. No thanks. Not only am I not going back, I'm likely to avoid these type of candies for fear they were purchased at this store. read more

I went in one evening while waiting for take out from Szechuan Chef and I was the only man in the store. It was filled with Russian mothers and their boys, plus the ever so nice ladies behind the counter. It was an awesome cultural immersion right here in Seattle. That aside, the store sells a myriad of delights from around the world. I think these places are the few that capture what must have been the magic of early spice traders. Oooh, it's like being in the past! Even if I cast of my overly romantic notions and cultural tourism, the food here is damn good. I had me some freshly sliced head cheese and it was great! They honey cake is tasty as are many of the imported items (like the cheeeeeeese!). You might even learn some Russian if you stay long enough. read more

Having parents that grew up in Russia, cold cuts are an important part of our lives. That said, the variety of Russian stores on the Eastside is not necessarily an indicator of the quality of the meat therein. When it comes down to Russian stores, it's all about the meat. Everything else is secondary. That said, this is the deli we frequent. The meats here are good and varied, they have nice, REAL canadian bacon (i.e. actual meat and not processed). They have good wet and dry salamis (try gypsy or black castle) and good Polish sausages: the Krakow sausage is great and the kabanos is decent. The selection of fish is OK and they will occasionally have good stuff there, but all the essentials are there. They also do cakes and sandwiches, but I've never tried either. The quality of their prepared food can be uneven. Pickled cabbage varies from crunchy and tasty (with the odd cranberry) to limp or undercured. The roasted eggplants in mayonaisse is great. Their selection of groceries is pretty good, I guess, and they have Russian videos in back. They also have a HUGE assortment of black, green, herbal and digestive teas, and good ones. I lived in the UK so I know my tea, Ahmad is my favorite and they sell several varities, loose and bagged, for good prices. They also have a good selection of pickles and honey. The employees' English varies from almost none to decent, and service is often of the surly Russian kind. Not everything is translated (/correctly). I'm not sure I'd go here if I wasn't Russian or Slavic unless I was serious about Russian sausage or tea or maybe looking for buckwheat honey or pickled pattypan squashes. read more

Came here on a whim during my trip to the strip mall here. I just thought it would be interesting to see what Russian delicacies look like. There were neat shelves everywhere filled with Russian and European wines, confectionary, honey and other items. I was more fascinated than I thought I would be. Spent about 15 minutes exploring the place. I got three types of candies. All of them were too sweet and no different from what we get in USA. Nothing really stood out to me. They had different variety of dried fish which I am guessing is some kind of specialty food item. In the 15-20 minutes that I spent here, there were about 4-5 people walk in. There were two check out people but they were a bit slow to check us out. The candies are sold by pound but I got just three single candies of different sort, the bill was $1.32. They asked us to give cash. Since we didn't have exact cash, we just ended up paying $1.50. All in all the store is good but it didn't leave me any valid reason to come back again. read more

There are a couple of Russian stores in Seattle metro and this one is really the best in all regards: it's very clean, the food selection is very good and all the food is fresh, and the service is relatively fast. The deli meats and cheeses are really why I come here: they must have 20 different types of salami, the best bologna, heart-melting Havarti, and fresh, inexpensive feta. The cakes and deserts are pretty good too and can be made to order. Highly recommend if you are into European food (Russian, Polish, German) and want a different shopping experience. read more

Love the store as it has Eastern European groceries and meats not found elsewhere. Prices aren't too bad. Some of the reviewers here label the food as "Russian", however that's an ignorant statement. The food at this store is mainly Eastern European and former Soviet Union. You will find favorites from Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Lithuania, Armenia and more. Most of the good stuff is not Russian. This was a really nice find tucked into a little strip mall. They have a wonderful - and pretty well-stocked selection of Eastern European snacks and goodies. The store itself is snug but very clean, incredibly organized and fantastically labeled. They didn't have any wurst (which we were on a mission for) but they did have a shocking number of snacks from all over Europe (and then some). If you're a grocery-roamer (where you go to grocery stores to find new things) then this place is might actually be your mecca. read more

I visited the store on September 26, 2020 in the mid afternoon. Since there were too many customers in the small check out area I decided to return later that day. Before leaving I became aware that all customers wore face masks but were not keeping the typical 6 feet distance from each other. What really disturbed me was to see the two sales employees interacting with the customers without wearing masks or gloves. All meat and other products are touched by personnel without masks, food and cash is handled by them at the same as if it the most normal thing to do. I observed this while visiting the store twice that day several hours apart. Yesterday, September 29, 2020, I had to return to the store to exchange an item and was helped by the owner. When the transaction was completed I asked the owner why he and his staff were not masked up as required by law. His response? "I have a medical condition" This is a man in his fifties and fit, he is obviously lying. I said "Your personnel also have medical conditions"? Silent, no answer. When I posed the question "are you a Trumper"? He responded with "Always". No hygiene, no masks. Be safe, don't shop there until they change their policy. read more

Fantastic! The choice of the products is unbelievable, the staff is incredibly polight. I was even able to find Kievsky cake that I tried in the Ukraine during my visit to Kiev. The prices are comparable to the ones in other East European grocery stores in the area. Overall I would highly recommend this shop. read more

After my less exciting adventure 2 doors down. I was curious to checkout this place. It's a small Russian supermarket/deli. They sell all sorts of jams, chocolates, cheese, breads, meats, herring & sausages. A frozen section where they sell pirogi and pelmeni. I bought their cheeses, sausage and caviar. Which was pretty good. They also sell cakes. I didn't buy any cakes, because I didn't think it looked fresh. If you're around this area. You should checkout this place out.
