Showing MiCasa Too Some Love!…read more
I saw the news about MiCasa Too and how the construction has been affecting their business, and it really made me think about how long it had been since I'd been there. I used to go to MiCasa Too all the time, but now that I live in South Reno, getting there feels like a little road trip.
Last night, we were trying to figure out where to have dinner when we remembered that we wanted to show MiCasa Too some love. So, off we went--and I'm SO glad we did!
Heading west, we took the Keystone exit to Seventh Street and then Stoker. Surprisingly, we managed to avoid most of the construction. Score one for us!
It was Saturday night, and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We were greeted right away and seated promptly. Then came the warm tortilla chips and TWO different salsas. And let me just say... those chips and salsa disappeared pretty quickly.
For drinks, we ordered a raspberry margarita, iced tea, and water. I had completely forgotten how much I LOVE their raspberry margaritas. One sip and I was like, "Oh yeah... I remember you."
Our orders were taken quickly, and the food came out without a long wait.
I ordered the Cheech and Chong, which is a chimichanga. I ordered it with shredded beef. A chimichanga is pretty much always one of my go-to choices at a Mexican restaurant, so I had high expectations. Thankfully, MiCasa did not disappoint!
It was smothered in cheese, and the beef inside was tender, flavorful, and delicious. Basically, everything I want in a chimichanga.
My daughter ordered the cheese enchilada and tamale combo with rice and beans. She was very happy with her meal.
Another person in our group ordered the chicken and rice, which is his standard go-to whenever we eat Mexican food. He thought it was good, although he did mention that it could have been a little warmer. But apparently it wasn't a deal breaker because he still ate the entire thing. That tells you something!
The kids shared a cheese quesadilla from the kids' menu, which came with rice and beans. They had absolutely no trouble taking care of that either. Apparently, nobody at our table came to play when it came to dinner.
Overall, it was a great meal, and I'm really glad we made the trip. It was affordable and good!
Sometimes local businesses just need a little extra love when circumstances make things difficult. MiCasa Too has been part of the Reno dining scene for a long time, and it really is a Reno institution.
So if you've been saying, "We should go to MiCasa Too sometime," this is your sign.
Go eat. Order the margarita. Get the chips and salsa. Show them some love.
And MiCasa--here's hoping you're around for a very, very long time!
