EXCELLENT food!!! Don't drive the Ring of Kerry without planning to stop and eat here! I would allow 7 hours to drive the Ring of Kerry (Kenmare to Beaufort portion) including stops, and including an hour to eat here. Might allow 9 hours if going from Killarney back to Killarney. Melt-in-your-mouth fish in the fish & chips. Perfectly cooked deep fried squid, not chewy at all. Amazing sweet chili sauce. The chips (fries) were just ok. The service was just ok. But the food was so good, they deserve 5 stars. Best fish & chips ever. Best calamari ever. Anywhere we've eaten those things, not just Ireland.

We popped in QCs for dinner while renting a vacation home for a few days. We were warmly welcomed, even with our 3 children. Small menu but fantastic eats! The fish & chips was the best I've had in my 10 days in Scotland & Ireland. Soup of the day was potato and delicious! They even had a great kids menu. Add to the great food the fantastic service and this is a place not to be missed!

Stopped midday through the Ring of Kerry drive to enjoy a delicious bowl of cheesy chowder and some top-notch fish n' chips. Could *possibly* be better than Fishy Fishy in Kinsale, but that may just be crazy talk. It's a pricey fish (~15 EUR) but worth it! Cute setting too, all nautical and whatnot.

    Sharing plate starter for two.

Very nice eating house. Lovely décor, clean toilets and a nice looking smoking area out the back (from a quick glance). Staff were nice too. Fitted us in when we didn't have a reservation. Plenty of Kerry accents amongst the clientèle too, which was a good sign. The bread provided after ordering was top notch. We shared the tasting plate starter of ham hock, cured meats, cheeses, bread and hummus. It was very nice, especially the hummus and the cheese. Most of the cured meats bar one was smoked, which I am not a fan of, so I think they could do half and half perhaps. For a main I went for the Pan Roasted Wild Salmon and it was delicious. It came with asparagus and hollandaise sauce - yummy! There was a side of three small new potatoes also. However I did find the dish to be quite expensive for what you got, it was 27.50 EUR. I was full by the end, so that was not an issue. I just thought the price was a bit high for the amount of salmon that came with the main course, so I dropped a star for that. I guess wild salmon is expensive, it was very tasty. My partners main was the Thai red seafood curry and mentioned by the end of the meal the one distinct flavour in the sauce was a little too overpowering for the fish. One final note, QCs is a very nice seafood restaurant, but I do not agree with what Nick S says, its not *possibly* better than Fishy Fishy Cafe.

Crab and prawn bisque, with a side of deep fried squid!

Another great meal in Ireland! This time in Cahersiveen, about a 20 minute drive from Portage where we were staying. We had misjudged our timings and ended up in Cahersiveen about 5.30pm - the restaurant didn't open until 6pm, but the owner kindly welcomed us in to have drinks and browse the menu. QC's is a cosy little seafood restaurant and pub, with some interesting art and decorations. I understand there is also accommodation available, but we didn't stay. I had the crab and prawn bisque - again, another recommendation from Yelpers! And wow - hands down one of the best bisques I have ever had. It even came complete with prawn and crab meat pieces - yum! My husband had the deep fried squid - another delicious dish, which my 2 year old loved. We each followed up with a main course - I had the turbot with crab croquettes, which was really tasty. The prawns were really sweet, and good balance with the veggies. I could have done without the crab croquettes, but overall very tasty. My husband had the deep fried cod, which he rated in his top 3 fish and chips in the UK - lovely light, crisp batter, with very sweet and juicy fish - a perfect pairing! Unfortunately, by this time, we were all too stuffed to have any dessert (apart from our daughter, who happily tucked into some ice cream!). Highly recommended if you are in the area!

We ordered the following: Starters *House cured salmon and cod in nori seaweed - excellent, sushi quality, the cod was nice and salty, portion wasn't the largest *Warm smoked mackerel with horseradish and dill dressing - really tasty and a nice portion *Flash pan squid with chiles and coriander- outstanding with a kick Mains *Pan fried black sole on the bone, dill, and toasted almond butter-maybe the star of the show, a large portion, fall of the bone and the toasted almond butter was awesome *OOTB fish selection; John Dory, sole and halibut fillets served with a lobster sauce - the fish was great, but the lobster sauce had zero flavor *Dingle bay lobster from the tank- we got the last one, it was excellent The beer and wine were excellent. The service was great. The interior had a tile floor with a sort of Mexican fishing village theme. Reasonably priced for top level fresh seafood. Highly recommend.

The front is a basic and unassuming, but neat, blue building. Inside remains simple, but quality, with light wood, soft light, and sea themed decor. As the menu changes so frequently, a dish can run out that evening, it is handwritten on a chalkboard that is brought to the table. It was very difficult to choose, the entire menu was well done. The brown bread was also the best of the trip, theirs had more seeds and the right balance of dense. Be careful to not fill up on bread as you will not want to miss any of the rest of the meal. Since the menu changes so frequently, describing what we ordered is not helpful. Both dishes were incredible, fresh, cooked perfectly, and with interesting and well matched ingredients. We ate every possible bite. We managed to save room and share a dessert, worth every calorie. I'm surprised to see any negative reviews. In my option, for the quality of the meal, the prices were completely reasonable. If you are in Dingle (which if you go to Ireland you absolutely should as the town deserves a visit), make reservations!

Cronins sits on a Main Street through Killarney and feels like old world Ireland from the road to the table. It has a storied past in Killarney, being open over 60 years at this point. The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! Overall, Cronins is a stellar spot in a great spot in Killarney! When we get back over the pond and to Killarney, Cronins is on the list to swing by again!

We sat in the back at a comfortable table, the seating is spaced well enough to provide privacy. The sound level is also comfortable. For drinks we ordered a port wine and a local stout. Both were satisfying. Our starter of mussels was absolutely superb. The mussels were sweet and tender. The sauce that bathed the fish was really delicious. I ordered the spicy Spanish fish stew. The fish were truly fresh and delicious. The stew sauce was a bit spicy and also excellent. It would have been a great soup on its own. My wife ordered the halibut served with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was great, the fish was high quality and fresh, but it was absolutely tasteless. The preparation by steaming unfortunately ruined an otherwise very good fish dish. Our dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was really good. It has lots of flavor and whole sweet, wasn't overly so. I would have wanted to give Doyle's 5*. But with a very expensive entree being mediocre, it would not have been honest. We told the staff our impression and to their credit, they were completely receptive. I would absolutely return for another meal here, but would be careful to ask how the specials are prepared.
