Not the greatest barbeque, but good average barbeque. Dining room is a bit dingy. Sides are good.

Awesome ribs. Great flavor. One of they best north of Texas.

AMAZING: pulled pork sandwich with vinegar bbq, grilled veggies with some kind of aioli on the side. it's very casual and definitely feels like a neighborhood and family kind-of-place. the only thing I've ever been less than impressed with is the person who takes your order behind the counter... I'm not sure if she even works there anymore but I could always easily ignore her and just wait for the delicious food. read more

Like seemingly hundreds of other people, we stopped-by with friends based upon the piece on DD&D. We weren't disappointed. The wait was long (60 minutes) and tables were sparse (although more in the "back room") but it was certainly worth it. Went with the dry-rub pork spare ribs. Would definitely have it again ... just terrific. Very meaty and the flavor is wonderful. Also loved the spicy new potato wedges. Guess what ... they are actually spicy. Will do again, but perhaps during the week (less busy ... maybe). read more

Minnesota isn't exactly known for vibrant BBQ, so Q Fanatic certainly stands out. One culinary note: the pulled pork (which is very smokey) doesn't blend well with the honey bbq sauce. It is, however, fantastic with every other sauce I tried there. read more

Got the Q Feast Combo for the and it was perfect for three. Everything was juicy and tender. There rolls where sinfully delicious and the sides were great!. Got the grilled veggies with the aioli was so yummy! Only complaint was placed and order and got there and had to wait for like 10 min. Then I realized it was that good. read more

They are such a joke. Don't bother calling them to place an order EVER. Their food is a 3-4/5 stars but their customer service is a joke. I was on hold for over 7 minutes when I called in to make a lunch order for pick-up this afternoon. Needless to say I hung up. They treat their customers like crap and have 0 customer service skills. They have a sense of entitlement and think they are gods gift to BBQ just because they were on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Well this place is definitely a DIVE and not in a good way. They can kiss my business goodbye. read more

Wow... just wow. Very impressed. Great food. The free popcorn is a nice touch, too. Very good; I'm excited to go back :)

they need to make a 6th star cus then id be complaining about now being able to give a 7th star haha! the only thing bad about this place is that there not open on Mondays and tuesdays? read more

It's tough to find good BBQ outside of KC, St. Louis, and the South. Q Fanatic is definitely the best we have found! Everything we have tried is great. No outdoor seating though as listed here. read more

Just popped in there for a quick lunch. We're passing through the area on vacation and the hotel desk clerk recommended the place as "where townies go for really good food." Superb, large, pulled pork sandwiches with a choice of several excellent sauces. Excellent beer selection. Extra-flavorful ... if over-wet ... coleslaw. The downside is the order-at-the-counter system ... you can't see the menu (it's printed on the wall) from where you order. But, the restaurant was clean, the staff smiling, and the food worth the wait. read more

I imagine this is the kind of place every man dreams about with lots and lots of meat and great beans. You must be a carnivore to come here. There's nothing fancy here as far as decor. It's paper plate and plastic utensils casual with sometimes a long wait if you come during busy times. They also have the biggest salad I have ever seen here, so if you are craving more veggies order the salad. read more

My family and I have been to Q-Fanatic many times-each visit a delight. Charlie and his family/crew consistently deliver great barbeque. I haven't been disappointed by a single menu selection. The sides are delicious, my personal favorites are the beans and grilled vegetables. What takes center stage, however, is the meat. Charlie's attention to detail really shows in the flavor, tenderness and moisture of his entrees. Perfectly smoked goodness no matter what you choose. The samplers on the menu are a good way to taste for yourself his mastery of barbeque process. Keep an eye out for the specials, though. The sausage and pepper sandwich is excellent, as is the Q-ban sandwich. Everything is delicious as cooked, but do try the variety of sauces. They compliment the meat as no other restaurant sauce I have tasted. The wait staff tends toward younger, but they have always been helpful and courteous. Oh, and get one of those cookies the size of your head. You deserve it! read more

Best bbq joint in the twin cities! A restaurant our whole family actually agrees on. Do not drive right on by, you would be missing out!

The food is fantastic. The prices seem great for the real made BBQ food and the portions are big! The downfall, it's soooo good they're always packed and sometimes it's hard to find a spot, but well worth the wait!! I love local! read more

While the food may be good it is run so poorly you wonder how they stay in business. If you are lucky you might get your food within a half hour. More like over an hour while everyone sits around. read more

If you want great ribs, then this is the place you want to go. Most of the time I do a take out orders. The baby backs are so smoky flavoured, the dry rub has a kick and several BBQ sauces to choose from. The mashed potatoes are good, BUT I do miss the parmesan au gratin potatoes. The brisket isn't bad either, but my favourites are the Ribs!! read more

This place was all hype and no substance. Perhaps my fellow Minnesotans don't know good BBQ. Anyone who appreciates this horrible food has clearly never been to Arthur Bryant's in KC... or even some if the better BBQ spots in Burnsville and North Minneapolis. Aweful food, meat was cold, fatty and over done and the sauce choice was pathetic, spicy sauce is extra.... read more

Got the Spare Ribs, and the Brisket. Both were awesome, flavors were spot on. The Beans were very delicious as well. The only thing I wished was a little more brisket. Didn't realize the 2 meat meal was just gonna be 4 slice of brisket. But all in all, Que was Great. read more

Food was awesome. It was a Long wait though. You have to order ahead to avoid it. But overall good. Four star because of the wait.

FOR THE ORIGINAL CHAMPLIN LOCATION ONLY Top menu recommendations: -brisket -corn fritters -beans with burnt ends Finally time to do a review after the 15 or more visits in the last 7 years. We have always been very pleased with the quality and quantity of food for the price charged. A couple times we have ordered the Family Picnic sampler for my family of 4 and always had our fill with leftovers for another lighter meal. Have also ordered the sampler for two and loved that as well. I can't think of anything that I have ordered that I would not recommend, all is very good. I am all about low sodium food for myself and they do an excellent job of not overdoing the salt. I have been a practicing BBQer for over 25 years and understand how difficult it is to make consistent meats that are not over smoked or overly seasoned. They do it right. Sadly, I think they may have dropped a side off the menu. It was a cheesy potato that was a family favorite. Last time eating there , Jan 20 2018, had the sampler for 2, brisket, pulled pork, fritters and potato salad. Very good!!! read more

I had the chance to try out Q-Fanatic. I must admit it didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the brisket and my wife ordered the pulled chicken sandwich. I felt the brisket had too much fat in it. It was tender but was too greasy. In my opinion--Famous Dave's has better brisket sandwich. I do like the idea of serving things memphis-style naked. With that being said--the place had a vibe that they could make pretty good ribs. I will try it out in the future. I lived in Memphis for a couple years, so may be spoiled. I have yet to find anybody close in the metro area. We had the spicy new potatoes. They were pretty good--certainly had a kick to them. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for lunch a few days ago after hearing good things about this place. The reality was far from what we had been told. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of cole slaw and my girlfriend ordered a sliced brisket sandwich. We waited about 25 minutes for our order when we were the only ones in there. The sliced brisket looked appetizing, but had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The pulled pork's taste and texture was as if someone had previously chewed it, and spit it onto a bun. The coleslaw was like shredded lettuce in watery milk. (all other coleslaws I've had added carrots or purple cabbage and seasoning for taste and vibrancy) The bbq sauce that both sandwiches came with was like a cup of vinegar with maybe a spoonful of store bought sauce and whatever char they scraped off the grill. If this wasn't bad enough, the lunch was served with a bag of mostly crushed ruffles chips, the chairs were broken (seeing as we were continuously rocking back and forth every time we moved), the tablecloths were cheap plastic, and the decor was trashy. And it was very uncomfortable to have one of their employees standing behind the express counter watching us the entire time. It was really sad to go to a bbq place, and have the broken chips and diet coke be the best part of the meal. This was by far the worst bbq I've ever had, and quite possibly the worst food I have ever had as well. Not worth the $18.75 it cost, and we definitely will never be going back. And yes, they still have the episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives they were featured on playing obnoxiously on a continuous loop, even though it aired over a year ago. read more

Some of the best BBQ your going to find in the Twin Cities. Everything, and I do mean everything is fresh. They smoke the meat out back, they make their own seasoning, and everything tastes fantastic. It can get crowded at times, but the food is worth the wait. It takes me about an hour to drive out here, but it is worth it. read more

New decor is a nice touch. Still the same geeat food but now wirh more seating.

Table was dirty. Floor was dirty. Food took forever. Food was mediocre. Presentation of the food was gross. They do serve beer, but no more than 2 because it's a "family" place. According to the little sign on each table, they would rather not have your business if only 2 beers is a problem for you. You have to give them (and by them I mean, a 17 year old girl, who was extremely rude to her co worker in front of us which was uncomfortable) your order before you get to sit down. read more

This place has some of the best ribs I've ever had. Everyone I've told about this place raves about it. If you like great BBQ, Q fanatic has some of the best in Minnesota! read more

I heard from so many people that this place was phenomenal for ribs. My boyfriend and I tried it, and yes it was incredibly tasty stuff, but they forgot to include my side of potato salad that I ordered for take out. They did go over my order before we left, not via a receipt, but by checking the boxes in my bag. My fault, I didn't remember the potato salad till we got home and started dishing everything out. Overall, good experience! I'm sure we'll be back! read more

Fist time there I nearly bbqgasmed my self twice, - 2nd time it was meh , cheap average, it must have been a fluke because my first visit was far beyond superior, - had to wait but it was RIGHT out of the smoker, and unforgettable. The food here is ok, but get it to go. The atmosphere of the restaurant isn't very welcoming. After you get past the cocky kid running the cash register, you get to sit in the dark and eat your food in silence. Someone got the not-so-bright idea to change all of the light bulbs to blue, LED bulbs. They aren't bright enough, and their color is too cold. They are depressing. Also, I don't recall any background music playing in the restaurant. Everyone just sat in silence for fear that the next table would overhear their conversation. I can't see myself ever going here again. It was an overall depressing experience. The food wasn't good enough to compensate for the dismal atmosphere. read more

We heard about Q Fanatic on Triple D and were excited to taste their BBQ. We ordered to share the burnt-end sandwich, cole slaw, baked beans and mac-n-cheese. The beans were the only thing that tasted good. The sandwich had a good amount of meat but we had to spit out all but 2 pieces. There was so much grizzle, you couldn't chew it enough. The mac-n-cheese and cole slaw had little to no flavor. We were so disappointed, paid $25 for a terrible lunch and will not be back. read more

The place has taken a slide since it's opened. Owners are probably resting on their laurels. The spare ribs were not very good. They were tough and dried out. The kids they have working there are slow and inattentive to the front area with helping customers picking up and they are the STINGIEST when it comes to BBQ sauce. A dinky little cup for a full rack. At least Famous Dave's has packets for customers to take. read more

Excellent food, but unfortunately we refuse to give them any business over their NSA-like policy of swiping id's for beer. It's ridiculous enough that they card people of obvious age, but any establishment that so feebly succumbs to the government will not receive $0.01 of business from me or my like-minded friends. read more

Had such high expectations, but Q fell way short. I have always seen this place and didn't like it because it has such a ridiculous name. At first I didn't even know what it was, and then it was on tv, my friend said it was supposed to be really good. My sister was in town went to it because it was on tv, and said it was good. So,I am hungry, and Q was on the list to try, so I made the exciting trip across the river, to the infamous Q Fanatic. It's location is so-so, I saw the big board to order up my food. I asked the counter person to explain what to get. I got pulled pork and sides. I chose the booth in the way back, where they bring me my food after it's prepared. I sat down and began to absorb the atmosphere, It was very plain and terribly decorated, dated and unclean There was a family and a couple already in the dining room. I looked at the my table and the 2 bbq sauces and the tops were covered in little flies. Just like liquor bottles, but even worse, how gross and disgusting, they hadn't been cleaned. I moved my hand by it when the server brought my food and they all scattered, as I told him about this problem. He never even did anything with the bottles, I think I handed him the one with the most bugs on it. Nobody apologized, nobody began cleaning any bottles, nor did I see anyone again. This is so gross, my appetite was totally affected, it was fairly expensive, so I wanted to try and eat as much as I could. I didn't like the sandwich, I didn't care for the meat. It was a total let down, I was really excited to try something new and it was supposed to be so good, and I was really expecting that. It was a let down before I even got my food, the uncleanliness and bug problem is completely unacceptable and disgusting. Q Letdown read more

Really disappointed with the food. Ribs were dry, maple flavor in pulled ham was way too strong, and mashed potatoes were flavorless. It was bad enough that I won't give it a second try...much better places out there to get BBQ. read more

LOVE! When you look up smoked BBQ in the cookbooks, this is what you see pictures of. Great flavor and lean meats. My favorites are the pulled pork, pulled chicken, corn fritters, and spicy red potatoes. I love the roasted veggies, but they're hard to keep hot. read more

We were in around 2:30 pm on a Friday. The meats were excellent: spare ribs and baby back ribs; the sides were not that great: baked beans were lukewarm and not all that flavorful, the red beans and rice were bland and cold. It was about $50 for lunch for two: rather expensive. We had one beer each and left a $2.00 tip. Did not feel that the quality of the meal overall was worth the price. read more

this is great BBQ, if you get BBQ in the south you will almost always find the best BBQ in small joints like this, those of you that did not like this place could not possibly understand what good BBQ is. I have been lucky enough to try BBQ in tn, ok, ks. and q-fanatic ranks right up there with good BBQ. that said the pulled pork is to die for and the freshly made coleslaw is wonderful. how come they are always busy with takeout ????? read more

3/11/16. Just visited Q Fanatic this evening to pick up an order placed over the phone off of the Q fanatic website. I had ordered the Q Challenge Combo, priced at $59.95 under their Q Values menu. Picked up my order and the bill was $80.01. I told the employee that the price could not be correct. Asked the employee to look up the pricing on their website, in which he did and said I was correct. He went and got an owner and the owner basically told me that anyone could make up prices on the Internet. I explained to him it was on their own website. Basically accused me of trying to create my own special pricing. The owner stated that that meal price had been the same for over a year. So just a word to the wise, do not trust the website pricing. They must not feel the need to keep up with the times by adjusting their own website, therefore that will be the last time I will spend a dollar at the Q !! read more

Q Fanatic - Menu - Barbeque Near Me - Champlin, Minnesota

Charlie(the owner) is a very nice man. I have been going to Q Fanatic since they opened, and Charlie and his family have always treated me with smiles and great hospitality....heck, they even know what I usually order...and they also allow me to bend the ordering rules a bit because of my loyalty. I will always support mom and pop places like this one. You just can't beat the service, quality, and heart that Q fanatic BBQ provides. The only reason that I haven't gone there in the past 3 months is that I'm on a strict diet and I'm making amazing leaps and bound in my health. When I reach my weight loss goal in 4 months, Q Fanatic will be my very first stop as a reward for all of the hard work. Furthermore, I have gone on bbq tours of the most legendary bbq joins in the USA, and in my opinion, Q Fanatic are the most well rounded bbq joint that I have been to...PERIOD!!! They have the most unique sauces(Espresso bbq & Ghost pepper vodka) , the best pulled pork that I have ever had, the burned ends sandwich, and the slab bacon(I brought this to a friend and she said "Oh my god, this is the best bacon that I have ever had")......sheesh, that stuff should be outlawed for it's knee bending, eyes rolling to the back of your head goodness..oh, and did I mention the amazing St.Louis style dry ribs?!...they will make your mouth gush. Lastly, when turkey day comes around, do yourself a huge favor and let Q Fanatic do the cooking for you because they make the very best turkey, stuffing(Deluxe - with craisins & wild rice) and gravy that I have EVER had! I will be ordering my thanksgiving meal from them as long as they are open! If this review doesn't make you want to check out Q Fanatic right now(even in your pj's), I don't know what will. Trust me, you will fall in love with their food. read more
