Wow! They consider Q fanatic one of Minnesota's best!? Had the Brisket sandwich which was way too dry, tough and had very little flavor served on a cheap grade hoagie bun. What a waste of time and money. read more

The BBQ smell is the first thing that hits you when you drive up. You just know the food is going to great. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant has a nice family feel to it. I would suggest trying to go at a not to busy time if you can manage to because sometimes the wait is a bit, but other than that it was great. read more

No doubt, the best BBQ in the area. The beef brisket was ridiculously tender and delicious, the pulled pork was tender and melt in your mouth, and the ribs were extremely tasty. We also recommend the baked beans, with enough meat in them to almost make a meal. This place is just fantastic. read more

Holy crap. Great BBQ in the middle of nowhere MN in a strip mall???? Totally sold, the food was outstanding, ribs were fall off the bone tender, the sauces were great. If you like BBQ you'll love it here. Opens at noon on Saturday and there was a line waiting for them to open. Not a ton of seats but the food is totally worth it. read more

Best BBQ place in the Northwestern suburbs! WOW! We have done family meals and never been disappointed. The ribs, chicken, everything is wonderful. The service is always good. This place is popular, and if you want to do a take-out order it is best to plan well ahead. That said, when they say how long it will be till your order is ready, then always have hit the mark. And the folks who work there are super nice! read more

If you are in the mood for some seriously fantastic BBQ meat and awesome sauce, you can't go wrong here. If you are looking for ambiance or a few beers, not so much. I have never seen a restaurant with a two beer maximum before, and I appreciate their noble intentions to keep it family-friendly. I had the pulled pork with honey BBQ sauce and it was by far the very best I have ever had. read more

love Love LOVE Q Fanatic! We used their delivery service for our backyard wedding and they were prompt, the food was delicious (as always) and the price was right! Definite RECOMMEND!!! read more

My husband and I just went there yesterday for a very early dinner after a disappointing birding trip to the Sherburne Nat'l. Wildlife Refuge. This was probably our 3rd or 4th visit to Q, and definitely our best. I think it may be because we came so early and the food was so fresh. The ribs were outstanding: a meaty, juicy, fall-off-the-bone, perfectly flavored carnivore's delight. We both remarked that they were the best we've ever had. They needed hardly any sauce, but we dipped them in a little of the honey sauce, which was great. Neither of us liked the Cole slaw, however: though the cabbage was very fresh and crisp, it could have used a little shredded carrot for color, and it was way too vinegary for our taste buds. The rolls were standard issue but good. Next time, I'm going to try the corn fritters. Lots of napkins on the table without having to ask for more. Only two types of sauces on every table, which I found odd. The person who took our order seemed not overly-friendly, and it wasn't even busy yet. We have driven there a couple of times all the way from the Hwy 7 & 101 area of Minnetonka where we live, and will do it again - the ribs are that good! Excellent! read more

Best BBQ in Minnesota. I lived 5 years in the south, and while this isn't the best BBQ period, it's up there and it's definitely the best BBQ in Minnesota. Had the Q Picnic Combo for the group. The brisket and spare ribs are amazing. The pulled chicken is good, but nothing amazing. The pulled pork is better than most, but could be a bit better. Burnt parts of the ribs, pork, and brisket were the best. We didn't try the sausage or baby back ribs but we plan on going back and trying them and more sides. The potato salad and potato wedges were good and both had skin on them. The potato salad and baked beans weren't overly sweet like most BBQ places. Lots of meat in the beans. The mac and cheese was so good that one person at all of it before anyone else had a chance to try it. The service was a bit slow and it was confusing because the sign at the counter said, please seat yourself, but didn't mention anything about ordering there, so we waited a while before we figured we had to order at the counter, then sit. Would have had 5 stars if not for the service confusion and speed. read more

Great barbeque. I am from Georgia and have had some of the best. This place has great meat. The back ribs were great, very meaty, more so than baby back ribs. The pulled pork was also very good. Sauces good too. The side were spotty. The scalloped potatoes were very good, mac and cheese was different, kind of soury, like sour cream was mixed in. The rolls however were terrible. Come on, why ruin great barbeque with lousy garlic dinner rolls? Cook up some southern style cornbread or biscuits. Even texas style white bread would be better. Overall, great meat, as good as any real southern barbeque place. You may want to get your meat ala carte to go and do your own sides and breads though. You can't go wrong with the meat. read more

The ribs are the best I've had in the Twin Cities in years! We first picked up dinners for two plus an additional 1/2 pound of ribs 3 months ago. They suggested that I might be buying too much and how if I ordered differently I could save money. Huh, what restaurant would ever do that? Well, they were right we had enough for another dinner for three people. Since I have brought family members there two more times for the fantastic food. Every thing they serve is out of this world! My only issue would be with the atmosphere. It reminds me of a 3.2 bar in Minneapolis and it's always cold inside. No worries, I'll keep bringing friends and family to the best rib shop in town. read more

So, the Baked Beans are excellent. Some of the best I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, the Spare Ribs they came with were some of the worst I've ever tasted. Fall off the bone tender? Yes. Moist? Yes. But, there was little evidence that the meat had been smoked or spent any time on a grill. The ribs were a pile of gray meat and bones that might as well have just been boiled. No char. No color. Just gray institutional meat. The photos others have posted in no way resemble the meal I received. read more

Our favorite local place by far! We have had help remodeling our home recently and our workers are always happily fed Q Fanatic. People need to understand that this is a small, often understaffed, family-owned place that I imagine is working to deal with their new publicity in Minnesota Monthly and on the food network. You will sometimes have to wait on the phone or in the restaurant to be served during peak times, but the food is always worth it! The espresso and chipotle sauces are great with the pulled pork, but my absolute favorite is the pulled chicken with teriyaki. We also are huge fans of the coleslaw. I would recommend Q Fanatic to anyone. read more

Best BBQ around! I wasn't even that hungry, but when I walked in and smelled the BBQ my mouth was watering. I will definitely go back many times! read more

After seeing them on DDD. I got a chance to fly into Msp and head over for a taste. Mixed reviews. Ribs were my favorite. Brisket very smoky and tender. Pulled pork also very tasty. Even got a free drink by txting a number posted in the window. Chicken was on the dry side. Sides were small. Two of us ate there and got the Q picnic for 4. Sides included fried potatoes, Mac n cheese, corn fritters, and salad. Fired taters were good as with anything fried. Mac n cheese was ok nothing special and small portions. Corn fritters ok. Salad good. And then we also got a 5 th item. Asian cole slaw for free. Bonus. Tried it and wasnt crazy about it so I brought it back and asked for more fries. I head them say to put it in the back with the other slaw. I hope they didn't reserve it to someone else since that would not be good especially since I tasted it. Then they brought me more tatoes. Yea. But a min later worker came back and said u already got your sides to we need to take these back. Wtf. Take food back and then reserve it to someone else? Don't think I will b going back. No looking forward to getting someone else's food. I like to get fresh non tasted food. That's 2 sides they put back. I would think most food places would either let u keep slaw or toss it out not put it in back with the others. Then also taking back food from your table after you've eaten from it. Hmmmmm. Hope they threw it away for their sake. Although food was tasty. I will have to pass based on the way they handled returned food and taking food back from a customer. Granted it was a mistake I their end in the first place and technically I shouldn't have gotten 5 sides. But I did and they should have let it go IMO. read more

My husband and I wanted to try something different for our anniversary dinner. After the long wait we finally got out food. Over cooked, dried out ribs for him and "rib tips" for me. The rib tips are just cut up pork roast that was dry, cold and tough. The mashed potatoes had no seasoning and the coleslaw tasted like vinegar. The best thing on the plate was the bread. We won't be back. read more

First of all, some are complaining about the drive, really!? C'mon, ppl from the suburbs drive to the cities often for shows and such, no biggie and well worth it for the great BBQ. Went here for the first time today (on a Sunday) and because I like to come prepared and save everyone time, I looked up ontheir website all the choices and made a list of what we wanted for everything (for those complaining of wait time you might wanna try this) we arrived close to 6pm (no waiting at all, maybe because it was a sunday and labor day weekend) ordered quickly, got our drinks, found a table and about 15 min later our Picnic Combo (that says feeds 4, but fed 3 adults and 2 kids and we still had leftovers) arrives with our sides..Mac n cheese, potato wedges, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. The meat oh so tender and yummy and the sauces where zbest!!! Great deal! Fed a family of 5 for $50 and still had left overs! We will be going here again and bringing family with next time. Keep up the great hard work Charlie and staff!!! read more

I haven't been to the restaurant but we just had them cater our Holiday lunch. We had the pulled pork, pulled chicken, cole slaw, beans, potato salad and grilled vegetables. It was to die for. The meat was so tender it melted in your mouth and the flavor was awesome. I do think that my favorite, though, was the vegies. They are grilled and I don't know what they put on them but the flavors were unbelievable. I actually went back for seconds and loaded up on them. As a matter of fact, I think I will have some leftovers for breakfast this morning. This place isn't really convenient for me to drive to but after this, I would definately go out of my way to go there. read more

I had always wanted to stop there since seeing it on "Diner's, Drive in's and Dive's". Today was the day since I wS going up to check out the Coon Rapids Dam for fishing. I guess that was the up side. There was a really nice place to eat lunch near by. Too bad I could have gotte almost an identical on by stopping at Cub or Rainbow and picking up a tub of BBQ from Lloyd's, or some other type. I ordered red a pulled pork sandwich, because I asked the young woman at the window to recommend something and that is what she suggested. The pork came on a roll that might have been good, but because the pork was so thin, almost stringy, but most of all, I believe I could have taken a towel and wrang it around the clump of pork and the entire towel would have been filled with water. Which is what happened to my bun. It became completely SOAKED before I could even put any BBQ sauce on it. I did order a side of BBQ Beans and I will have to say that that were quite tasty. It had big chunks of ham ends which were really good, and basically made up my lunch because my sandwich was not edible. I don't think I'm being unfairly nice to the beans because I was hungry? They really were that good. As far as the pulled pork sandwich...What an embarrassment! Not sure how they can serve something like that and actually stay in business? That was almost comical it was so bad, and it would be if it didn't cost me so damn much money. read more

We had a large family event over the 4th of July weekend and we placed an order just a few days in advance and received unbelievable food. Everyone was looking for more food and next thing I knew, it was almost all gone and I didn't get a bite yet. Luckily I got a small pulled chicken sandwich but it made me want to go back for more. Thanks Q, you were a life saver. read more

best BBQ in the Twin Cities. Love going to lunch there during work. Very quick and unreal brisket, Mac and cheese and corn fritters!

Fantastic ribs, great smoke and flavor. Equal to or better than Louie's Bucket of Bones in Crosby/Ironton. Family dining without the wait staff. The regular sides were more than enough for two adults. The great smoke smell in the parking lot draws you in. read more

Odd little joint in a strip mall. Everybody orders at a window whether eating in or taking out. When I came, the wait was 50 minutes and they were out of ribs - but then they weren't! They had spare ribs but no back ribs. I got the order, took it home, and the family choked it down and liked it! Good meat of all kinds and fries and baked beans but no veggies or salads, according to the clerk. But then somebody told me they have good veggies with aioli! Why didn't the clerk say so? Oh well. They try to do right and the meat is good. So give this hole in the wall a shot but order ahead or be prepared to wait until the cows come home! read more

Q Fanatic was recommended by an employee of my brother that is a "foodie". We had a party of 50 catered. Chicken, pork and brisket were the meats with sides of potatoe salad, beans, cole slaw and grilled vegetables. The catering truck got to our party 15 minutes early which gave us extra time. Everything was great including the sauces. The brisket was exceptional. The price was very reasonable and the amount of food was way more than expected. the delivery people helped set up the tables with us. Fantastic group of people to deal with. Thanks Charlie! read more

For all the rave reviews, I have yet to have an okay meal there. Have been there several times and there is one consistency; it's inconsistent, food has been dry or too fatty, they've run out of a particular meat, side dishes are dried out and/or a skimpy portion. But I give places multiple chances, so will give it another try. read more

Pulled chicken sandwiches are to die for. Melt in your mouth goodness. We make the drive, and it's worth it. We always order to go, so can't speak to the dine-in experience. Make sure to order ahead of time or it could be a long wait. read more

Best BBQ in the area. We had the meal for two which included three meats. Pulled pork and chicken and also brisket. Everything was awesome Many sauces to choose from, but the meat is so good you will not need it. Sides are also very good. Try the corn bread! read more

Really fun group dinning experience! We ordered one of the large dinners/baskets for four. Generous portions that more than fed all of us! Amazing BBQ spot, probably one of (if not the) best in the cities! Go for the smell alone - it can be experienced from at least a mile out! read more

Q Fanatic has great food. This is a place in Champlin that pulls the foodies out of their usual haunts. Solid sides. Really nice hand made sauces but the meat is so good it is a shame to add sauce to it! The brisket is just art. read more

Love, Love, Love this place! We went for lunch today and got there right as they opened. The new dining room is fantastic -- what a huge difference! There were 4 in our group, and everyone ordered something different (brisket, pulled chicken, rib tip & pulled pork). We had our food in under 15 minutes, service was friendly, and everything was perfect. Best BBQ in the Cities! read more

Best BBQ in the north!! They where on the show diner drive ins and dives best ribs ever!

Great Que!! One of my top 3 BBQ joints in the state. Rib Tip sammy is amazing, love almost all of your sauces, as they have many. Love your side too, sometimes it takes awhile to get your grub but by the time you start to eat you forget the time it took, GREAT JOB!!, your starting to need a bigger location..... :) read more

WOW! what can I say about Q's!? They have the BEST Q on the Mississippi! I split the meat sampler with my girlfriend and we devoured it. It also gave us super powers! Eat here and you will get a super power. Seriously. You will be able to fly. 5 star experience. I can now fly. read more

Super great meal! So fun to go to a restaurant that limits the number of alcoholic beverages you can order. Cool.

1st timer, primarily exposed to Famous Daves for my BBQ fare in the past. To me, BBQ is primarily about PORK RIBS! I heard about Q-F from a friend and another friend of mine had been meaning to go, so we went on a Thursday night. Not busy @ 6P, so the wait time wasn't an issue for us. I personally didn't care for the sauces. Probably because my palate is used to more manufactured, high fructose corn syrup stuff. One of the sauces tasted like sweet dill pickles (which I don't like anyway) and the other was a kind of honey BBQ, which was alright. Where Q-F really shined was the RIBS! They are, in a word MEATY. The spices were really good too. Unlike FD's ribs it's the first time I actually had to put sauce (my own due to having leftovers) on BOTH sides of the ribs. I also had the wedge fries, which were also tasty. I would've given 5 stars save for the sauces. I would DEFINITELY recommend the 'que there, though. And going on a weekday night before 6P. :D read more

This review is for the new location in Minneapolis. I was very excited to see Q-fanatics had opened a restaurant on the south side of town. I have been to the restaurant in Champlin and I had the best brisket sandwich I have ever had. I was with 4 other co-workers and we all loved what we ordered. I went to the Minneapolis location and ordered the brisket sandwich that I have been thinking about for the last year and couldn't have been more disappointed. It was so dry that it was difficult to eat. When the lady was struggling to slice the brisket you would think she would realize what she was about to serve. I invited two other co-workers with and of course they also ordered the brisket sandwich after listening to me tell them how good it was. Needless to say they were also very disappointed. I would ask for a sample before I order the brisket at that location again. The restaurant look nice and the people seemed nice. I hope they read this review and learn from the Champlin store. I have told a lot of people how good this place was and I hope they have a better experience than I did. read more
