    Chicken cutlet
    Linda D.

YUM! Boo to my friend who was gate keeping thing place (jkjkjk) I ordered the polish plate to share with a friend of mine. It filled us both up! It came with kielbasa, potato pancakes, meat pierogi, mashed potatoes, and stuffed cabbage. Everything on that plate was so good! My favorite was the pierogi, potato pancake and stuffed cabbage. My other friend got a chicken cutlet that came with sauerkraut, beets and mashed potatoes. The cutlet was huge!! She said the dish was very good. We enjoyed our food as it felt comforting and homey. The service was friendly and she was informative of what we would be getting and how big the plate would be. It's not a restaurant style place. You order, find a place to sit, eat and go. We noticed a lot of working men go in and out for their lunch breaks and small families came in too. We didn't feel rushed either as we came before the lunch rush but I could imagine it being packed if you came during the lunch or dinner rush. Overall we really enjoyed this place and will come back again.

Really delicious and authentic Polish spot! Tried their potato dumpling, the saurkraut and mushroom pierogi, the boneless pork chop, and their kielbasa. They also came with sides such as pickles and yogurt soaked cucumbers which were great for cutting the meat. My Polish friend said all dishes were authentic and spot on but found the pickles to be younger than she is used to. I personally though the pierogi was the star. The sauerkraut tang didn't overpower the mushrooms which has a noticeable flavor. The wrappers were also thinner than other places so the ratio of the stuffed contents was great. The pork cutlet reminded me very much of schnitzel/milanesa but less salty. The kielbasa was very flavorful and balanced. Finally, the pyza (a dish I've never tried before so I don't have a great comparison point) was a plain dish with a thick wrapping and pretty unseasoned pork filling. Overall, great spot. Most everyone spoke Polish and they were playing a jeopardy-like game show on the TV, and had several ad booklets which looked like yellow pages. Prices are fair. Service is quick and generally friendly though the staff was noticeably less warm towards non-Polish speakers. They are cash only though so come prepared!

No frills & delicious Polish home cooked comfort food. A must try! This place was recommended to me by my Polish friend and she claims it's the most authentic borscht in the city. It did not disappoint. It's the kind of homey hardy comfort food you want on a cold day. The cheese potato pierogis always hit and paired so well with the sauerkraut side. The pickles we're good with the meat pierogis. The Ukrainian borscht was warm and seasoned. It's decent portions for decent prices. The service was nice and food came out quick. There's plenty of seating indoors. The interior has minimal decor and Polish TV playing. There's nice art work that kind of reminds me of being in someone's home.

Comfort food. Good portion. Dine in and take out. Will try other dishes next time, price range is good with all the tariff and inflation

This is a Mom and pop polish restaurant that reminds me of the cafeteria style dining that is common in Eastern Europe. The menu is taped on the wall and you order from the cashier and pay first. You then pick a seat and then wait for your food to be ready and you fetch it yourself from the cashier. The food was fairly priced for the size flavor and the amount of food. The cashier was nice enough to know we wanted to sample multiple things so for any entrees that come with one side- she did half portion of the sides so we could try diff types. Don't expect any ambience- but it's places like this that I love- the focus is on good affordable food.

Strong perogies spot to be found in Greenpoint. We came here for a snack--then we got a full meal for four. What doesn't sound like a lot is a lot. We ordered the potato and cheese perogies and the meat perogies for the table. Pretty sure it was beef, we didn't question the bricks of goodness. They are equivalent to a burrito each. I dare you to eat more than one order from Pyza. Great serving sizes in a simple and fast form. We also ordered fries that came to the table in the shape to 2-3 orders at any other place. Mountain of mayo per request. I would come here again for the carbs alone.

Meat perogies + cucumber salad and Kielbasa & potatoes + beet salad

Authentic affordable polish food! (And LARGE portions) Ambiance: no frills polish place, so many polish speaking customers, and polish tv playing in the background. Kielbasa + potatoes: kielbasa was savory and flavorful! The scoring of the kielbasa also gave it a nice chew and juiciness and made it easy to cut! Potatoes were a great combination to eat with kielbasa. Meat periogies: buttery, meaty, hearty. Not for the weak of heart. The dough was fresh and thin, the meat was so filling, and caramelize onions and butter covered everything. Other notes: each entree comes with a side salad! Recommend the beet salad! A nice sweet refreshing salad. If you want something very light and mildly creamy go for the cucumber salad!

It's a cafeteria style Polish restaurant, so order and pick up at counter and you bus your own table. Low pressure, love it. Place to grab a quick, filling meal. I only had the tripe soup when I was there and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back. It's cash only so make sure to bring money.

Love this traditional polish restaurant. They serve all the classic polish means as well as seasonal dishes such as blueberry perigee and blintzes . Place is always clean and it helps if you know a little polish or familiar with the food while ordering. I love their white borscht soup , perogies , mushroom sauerkraut , meat and cheese and potato. I also would recommend the Pyza what the place is named for, a potato dough like big dumpling filled with meat ... so yummy . They also have chicken and meat breaded cutletsand every entree comes with salads two to choose I normally get beets and cucumber salad . My favorite place to eat polish food and can not beat the prices , place is cash only

This is a very authentic Polish restaurant--everything is spotlessly clean and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food was incredibly fresh. We ordered the breaded chicken cutlet, chicken meatballs, and fried chicken roll, all of which were delicious. We were especially grateful that they offer a grilled chicken cutlet; it was perfect for a member of our party with dietary restrictions. Our waitress, Joanna, was the highlight of the night. She is beautiful inside and out, and her attentive, professional service made the celebration seamless. I would also like to say a huge thank you to our bus boy as well. We didn't get his name but he was exceptional to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Joanna, and the whole team for taking such great care of us! We will certainly be back.

We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time, though there were a few delivery orders. The restaurant has a homey interior, with callouts to their historic presence in Bay Ridge. We ordered the chicken klopsiki ($15.65) and the Hungarian pancakes ($20). Each dish comes with a house salad, which consists of red cabbage, sauerkraut, cole slaw, beets, shredded carrots, and lettuce. The salad had nice flavors and tasted fresh! I really enjoyed the chicken klopsiki, which is a chicken meatball. The meatball was moist, and the sauce had a nice flavor, like chicken soup. The only downside was that the mashed potatoes had no flavor and tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I liked the flavor of the Hungarian pancakes, but the ratio of pancake to filling was heavily skewed toward the pancake, which was just fried potato with minimal flavor. Therefore, I would pass on the pancakes and just get the goulash if I decided to return. Service was okay. When I asked the server for recommendations, she wasn't enthusiastic, but I was asking generally, and I could have been more specific. She left during our meal, and we had to call someone to give us the check. So after giving us the food, service was nonexistent. Overall, I liked some parts of the dishes, but nothing was so amazing that I would be itching to return again!

Once stepping into the store, you are met with large freezers and fridges stuffed to the brim with all things Ukrainian. Many of their dumpling items are in large packages (2-3lbs a pack) and range from $8-$15 per lb depending on the filling. $15 a pound for their lamb and short rib Pierogis. Price-wise, it's very fair! And you can taste to quality and heart they put into these Pierogis. Can't go wrong with any flavor. I got the lamb and it was stuffed with tender lamb pieces, no filler. And they make for great quick meals! I also snagged a box of cabbage rolls stuffed with a pork and rice filling. Simple home-y flavor and better than rolls I've gotten from restaurants. Just reheat and it's ready to go! $15 for 5 large cabbage rolls was a great deal as well! Would get again. The only thing I wouldn't get again is their soup dumplings, as it was a bit difficult to cook and was a little too doughy near the top of the dumpling. Flavor wise, it was delicious and had a nice broth (assuming you didn't pop them. Only 1 didn't pop). But it was a difficult item to cook right in boiling water, like the instructions mention.
