I've really been debating leaving this review because I did enjoy the painting (for the most part)…read more We (my husband and I) went for the very first time a couple weeks ago to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We made reservations ahead of time and when we got there they were assigning tables to sit at. We got shown out table and then we got moved. We were shown the other places to sit so we started looking for the pieces we were going to paint. We returned to the table and another lady started telling us to move again, we would be better off sitting somewhere else. So now we've been moved twice and we end up at a table with little kids who have zero interest in painting. They are on their phones and pushing/knocking the table and my husband and I are having to stop continuously so our painting doesn't get messed up (it did when the kid hit the table and we needed assistance fixing the piece-and we complained at that time). I should note-when we first arrived we told them we were celebrating our anniversary (they asked) and we were told "oh, you need to do a tile!." We didn't think anything of it at that time. When we were almost finished painting the plate we had picked out, a tile was brought over to us. We never asked for it and honestly forgot all about it. It was given to us and we were told to enjoy it. We finally finished the plate and tile so we brought them up to the front. There, we were charged for the tile we never asked for and to be perfectly honest had zero interest in doing - we didn't even put much effort into painting it because at that point we wanted to get out of there. The girl checking us out had no desire to follow up on it so we left, mad. I was told "give us 2 weeks" for the pieces to be ready. No other instructions. So I go yesterday to pick up the pieces -2 weeks and 3 days later. I walk in and tell the desk I'm here to pick them up. "Did you call first?" Ummmm, no, I wasn't told to do that and it's been longer than the 2 weeks. Then she can't find my stuff in the computer, both by phone # and name. I tell her the date we were there and she has to go find the actual paper slip. Then she can't find the pieces and there are now 2 people looking for the items. They finally find them after about 10 minutes of me standing stupidly at the front. Did I enjoy the actual painting? Yes Did I enjoy the overall experience? No Was the customer service good? Not great Will we go back? Probably not, I might give them a 2nd try by my husband will definitely not.

They have a lot more kinds of paint here than most pottery shops I've been to! It's a little…read morepricey, but the price includes unlimited access to paints, glaze, and firing in the kiln.

It is nice and glossy and it effectively removed that creepy unfinished clay like chalkboard feeling. They said it is dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe so excited to get it in rotation! They have a pretty quick turnaround time (3-5 days) and are very generous with their hold times. I embarrassingly will admit it took me a few months to get back to pick them up, and thankfully they still had them waiting in the back. Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. It was much easier to get there this time when I realized it was a pull-through garage under the building lol.... I will definitely keep The Painting Place on my list for pottery crafts in the future!!

They ensured you had all the information before you started and were ready at any point for any questions you had. The setup of the studio was also organized and allowed you to have creative freedom. Another unique aspect that the painting place had was that their color tiles (examples for how the paint would look after firing) also included swatches before the kiln, and how it would look based on the amount of coats you made. They also had an assortment of examples for different applications on your pottery such as masking tape, masking tape stickers, freckled paints, and even glazes you would see on professional pottery. Examples of what you could make and the colors you could choose were all over the studio for easy reference. I had a lovely time and would certainly come back.

I reached out to the studio and they told me my item was there... not sure what or how they were planning to get in contact with me. At the visit I left my name, my number, a description of my item and noted I painted my initials on the bottom of the item - wrote all of this down on the little scrap paper they gave me to write my info. I'm guessing they lost it.... I go to try and pick up my item today, sign says closed 7/18... it's 7/17, no mention on the phone when I called yesterday or on their social media page(s) that they would be closed due. Frustrating to say the least. Items available to paint upon arriving for the visit were sparse so overall, all of these things combined, it was not worth the hassle.

You can pick your own item to paint. They have so many different options to choose from in varying price ranges. They give you all the materials you need, including apron , sponges and paint. They also give you clear instructions and suggestions. I decided to paint a spoon rest, something I've been looking for- functional and pretty. It cost around $24 which was fair pricing. While picking what to paint, keep in mind you have around 1.5-2hrs. So plan accordingly! After our painting, they text you within 10 days and you can go pick up your masterpiece. Plenty of free parking lot as well as street parking available in the area. I will definitely be back.
