Great spot in Cumberland! Lots of different objects to paint and a variety of colors to choose as well. Prices are very reasonable for the size of the pieces. A little cramped today but thankfully we were able to take the last open table. If you have a bigger party I definitely recommend calling ahead. It was fun! A little more expensive than expected, $26 ish just for a small statue but whatever, it was about the experience. The reason I say it was only ok is because no one really spoke to us. We walked in and we had to go up and ask someone what to do, even though we were the only people in the studio. And then that was kind of the last time anyone spoke to us. Check ins or seeing if we had any questions would have been nice. Lots of choices and paint colors. They texted us earlier than expected to pick up, originally they said 2 weeks but it was only one which is great because 2 seemed long. Overall it was fun, but I had been years ago and it was more friendly and the artist helped us and gave feedback etc but this time it was more on your own and I had kids with me so I would have appreciated more interactions. read more

Fun couple of hours with my college aged daughter. Did some ceramic painting and reminded us of her days as a youngster painting these ceramics for Mothers and Fathers day. Place is pretty large, lots of long tables, some round tables, plentybof chairs. AC was pumping and a fridge with cold water bottles by the door. One price pays for it all, ceramic, paints, glazing snd oven kiln and pick up a week later. Very organized, provided a paint palette that you can squeeze the paint onto for your work. Small bottles for fine work. Plenty of brushes, paper towels and water for the brushes. Little expensive for 3 pieces $62, but it was a nice outing. Some music playing, parents, kids, grandparents and birthday parties. Daughter pained a frog i painted a small plate and a horse to be attached to the plate. Good for the afternoon, but eith a full house of young children it could be a zoo in there. read more

If I could give this establishment 1,000 stars I would! This place has become a little safe haven and outlet to let out my nieces artistic side. I enjoy going to paint with friends and the staff are always so friendly! Especially Holly and Rob! There's always a great playlist playing and endless pieces of pottery to choose from. The price of the pottery includes the brushes, paint, art space and staff firing pottery in their kiln. If you prefer to paint at home they offer to go paint. I love that you can also bring in your own food/beverages. It can get a little busy/loud on the weekends but that just goes to show how popular this establishment is. Feeling crafty, but not so talented in that department? Let me introduce you to Pea Poddery. Came here after brunch with my boyfriend and it was so much fun! My last pottery experience was a 5th grade art project and let me tell you - complete and utter disaster. So much so that I abandoned the craft forever. But a part of me was ignited that day... but like on easy mode. So first off, you walk in and you'll choose one of the already made (pots? potteries?) pieces. They've got different types and sizes to choose from. Planters, plates, ornaments, whatever tchotchkes your heart desires. They charge you for the piece you pick and that's it. After you check out, they'll give you a little template thingy and then you get to work painting! When you grab your paint, make sure to look at the colors on the wall and those are the true colors once it dries. Once you've got your paints picked out, you'll squeeze some onto your template thingy and bring it back to your table. All the tables have got paintbrushes and a jar of water (not for drinking) already provided. Once you get to painting, the thing to keep in mind is to have at least 3 coats of paint, otherwise the color will show up lighter than it really is. I guess the only downside is that you won't get your magnificent work of art until 7-10 days later. I'm sure because it needs more processing like putting on the glaze and stuff to make it all glossyyyy. It was a ton of fun and we're excited to get our pieces back! read more

What a cute place! On the main road, has its own parking lot (shared) and the girl working the counter was very nice. I went to a place like this in Worcester and I can day I liked their supply better but overall great prices and super simple concept. Pick an item to paint. Have fun painting! Come back and pick it up once it's gone in the kiln. Great for everyone! You don't have to be a painter to have fun and give it a go! Great date idea, great for kids and time with friends. Friday night... It was quiet when we started we had the place to ourselves but it livened up. One thing I liked better than the other place I went... I'm so sad to write this review, and my intention is not to damage their reputation, but to inform customers and make them aware of what may happen if they go to Pea Poddery. To start, I have taken my kids and their friends to Pea Poddery four times in the past couple of years. The experience of choosing the pottery, having technique options, and painting was good every time, which is why we have continued to go back. We were there last February (2019), had a good painting experience, but then had a terrible encounter when going to pick up our completed pieces. I'll start with that experience and then get to our more recent one. So, in Feb. 2019, I got the text that said our pieces were done and ready to be picked up. In total, we were picking up 11 items (we had a large group of family and friends for that painting session.) When I got there (a 30 minute drive from my house), they could not find our stuff. They looked and looked for a good 25 minutes or so. I produced the text that said it was ready and the receipt that listed all of our pieces (nearly $200 worth of pottery.) They looked at the slips stapled to every bag and could not locate ours.They even opened all of the stapled bags that had names similar to ours just in case our stuff was accidentally put in the wrong bag. Eventually, one of the workers there that day said there must be a mistake and that we were notified too early, that our pieces must not be done yet. We were annoyed for having made the trip there for no reason, but realized there was nothing we could do about it, so we decided to just leave and come back when we heard from them again, even though they could not even find our order slip anywhere. Just as we were walking out, another worker said she found some of our pieces in the kiln room. Phew! They were done, but not all of them. After about 40 minutes of being there, we ended up taking home 6 of our 11 pieces and were told they'd call us when our others were done (and located.) Fast forward to May 2019, three months later. I had forgotten about the pieces after a while because we had not heard from the Pea Poddery in months. That day in May, I had a voice message left on my cell phone. It was a worker from Pea Poddery rudely telling me that they've had 3 (not 5) pieces of my pottery since February and if we didn't come to pick it up in the next week, they were going to donate it. What??! Not an email, text or call since February, but now they're annoyed with US that we haven't come to pick up our art??! In the end, we never got the last 2 of our remaining pieces, and we were so disappointed in how things went down, and that we lost, not only our art, but also about $50 in merchandise. Pea Poddery did give us a coupon for 10% off our next visit as a consolation. Okay, so now we're in January 2020, present day. I went to Pea Poddery on Jan. 18 with my daughter and her friend. We spent a little over $100 on 7 items. The painting experience was fun and successful, like always. On Jan. 24, I got a text saying that our pottery was ready to be picked up. My husband and daughter made the trip to the store to pick up our pieces on 1/25/20. I sent him with the receipt and a detailed description of everything we painted, just in case they couldn't locate our stuff again. Sadly, it ended up being Round 2 of Pea Poddery not having our stuff. My husband texted me to say they couldn't find any of it and had no record of it. They had looked for about 10 minutes before my husband told them that this is not the first time this has happened to us. One of the workers looked right at him and said, "Then maybe you should find another place to paint." WHAT???!! He was so taken aback that all he could say was that we would. He said he would wait (and wait) until they found all of items because the text said they were done and he was not leaving without them, seeing as I spent over $100 there. The place was packed, so the workers were clearly very overwhelmed by my frustrated husband and the fact that there were so many other customers needing their attention. Another worker (a kind girl) started sobbing, according to my husband, and said this happens a lot at the store. She was so upset over how things were going that day. After 30 minutes of them not finding anything and having ZERO record of our order, my husband asked for the manager's name and number and called him, only to leave a voice message stating how bad the service was and how rude the one woman working there was. Once again, right before walking out, another worker found 2 of the 7 pieces in the back room. They were not bagged, not wrapped, but just sitting on a shelf. WHY TEXT THE CUSTOMERS THAT THEIR ORDERS ARE READY WHEN THEY'RE NOT??? Our other 5 items still have not been located. One was a vase I made in memory of a recent passed family member, and I am so sad and disappointed that it may never be recovered. Pea Poddery, please get your act together! What an ideal place for a kids birthday party! (I guess you can figure out why we went to Pea Poddery! ;) I honestly would never have stumble upon it in its small plaza off of Rt 295... but now that I know it is there, we may just go back.) Our pottery B-day party consisted of about 10 kids all around the age of 5 yo old. They set the kids up a small private room in the back, but allowed the parents to wander at will. Melanie was our hostess and she set the kids up with all their pottery, brushes, paint etc. I have never seen so many preschoolers sit so intensely focused for such a long time! Everything was well organized but they still were able to give the kids plenty of time to finish their craft. It was a complete success. Since it was a bday party, I can not speak to the cost of the figurines or the activity, but I can totally see myself bringing my kid and a few of her friends back here on a rainy (or snowy) day. read more

I really enjoyed the take home packages while we were stuck at home. We were able to paint them at home and it kept the kids busy for a while! It was my first time dealing with them and there great. It did take some time to pick up the package as they were busy and understandly not letting people in the store. I had my daughters birthday party here and it was by far the most relaxed party she's ever had! The kids had fun and adults were at ease. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was sorely disappointed with a recent experience going to a girls' night out there. My friend arranged it, collecting $14 from each of us for a BYOB night. We arrived to a packed place with long lines. I fully expected the $14 would be applied to a piece of pottery to paint, but no, the pieces were additional! My friend was so embarrassed and apologetic. Apparently, the $14 was for a cheese and eclair spread from BJ's or Costco and 80s music on the speakers. Love this place! Paint your own pottery complete with piece, paint, kiln firing, and glazing. Super friendly and helpful staff as well as pieces from $1-$100.00. Good variety of kiddy projects and household items for adults to paint. Went with a group of 20-something year olds and loved it! I will say that my family and I enjoyed being able to spend time together at home with these to-go-kits during this Covid 19 pandemic. Very innovative idea. With that being said... a business is only as good as its employees. Unfortunately, our first experience with pea poddery yesterday became our last. I am not sure what this employees name is but she was working roughly around noon on Sunday. She was extremely unprofessional and rude in the short interaction I had with her. The sign on the door instructed to only enter the building if there was less than 3 people inside. Before entering I looked into the building, seeing only her inside... so I entered as instructed. She greeted me with an abrupt "oh, you can't be in here". I responded "I am picking up". She replied "what's the name, I'll leave it on the chair outside". I gave her my name and waited outside. A few moments later this employee opened the building door, left the kit on a chair and then proceeded to put a sign out that said "stop, call first!" She did not apologize for the miscommunication or even acknowledge me as a human being before closing the door. Times are very tough right now on everyone and I thought supporting a local small business was the right thing to do. But I will be bringing my business elsewhere going forward. read more

Wasn't too pleased that the princess event was falsely advertised. The event add featured professional princess ranging from Ariel through Cinderella. It showed about 10 princesses. The cost was $20. When we arrived we chosen from 3 small figures. They had a nicer selection that were pricer. My daughter wanted a castle but I didn't want to pay extra. I wish they had smaller versions of the bigger figures. The princesses were high school girls dressed in Halloween costumes. They only had 3 princess. Not very impressed... Just visited this place for the first time with two kids, and I highly recommend it for any age! Definitely need to do a ladies night there soon! Basically, you pick a ceramic piece to paint, pay for the piece, choose whatever paint you want, and paint! At the end, you hand it to the staff, who will call you in about a week after they finish it up in the kiln! The pieces cost a little more than normal, but that is because the paint, glaze, kiln, is "free." It's a walk-in, so no appointment necessary, but if you check their site, they have special events and theme nights. read more

I had been anticipating a visit to Pea Poddery since they first opened. I finally got my opportunity this past weekend, arriving with a girlfriend to enjoy a relaxing pottery painting experience. My friend and I walked into Pea Poddery and immediately sort of stood there not knowing what to do or where to go. We finally made our way to the back of the store towards the counter where there was a small line and waited so we could ask "We're new - what happens first?" Just before reaching the front of the line I saw a young girl with a store shirt on (her back to us, facing the counter, seemingly just standing there and not doing anything) so I said "Hi there. We've never been here before and don't really know where to start? Could you help?" She stated that we go and pick out a piece of pottery. That's it. (Customer service skills were severely lacking - but I don't really blame her - she appeared to be very shy and a young teenager, perhaps new and at her first job - I don't know - but she didn't look happy to be there) So my friend and I went into the area with the blank pottery and looked around for a bit to select what to paint. Once we found our pieces we just assumed to go to the counter to pay for them. (Or do you paint first and then pay?? We didn't know. But thankfully guessed correctly) Behind the counter was a very pleasant woman who rang us up and let us know where the paints and glazes were and a little about them. Then...that was it. The rest of the time (regarding the pottery painting) was basically feeling like we had to figure it out on our own - and I'm sure that there were tips or tricks that could have made things easier for us...? A tip sheet? Something? I don't really know haha. We did find ourselves extremely frustrated by the young children running around the tables playing tag. I get that this is a kid-friendly establishment, but if the parents weren't going to say anything then a staff member should have - I had just paid $26 for a plate and, while carefully painting my design, several times came very close to having a child bump me as they ran around the tight quarters hitting each other with candy. Also, the music selection was really odd - 70's acid rock....really not conducive to a relaxing pottery painting session. Some nice acoustic tunes would have really been more appropriate? The Pro's --- Great location and easy to find from the highway. Lovely look inside the place - very nicely designed and laid out. Nice selection of pottery to choose from - a little something for everyone. Acceptable prices for the pottery (though I wouldn't be ok having to pay any higher) - for those who think the cost is too much per item, keep in mind that it's the only cost and not only covers the pieces of raw pottery, but also goes towards the paint you'll use, wear and tear on the brushes, overhead, the firing of your piece(s) and the over all experience. So again, I found this reasonable. The Con's --- Zero direction for newcomers. (And only if you ask for help) Only one staff member seemed personable (the woman who rang us up) - the others were quiet (and seemed quite young) and didn't interact with customers - they sort of stood around looking like they didn't know what to do. And that music - bad choice. Suggestions for the establishment in the event that they read this review: Especially when it's busy (as it was this weekend), have a greeter near (or watching) the door. Someone who can say "Is this your first time?" And if we said YES, "Great, well let me give you a little tour and tell you about how this works and where to start!" (And to do so with enthusiasm, unlike the shy quiet girl who looked like she wanted to disappear and not make eye contact with us.) We'd never painted pottery before - your staff needs to all be enthusiastic (or at least out going) - get us excited and we'll be more likely to come back! Would I return? Well, yes, in approximately 2 weeks to pick up my fired pieces. Would I return again to paint? Possibly. But maybe only on an adults-night. read more

Today my daughter and her best friend attended the Princess Extravaganza at the Peapoddery. The advertisement for this event said there were princesses walking around while the kids paint pottery. It also said there was plenty to chose from and the price to attend was $20 per painter which included the pottery. It's a 1 hr event. When we arrived , before entering the door, we were to chose our piece to paint. There were about 8 choices, BUT the pottery pieces that were included in the Ticket price were only three . A small princess, a small unicorn head and a small pony were the included in price pieces. For an additional $12 you could choose from a good size castle which was probably about 10 inches tall, a princess the same as the one included but it was probably 10 inches and Also couple others. My daughter wanted the castle , but I didn't want to pay more so she got the pony. It took all of ten minutes to paint as did the small princess her friend chose. To make matters worse the pottery is fired at a later time , so in two weeks I have to return to pick up my item. So we left empty handed. The three princesses were sweet, but not high quality or professional. They were no older than I'd say 19 years old if that. I would not recommend this to anyone. Crowded, cheesy choices, over priced and you don't get even chose your paint colors. Not mention again that do not leave with the product you paint. Never again. read more
