A perfect escape from the summer heat, and big bonus that the coffee shop next door delivers until late afternoon. My daughter had a blast toddling around, checking out all the activities and watching the bigger kids. So many cool things to explore. While during one visit it was quite busy due to camps and parties, everything remained clean, safe, and secure. Loved the themes of the different areas and that age recommendations were provided. When it's busy, you pay for 2-hours per child, with 2 adults free per child. It's a very affordable experience. If it's not busy, you can stay as long as you'd like. You're welcome to bring outside food (I saw many families bring pizza for Friday not dinner, great idea imo) and they have some food and drink available for purchase on-side in addition to the adjacent coffeeshop. This really is a huge win and I'm so happy to have this in the area!

At no point during check-in did the staff inform us that the facility's restrooms were inoperable due to a sewage-related issue. After entering, I learned that guests were expected to use the restroom at Marshall's next door, which was hand written paper posted on their bathroom doors. We went over to Marshalls as directed and this was especially concerning because the facility had also admitted a camp group of more than 20 children, who were waiting in line at Marshalls that was almost 20 children to use a two-stall restrooms. Despite the lack of working restroom facilities onsite, Kids Empire staff continued allowing additional families and guests to enter without clearly disclosing the situation beforehand. I was told by a staff member I could use the restroom and Roto-Rooter was just finishing up in the women's room. I opened the door to find sewage water in the women's restroom. The staff seemed unconcerned. Had I been informed before using our Return Pass, I would not have entered the facility that afternoon. Access to a safe and functioning restroom is a basic necessity, particularly in a children's play facility serving young children and large camp groups. I was contemplating calling the Rhode Island Department of Health. Once I became aware that the restrooms were not operational, I asked a staff member to provide another Return Pass so that my son and I could return on a day when the facility was fully functional. They even accommodated older children at the party and made rules clear on certain things they were not allowed to go on. Quick Tip: Bring extra quarters for the little rides in the middle. The owner and staff were both super polite! There is a large grassy area filled with toy houses that the kids can go inside. There are also some swings and a pretty toddler safe jungle gym. There are a few things about the jungle gym that aren't great for the under 3 crowd, namely a set of climbing rungs built for taller kids and there are 1 or 2 spots on the second level that don't have a railing so if your child doesn't understand how gravity works yet they are liable to step off the edge and fall 4-5 feet to the sandy ground. There is also a cement area with 2 toy basketball hoops that I've witnessed many a stumbling toddler fall on. I appreciate all the benches for parents and misc. caregivers to sit and chat (a big plus if you're there for 1-2 hours a day and don't feel the need to hover obsessively over your child). Best part is that it's gated and that almost every area of the park is clearly visible from every bench (again, great if your an aware, but not obsessive parent). The only major con is the cleanliness of the park, specifically the amount of trash on the ground. There are a few garbage cans but I regularly see people just leaving napkins and wrappers on the benches or ground. It would be great to see people throwing out their trash or seeing the city clean up once in a while. Another lesser con is that nobody bothers to throw away any broken toys, there have been a few times that I've had to deal with a baby crying because I wouldn't let him impale himself on a jagged, broken shovel piece. So that's less than ideal.

Front desk staff is nice and efficient, was able to quickly get you checked in, paid, and into the venue. Plus is they dont require their own branded socks as many other places do so that helps your pocket and the environment. A bunch of claw machines at the front. Theyre rigged against you as always, spent $20 and didnt win a single animal. No pity either from the staff. The venue itself is relatively kept up and clean, though you can tell some areas have been destroyed by kids (e.g. any of the self-play areas with plastic toys). The slides and ball pit is fun, but lack of staff oversight can make it dangerous (kids running up slides, or pushing other kids around). Lots of cool tech activities to do, moreso the other places I've seen. Some of them dont work too well though (e.g. the jumping game senses adults, not little kids). Worth a trip or two in the area, and probably a gold standard for Boston, but other cities has this beat by far.
