I took an offsite class offered by Vindauga Glass, so can't really comment on the studio itself. I can however review the quality of the instruction Deenie offered, and the preparation she put into ensuring that we had everything needed for both a fun experience, and unique glass piece I made by myself. Deenie came to the session shaped with a three page information sheet (including reminders about how sharp cut glass is!), pre-cut and beautifully shaped options in several colors that we could select from for the top and bottom layers of our pieces, about 12 colors of paint, glass "chips" to sprinkle on our pieces and larger shaped bars and bits of glass to use for more explicit forms on our pieces, glue and other needed items. I was most impressed by the care Deenie took to demonstrate a number of steps we could take and styles/materials we could select from to make a piece tht was truly "ours", and by her offer of gloves to protect our hands. She provided us each our own "work stations" and a shared marked space for used spoons, toothpicks, etc to ensure that the fresh and altered glass supply wasn't going to get mixed. Deenie clearly communicated the steps we'd need to finish our pieces at home after she fired them for us, and also how long that process would take and where she'd deliver the finished work. She made sure we all labeled our pieces and stored them safely for transport to her kiln for firing. Class ran about two hours, and at the end all of the 15 or so the participants swarmed the tables to see what each of us had created. This class was so much fun! I have two of Deenie's glass pieces, one acquired as a gift and the other from a gallery show. I love these for their subtle simplicity at a glance yet they are deep and nuanced when I look into them. One is a sun catcher the other a dish. Solidly made, enduring both physically and thematically, they bring warm sentiments and good energy. I highly recommend her studio, her works and though I haven't attended a workshop, it's on my list. read more

This studio offered a groupon deal for making fused glass pendants so of course I bought one and forced a friend into participating in another one of my hobby finding adventures. I thought the class was enjoyable and the atmosphere was fun (though we had some scheduling issues - blame is on Groupon - so it was closely packed). Because of our large group you could tell the instructor was overwhelmed but I think it would be an amazing small class which she now limits all classes to 4 people. In class she demonstrates and explains then lets you go with your creative freedom. She's very encouraging and tells everyone to "ruin" one which was incentivized as try something new maybe it will work maybe it won't. (I am 99% sure mine won't work but it was so fun to try and I have 3 others that look amazing anyways!) I will note the studio was rather unfinished and cramped which could be improved upon. It's a shed in the back of a residential house which needs some updating. Overall a pretty good experience and I can't wait to get my pendants once they are ready for pick up. read more
