The most authentic, and the true taste of India is found in Montreal at Pushap. This place has been here for decades, the deliciousness hasn't change. The restaurant itself looks like Indian diner, with amazing aroma around. We ordered a Thali which includes two vegetarian curries, a one lentil dish, with rice and Bathura. Another plate of potatoes curries with bell peppers and chapati. It reminded me of home food from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. It was unbelievable so good. The service was super prompt and amicable. You will always leave a satisfied customer.

After years of getting samosas from Pushap for fundraisers, we just had to make an visit to the restaurant itself. We went there a while ago with a visiting friend, as were not disappointed! The place was fairly small and cozy, but welcoming. The prices were really good, with enticing options we had to strategically order to maximize the experience between the three of us. The food came fairly fast and was delicious! The naan were hot and crispy on the edges, but soft and malleable for the curries. The richness of the flavors was great. We also tried several of the sweets from the dessert counter. These was very pretty, but maybe not for me (I don't tend to eat sweet). Nice spot, I wish it was closer to my neighbourhood!

Lovely place, I've been going here with my family since I was a kid and the ambiance has never changed. We're always so happy to see the owner and his family, the service is impeccable. It's a great restaurant to eat at especially during the cold winter season and the food is heartwarming.

    19$ for this ??? :S

Decided to try Pushap as it was one of the most reviewed Indian restaurants in all of montreal as per google suggested! The service was impeccable very friendly, fast and efficient! The place itself is a hole in the wall that needs major updates! We ordered in as we weren't in the mood to eat there.. It just threw me off a bit the place was not that nice and clean. Food: it was mediocre .. It was good but not worth all the hype. We ordered some shahi paneer .. Roasted Eggplant Pricing was ok but we got tiny little 12oz bowls.. not much to eat for dinner if you ask me ! Portions aren't as generous and it didn't taste as good as some of the other Indian places I've been to! We were still hungry and had to whip up more food after! Overall, It was alright but don't think it was worth all the hype. Plus our bags were not properly packaged so all our food was leaking everywhere got soooo messy ! Don't think I'll be back.

Good Indian food , only cash but they except USD

I will give 3.5 , if I could . Have really mixed view. I Love paratha , kulacha and samosa chaat. Pakora was ok but chutney excellent. And biggest letdown was bhatura - was dripping with oil and chewy. Tea was so good and lassi was tasty but more like juice. Sweets let me down : Ordered rasgulla and ladoo. Rasgulla was so dry and ladoo was ok

A colleague of mine once claimed that he had the best Indian meal at Pushap, on Rue Paré. As I was in the vicinity, I decided to make a stop on a Sunday morning. We ordered samosas, puri (fried pancake), paratha (flat bread) and gulab Jamun for takeout, so that we can have them at home for lunch. We waited for a little while as the puri and paratha were being freshly cooked. Samosas were on sale - 12 for $6, and they were huge. We bought only 2, because at this price, and the size, there must be a catch somewhere. We HAD to start lunch early to dig in! Everything heated, of course. Pleasantly surprised to find that that the samosas were delicious, crust flaky, with the perfect balance of the vegetable curry mix filling. The paratha were equally good, and you can peel off layers, like an onion. Both the paratha and the puri would probably taste best if consumed on site, when freshly prepared. This is an all vegetarian restaurant. Good thing that we had cash, as they do not take debit or credit cards. Would definitely go there again.

The restaurant is vegetarian but has tons of vegan options. Their vegan options are clearly indicated on their website. I had the combination meal C that I only had to replace one cheese dish to make vegan. The food was dirt cheap but sooo delicious and filling. I love how flavorful Indian cuisine is and how many spices it incorporates into the dishes! Note that this place only accepts cash. Main meal: Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower curry) Bharatha (roasted eggplant w onion, tomato, and spices) Dal Tarka (lentils w spices and fried onion) Cabbage salad Basmati rice Chapati Bathura (fried flatbread) Also came with 2 pakoras, 1 samosa, and a non-dairy dessert (which was a compact brown square, but oddly quite good)

If you are in the mood to eat out yet are watching your wallet look no further than Pushap. This Indian restaurant near Decarie serves up mighty delicious Indian food at incredibly low prices. If you go or went to McGill at any point in your life you might already have had your first taste of Pushap because they supply the samosas for the many samosa sales you see around campus. It is vegetarian only so it is not the best place to bring a bona fide carnivore but everyone else will probably love it. Whenever I come here I have my go to dishes. I always have to start with a chana samosa which is a samosa served with chickpeas and chutney. It is probably my favourite Indian dish and they do it so well here. I can never say no to it. That is always followed by a thali which has a sampler of different menu items. There is always so much food and it all tastes so damn good. I always leave Pushap full and content. They also offer a variety of Indian sweets should you be craving dessert. I can't remember the names of any of them except for gulab jamun but for the most part they are delicious. Some can be a little too sweet for my liking but that is more a question of personal taste. When I say it's cheap I am not kidding around. You can easily get a three course meal here (appetizer, thali and dessert) and end up paying less than $15. Did I mention that tip is included in that total? How can you go wrong with prices like that? I always get so happy at the prospect of a visit to Pushap. Sometimes I am in the mood to eat out without breaking the bank. Fortunately Pushap is there for those times.

One of the most solid Indian restaurants in Montreal! Not gonna lie, I went there in search for samosas after they stopped selling them at McGill for "sanitary issues". Went there at around 7:30pm AND THEY WERE OUT OF SAMOSAS. I went there countless of times and they always were full of samosas so this was a shocker for me. I still got to enjoy a great meal there. The food itself was great. I got a thali plate and a mango lassi which ended up to a total fo 10$. The flavors were great and the quantity was good for the price. The mango lassi was very sweet, which was expected for this type of drink. Oh also, if you get the thali, it also includes a sweet dessert. But you'll have to ask for it otherwise they won't serve it to you. Talking about service, it was absolutely horrendous. The place was full and they only had ONE person serving everyone (which was about 30-35 people). Insane. Needless to say, the service was super slow and our water was never refilled. Thankfully the food was good enough to save this restaurant, hence why this is a 4 stars review instead of a 5 stars.

Where shall I begin with this restaurant? If you love Indian food and don't like spending tons of money for good comfort food, then this is the place for you. It's a family run business. The menu offers different Indian food. I had the Chana thaali with poori and it was good! Their samosas are very well known for. They're freshly made. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you're a huge fan of Indian food and also your wallet isn't gonna cry over it as it is very affordable

my favorite Indian Vegan place. went there many time for several years. I especialy like the Combo Thali 9$. The samosa are so good. Service a little bit slow. parking is difficult to find

Love this place! The thali plate is the best option for people who dont really know Indian food. You get to have several different dishes in one meal and they change everyday. The naan bread is soo good dipped in the sauce. I particularly like the spinach one. I also really like the samosas. The filling with potatoes and herbs is so satisfying and the sweet sauce balances all the flavours. The price is also really good. 6 samosas for 2.50$. Note that this place is all vegetarian but the food is so good you will forget about the meat. Also they only take cash so if you are like me and never carry cash, make sure you prepare before going. The staff is always really nice and takes the time to explain the dishes even when it's busy.

I visited this resto twice in one week! Usually I would order for pickup but I decided to dine in. A small family scale restaurant by namur. Food is incredible and the price is so reasonable! Staff is very friendly. Both times I ordered a veggie thali with a bhatura. I chose 2 veggie dishes of my choice. Really enjoyed the eggplant dish and shahi paneer. You also get a gulab jamun as dessert. It was so so good when warm. We ordered a nice cup of chai which was perfect with the syrupy dessert. I had the lentil soup which was tasty but it lacked some salt. I also had the potato paratha. I wasn't impressed because they used the same samosa potatoes so the potatoes weren't cooked through. I also found it on the smaller side. I did enjoy it and would probably order again in the future. I would definitely go back. The only reason it loses a star is because it's quite crammed up and it was difficult to walk around when it was full.

The matcha latte with almond milk really woke me up. And i was hungry and needing some vegan protein, since the airline food I got was mostly salad. Their braised tofu with a lovely optional creamy coriander sauce, and cooked with mixed vegetables absolutely hit the spot. It was served with warm fluffy basmati rice. The tofu serving was substantial, the braising sauce was very tasty, and the tofu was firm and chewy and filled with saucey flavor. The optional coriander creme sauce and fresh limes were a great complement to the braising sauce. Around me i could see servings of chili, their vegan poutine fries, and the chesesteak come out of the kitchen, and noticed other tables were also complementing their food. I finished with a tangy lemon tart slice and vegan whipped cream - very nice. The tables are fairly close together as it's in town center. They've got several two top tables. This was great for me as a lone traveler, as I easily struck up a conversation with the couple sat on the table next to me, and we had a great chat about how good the restaurant was and then everything under the sun. They were there to celebrate a birthday and the friendly owner who'd come over to talk to them a few times, sent them home with an extra dessert. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I plan to go back during my week here and try some other dishes.

About 15 tables maybe. Very cozy, perhaps too cozy... I made reservation and I am glad I did as it was packed inside. I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich with the side salad. The vinegarette was balsamic, it was good but the salad did not have a lot of dressing on it, 4/5. Service was prompt and courteous. Prices are decent. Definitely recommend

Montreal's most magical dining experience!…read more If you're looking for a reason to book a trip to Montreal, let me give you one: Tula. My husband and I visited during a recent trip to the city, and without question, it was the best meal we had -- and honestly, one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. From the moment you walk through the door, the space wraps you in warmth. The atmosphere is inviting, the decor puts you instantly at ease, and the staff greet you with the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare. But it's Abhi and Renata (apologies if I've misspelled either name!) who truly make this place something extraordinary. These two are the heart and soul of Tula, and their passion for what they do radiates through every single aspect of the experience. We spent a few wonderful hours there, and I mean that -- the time just melted away. Renata sang for the entire restaurant, and her voice was absolutely stunning, a spontaneous and beautiful gift to everyone in the room. Abhi, in the most generous gesture, sat down and hand-wrote a list of vegan restaurant recommendations from around the globe for us to take home. These are people who love what they do and love the people they do it for. And then there's the food. Oh, the food. We started with an Indian taco special that set the tone perfectly, then moved on to the Tofu Achari Masala curry with chapati and the Dal Sambar with steamed rice -- both absolutely spectacular. We finished with a special pistachio cake dessert that was the perfect, dreamy ending to the meal. Every single dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and intention, because it was. This is vegan Indian cuisine at its very finest. I left Tula feeling something I didn't quite expect: greater faith in humanity. That might sound dramatic, but if you go -- and you absolutely must go, as soon as possible -- I think you'll understand exactly what I mean. Don't wait. Just go.

Abhishek the owner is a person my Saraswat folks would be proud of. Representing the culture so well but also acing at hospitality. Come here to find out what I mean. He juggles customer's needs, kitchen times, and the ambience like a ballet dancer that's training to do this since birth! The food is so homely. It is full of flavors without forcing the oil, salt, or bulby aromats. You feel so satiated yet don't leave with a bloated stomach and a cloudy mind. The menu is beautifully curated. For a first timer, just do the thali. Be adventurous and choose the sassav, the koliwada, the ghasis. If not, do the more popular vegetarian meals you won't regret anything. Their mock/cocktails are equally amazing. 100/10 would recommend!

I wouldn't go out of the way for this place, but I'll definitely be reordering. The bad: The naan. I would be shocked if this was never frozen, and would have a heartbreak if someone actually made this from scratch in the restaurant as it comes across as grocery store frozen/microwaved naan... but not as good. The ok: The tandoori chicken, so bright and looking delicious; fell flat on flavor, but for the price I can't say it was bad as it fit the bill. Didn't like that their JustEat menu didn't include a bunch of the things that they deliver based on the pamphlet that came with my order, but I can also understand them trying to limit reorders with JustEat since they pinch a piece of the pie. The good: The lamb curry had a good taste to it, not spicy, but a well balanced kick of flavor. Overall I overpaid for what I got, but only by a little bit and because I'm frugal. Moving forward I know what more to order to get a better bang for my buck. Authentic? Not really. Based on the area I can understand that they might have been forced to Westernize their dishes, but would have been better if it were traditional. When the naan isn't even made on site you're unlikely to get much else thats made with love.
