Le Super Qualité is one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal not owned and cooked by any "desi" but by Quebecers who perfected every dish on the menu with its perfect flavors. The idea is to serve "dhaba style food", so street food. Everything is served on a type of silver plates (Bento style) as you would find in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka . The service is awesome and quick. This is my 5th time at this specific restaurant, (and I went to the Central branch countless times), and I tried every single dish. My top favorites are fried okra, Pav Bhaji, Pav Kebab, Dahi Batata puri and masala chai. The prices are super reasonable. The vibe is busy there; you can see people loving their food very much. 100% recommended!

Fun meal, delicious food, great service. We'll have to go back to try all the things we wanted to.

While searching for restaurants amidst a cold afternoon, I came across this place and decided to give it a try (had good ratings). Let me tell you, the food was delicious. I couldn't believe I was in Montréal. Limited menu which is the best part, so you can pretty much try everything. Me and my husband decided to try their Masala dosa, vada pav, dahi puri and chicken 65. Everything from getting the masala right to the presentation, the food did complete justice. If you're in Montréal, a must visit to this place. I realised it quite later that they have 2 locations, but nonetheless, a very happy and pleasant food experience *_*

Several friends had visited this establishment and spoke about how they were obsessed with the authenticity of the flavours and experience and kept suggesting we go here sometime. I'm of South Asian descent and not easily impressed by the Indian & Pakistani restaurants in Montreal. So the hesitance was natural. Last week my husband and I were in the area and decided to see what they hype was all about. If I could give this place more then 5 stars, I would. The food literally took me back to Pakistan and it's street food!! We ordered Dhai Puri, Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Okra Fries and Masala Chai to share! The minor details brought back here of the flavours, ingredients, spice levels, menu, utensils, cutlery was overwhelming to the point where I teared up and started feeling homesick. Been here twice within this week, and tomorrow will be my third time!

Non Indian owners opening up an Indian restaurant. (There was an Indian cook) Of course I am going to try it! I came here on a Friday evening. The place was hard to find driving by in the winter snow but I managed. A very small compact space with south Indian street stop influenced decor including thumbs up, fanta bottles, tiffin boxes up on display, and a small Ganesh statue in front of the cash. Can't forget the bright Neon hand light-that's hard to miss. The menu was playing it pretty safe with a few choices: I commend that because even a few items cooked and prepared perfectly go a long way. The menu changes on a weekly basis to different regions of India (I believe for the thali). The owners were preparing for a trip to India over holidays - this was impressive-and s A for effort for staying current with authentic Indian food trends! Entrées: dahi batata puris (comes 6 pieces for 7$-vegetarian) this was a perfectly done dish (5/5) the fact the potatoes were finely chopped, the use of fresh Channa vs canned, garnished with tamarind sauce, the yogurt was not too sweet-all in all a good bite of goodness that melted in my mouth. Entrées: thali (available with veg or non-veg 17 vs 18$) we went with the the veg option to share -came with 4 items, papadam chips and rice. (3/5) I found extremely bizarre there was no naan bread that is a gold standard for ANY thali. There were 4 curries: eggplant, spinach (a bit under cooked), sambar (vegetable curry that usually goes with dosa), and daal/lentil soup. On a whole I was impressed with the quality of food that in fact did resemble a traditional Indian dish you would find back home. We also had the dosa -11$, 4/5. This dish was great up to the detail it came served on a banana leaf. The dosa is a crepe with a potato filling, served with a side of coconut chutney (lacked flavour) and sambar (same one from the thali). Drinks: Billy Mitchell (3/5) was a different take on a Margarita with bitter gourd -tad on the bitter side but enjoyable. The bloody rasam (1/5) came in a large format didn't taste good at all with a pickled okra (they seem to really like their okras) and a masalafied blood Caesar just did jive right when the meal. Regardless, I'm still curious to come back again..especially for the dahi puris! good attempt to Indian cuisine.

As adorable as this place is, filled with fun, hipster Indian style, it really left me wanting to go to Jean Talon for a proper Indian thali. We arrived so full of hope to this perfectly hipsterized little Indian spot. The service was friendly, the decor impeccable, and the menu very promising. So we ordered some Indian classics, such as a thali and a street food dish called chaat and eagerly awaited for our feast. This is where, unfortunately, the love story ends. The food was lacking spice and flavour. It was also very heavy on rice and fillers (chevda- classic Indian chip like snack), but very low on meat and veg dishes. Considering the prices are at least double of what you would pay on Jean-Talon, this was quite disappointing. If you're looking for a cute spot in the neighbourhood, this might do the trick, but if you're craving good Indian, I wouldn't recommend it.

Indian street food alert! They only have 6-7 dishes on the menu. We tried like 4 and 3/4 tasted almost authentic. They definitely nailed the Vada Pav. We were in food coma and so happy to finally eat some good Indian food. They have some cocktails on the menu as well. I loved the place - so funky and Indian. Very refreshing to see an Indian restaurant which is not just lame table and chairs with those white table cloths. The service was amazing. The impressive thing is that this place is not run or owned by Indians. It's nice to see their passion for Indian food brought to life to create something Super! Keep up the great work.

Montreal's most magical dining experience!…read more If you're looking for a reason to book a trip to Montreal, let me give you one: Tula. My husband and I visited during a recent trip to the city, and without question, it was the best meal we had -- and honestly, one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. From the moment you walk through the door, the space wraps you in warmth. The atmosphere is inviting, the decor puts you instantly at ease, and the staff greet you with the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare. But it's Abhi and Renata (apologies if I've misspelled either name!) who truly make this place something extraordinary. These two are the heart and soul of Tula, and their passion for what they do radiates through every single aspect of the experience. We spent a few wonderful hours there, and I mean that -- the time just melted away. Renata sang for the entire restaurant, and her voice was absolutely stunning, a spontaneous and beautiful gift to everyone in the room. Abhi, in the most generous gesture, sat down and hand-wrote a list of vegan restaurant recommendations from around the globe for us to take home. These are people who love what they do and love the people they do it for. And then there's the food. Oh, the food. We started with an Indian taco special that set the tone perfectly, then moved on to the Tofu Achari Masala curry with chapati and the Dal Sambar with steamed rice -- both absolutely spectacular. We finished with a special pistachio cake dessert that was the perfect, dreamy ending to the meal. Every single dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and intention, because it was. This is vegan Indian cuisine at its very finest. I left Tula feeling something I didn't quite expect: greater faith in humanity. That might sound dramatic, but if you go -- and you absolutely must go, as soon as possible -- I think you'll understand exactly what I mean. Don't wait. Just go.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!
