We were staying at the Ritz which is a short walk from here. Fortunately, the concierge was able to call on a Sunday night and convince them to provide us with a very last minute table request. Not many places open on Sunday for dinner evidently in Montreal. Place was buzzing and we were quickly seated. Service was attentive despite the large party next to us. Samosas, chicken curry, salmon tandoor were all very good. Pleased that there was a coat rack near the bar as the dining room is tight. (noise levels are moderate though.) There is a review of the restaurant near the entrance touting one of their shrimp dishes so I will try that next time!

The staff is super tentative and observant assure your water will be filled and you catered during your meal. The food comes shortly after.. the meals are great portions based on your tolerance of spice you have it made for you. The scenery is ambiance for quiet meals for dates or a medium sized group. Space isn't too large.. drinks were good.. would consider after visit when in the area.

I ordered via Uber eats to a hotel nearby. I got chicken biryani (hot). If you like spicy I would opt for the next level or spiciest option because I didn't taste any heat with (hot). The portion was decent and flavor was ok. For a relatively cheap, quick & easy meal it was ok.

Feast. From the menu, includes one salad or soup, one appetizer, one meat dish, one vegetarian dish, dessert, then coffee or tea

Le Taj is without a doubt the best Indian food we have ever had. This did require some considerable travel as Le Taj is located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada but I have to say it was definitely worth it. It is Montreal's oldest Indian restaurant, here for 40 years, and it shows. We arrived late on October 9th after battling some impressive traffic. We found Le Taj walking around near our hotel. The ambiance on Oct 9th around 10pm, on Canadian Thanksgiving no less, was classy and full of people. We were nonetheless seated right away. Onto the good stuff, the food stuff...for myself I ordered "The Feast", for $60 CAD, you receive: One appetizer, one soup or salad, naan bread, one meat dish, one vegetarian dish, basmati rice, one dessert, and coffee or tea. My wife ordered the chicken Tikka Masala. Soup was an austere lentil soup that was soft with an unexpected spice. Next up was the Samosa Chaat with a trio of sauces. It was a crunchy, flavorful delicacy made of chickpeas and many great spices. For meat dish I had the Tandoori Chicken which was a hearty, delicious and tender portion. Vegetarian dish was an extremely flavorful chickpea dish with some mango and spice. The naan bread was amazing, great for soaking up the remaining sauces. Dessert was a homemade ice cream, no added sugar, very pure, with the taste of freshly ground pistachio. The perfect end to this feast was a mint tea. This culinary experience and tour of India was worth every penny.

My husband and I visited Le Taj for the first time last week. Indian food is my very favourite cuisine, so I was really looking forward to this dinner. We were seated right away and given menus. The restaurant was quite full, but we were lucky to be seated despite the fact that we didn't have a reservation. We ordered garlic naan, lamb korma, saag paneer and plain rice. The food came quite quickly and everything was piping hot. We loved all of the flavours and the naan was to die for. We would have liked a little more heat in the food, but that's on us for ordering non-spicy dishes lol. We would definitely go back!

Bindi Masala & Fresh Naan-- SOO GOOD!

Food was amazing. Only concern that I had was with the quantity. It wasn't justified the price.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

Montreal's most magical dining experience!…read more If you're looking for a reason to book a trip to Montreal, let me give you one: Tula. My husband and I visited during a recent trip to the city, and without question, it was the best meal we had -- and honestly, one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. From the moment you walk through the door, the space wraps you in warmth. The atmosphere is inviting, the decor puts you instantly at ease, and the staff greet you with the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare. But it's Abhi and Renata (apologies if I've misspelled either name!) who truly make this place something extraordinary. These two are the heart and soul of Tula, and their passion for what they do radiates through every single aspect of the experience. We spent a few wonderful hours there, and I mean that -- the time just melted away. Renata sang for the entire restaurant, and her voice was absolutely stunning, a spontaneous and beautiful gift to everyone in the room. Abhi, in the most generous gesture, sat down and hand-wrote a list of vegan restaurant recommendations from around the globe for us to take home. These are people who love what they do and love the people they do it for. And then there's the food. Oh, the food. We started with an Indian taco special that set the tone perfectly, then moved on to the Tofu Achari Masala curry with chapati and the Dal Sambar with steamed rice -- both absolutely spectacular. We finished with a special pistachio cake dessert that was the perfect, dreamy ending to the meal. Every single dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and intention, because it was. This is vegan Indian cuisine at its very finest. I left Tula feeling something I didn't quite expect: greater faith in humanity. That might sound dramatic, but if you go -- and you absolutely must go, as soon as possible -- I think you'll understand exactly what I mean. Don't wait. Just go.
