Crofton and Sandy were so nice. Great place Great service. Great people. We came for breakfast dinner sounds good. They have all you can eat fish as well.

a long table and chairs

Very cute cafe, the owners are so so sweet and personable. The food is a good price for the portion you get and the owner says there is vegetarian options too:) The food came out very quickly and was delicious, veggie omelet was amazing and so was the rye bread and potatoes! We will definitely be coming back!:)

Papadum is made from red lentil flour and is gluten free too. Great flavor!

Parking in the nearby free…read moregarage was perfect timing since many workers and patients of the nearby UF medical center had already left for the day. Only one other couple was dining in, and there were a lot of take out orders being picked up. The place was well-lit, clean, and had ample space. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. Scout was our waitress and Deepak was the host. Menu has all the Indian cuisine staples that we expected - we ordered 3 orders of garlic naan, fried rice with veggies and egg, chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi (potato & cauliflower side dish ) - all with medium spiciness - with mango lassi and masala Chai tea for drinks. While waiting for our orders, we washed our hands and the single-occupancy restrooms were clean and stocked. The only downside to the facilities in general are the slightly hard chairs / benches as these were possibly made with the intention of not spending too much time in the restaurant or for people with more natural padding in that area . The naan arrived about 10 minutes later, followed by the rest of the food. The naan was excellent - just the way we like it (not too soft, not too crunchy, with enough garlic oil for taste). The basmati rice was cooked just right in the individual bowls and also in the generous portion of the fried rice. It was my first time trying the aloo gobi, and I loved it! I never knew about this dish, and my husband said it was a must try. I also tasted his chicken tikka masala, and it was also made deliciously. The drinks were also great - mango lassi was fresh and not too sweet. Masala Chai tea was exactly how I imagined it would be. Overall, we spent around 1 hour and about $100 on our date here, including generous tip. We are glad to be repeat customers to try more dishes, and of course, enjoy more garlic naan .

It is definitely still 5 stars, with delicious food as well as incredible service! My waiter was very helpful with giving me suggestions, answering questions, and even brought me a mango lassi on the house (which was incredibly tasty). The ambiance is also nice, with tons of seating and a nice calm atmosphere. This is definitely my favorite Indian spot in Gainesville and I hope to come back next time I'm in town.

The atmosphere is beautiful and I always feel like I have walked into a different kind dining experience. It's relaxing and a lot nicer than many of the local restaurants around here. I feel that it has a quiet nuanced feel that is simply elegant. I ordered the Create your own course because I wanted more. I was in time for the lunch special that they serve Tuesday-Thursday from 11-3 but that wasn't what I was looking for. When coming here I just wanted to enjoy my idea of the meal I can create. The create your own course is just that and for $40.99 you receive an "appetizer, entree, dessert served with two sides, naan or tandoori roti and sauce. If you would like an additional entree and two sides it's only an additional $16.99. Extremely reasonable for the amount of food you receive and how well the food is prepared and the service you get here. My favorite is the Chicken Vindaloo which is Chicken, chili, tomato and it has a little coconut in it. It's a spicy dish but a little tangy too. I love that the heat is flavorful and not overpowering that you cannot taste all the spices in the dish. The tandoori roti I enjoy thoroughly it pairs very well with this dish, I've had the Peshawari naan which is filled with cherries, coconut flakes, cashews and raisins and this is so different and delicious more of a dessert you must try too. I also had the chick pea salad and this is a mix of chick peas, lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes and cilantro. Nothing out of this world but refreshing. Last time I was here I had the Samosa Chaat for a starter it was so good! It's a potato turnover with chickpeas layered with chopped onions, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney, and so flavorful! The Dal soup is also very nice it's a smooth mild soup made with yellow split pea lentils, some ginger and just the right amount of garlic. So many choices here and I'll keep coming back so I can be sure to try everything in the menu at least a few times! I have had dessert and I really enjoyed this as well wanting to try something different than I can get in most restaurants so I tried the Gulab Jamun that is a deep fried dumpling soaked in a sweet syrup that is infused with rose water and coconut. I don't know what to expect but I absolutely loved this and it wasn't as sweet as I thought it might be it was very pleasant and a mild flavor but truly delicious! Other than the food , the service is always really nice here, it's just a very nice experience coming to Amrit you feel lot's of peace and tranquility while dining. Highly recommend visiting Amrit you will not be disappointed! Following a visit to the labyrinthian VA facility in Gainesville, my wife and I were considering…read morelunch options. In looking at Yelp, we were drawn to the Indian Street Food place. Located along a building with another Indian restaurant and market and even a Vietnamese restaurant, this place has plenty of parking and quite spacious inside. We love Indian food and are always open to trying out new restaurants. We have not been to India (on the list of countries we plan on visiting) so not familiar with the street food on their menu so we opted for the more familiar options. My wife ordered the Butter Chicken combo ($20.99) and I tried one of the chef's specials, Bhatti Ka Murg combo. The combo came with basmati rice, butter naan and a desert called Gulab Jamun. My wife's combo also came with a samosa. The butter chicken was good...that sauce, which turned out to be the same sauce for the bhatti ka murg, was full of flavor. The naan was OK...nothing special and we've had much better naan. The rice serving was a bit chintzy. The desert was OK. My dish had decent flavor but definitely better dipped in that sauce. Having to content with bones from chicken thigh meat and drum stick meant I had to work for it but not too bad. While our meals had good flavors, we thought flavors and portions we had at Amrit Palace in Ocala were just as good if not better with more generous portions. We would often have leftover food to take home after a meal at Amrit. Lunch for 2 with tip was just under $54.

Indian Street Food - Gainesville, FL…read more 3550 SW 34th St, Gainesville, FL If you're craving bold, authentic South Indian flavors in Gainesville, Indian Street Food is a must-visit. We stopped by recently and were blown away by how flavorful everything was--from the first bite to the last. What We Ordered: *Andhra Masala Dosa This dosa was perfection--thin, crisp edges with a hearty, spicy potato filling that hit all the right notes. The accompanying sambar and chutneys were fresh and full of depth. Truly reminded me of the kind you'd get back home or from a proper street stall in India. *Vada Golden, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside--these savory lentil fritters were served piping hot and paired beautifully with the coconut chutney. Comfort food at its finest. *Cut Mirchi A spicy, crunchy treat that packed a punch. These fried green chilies are not for the faint-hearted, but if you love heat and texture, you'll absolutely enjoy this one. Service & Vibe: The service was friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly, and the staff were helpful in explaining the dishes. The space is simple and unpretentious--exactly what you'd expect from a spot focused on delivering street-style flavor. Final Thoughts: Indian Street Food delivers exactly what the name promises. Each dish felt like a love letter to traditional South Indian snacks--bold, spicy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. If you're in Gainesville and looking for a taste of real Indian street food, this place should be high on your list.

We were out at Shands for an appointment and found this restaurant on Yelp. It's not a fancy restaurant, more like a casual/comfort spot. The staff was super friendly and service was fast. We ordered Vegetable Samosas as an appetizer and they were huge and crispy with a nice amount of spice. The chutney that came with it was delicious. My husband had Butter Chicken and I had Chicken Tikka Masala. They're both similar dishes, except the Butter Chicken has cream in it and the Tikka is generally a bit spicy (theirs is mild). We ordered the Lunch portion and it was plenty of food. It comes with 1 side - either basmati rice or fresh Naan. I had the rice and he had the Naan. If you want to mix your dish and sauce with the rice - that's' a good way to go. My husband opted for using the bread to sweep up every last bit of sauce in his and loved it. If you order a dinner portion, you get 2 sides. I believe you can get a salad also, but that may only be with dinner (not sure). They also have a lunch buffet. We came around 4pm. They also have various non-alcoholic drinks. Food comes out in little metal pans (really kept it hot) and they give you plastic dishes for serving. The appetizers and bread came in little cardboard baskets (like you get at some places for fries). We were both full when we left. Next time I'm in Gainesville, I'll definitely be back. I want to try some of their other items also.

I recently visited Ammrit Indian Cuisine and had an overall positive experience. It's easy to see…read morewhy it's popular in the area. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Indian dishes, and I really appreciate that they allow you to customize the spice level to your preference. That makes it accessible whether you're new to Indian food or someone who enjoys a little heat. The daily lunch buffet is also a big plus, especially if you want to sample different dishes in one visit. The food itself is good and well-prepared, with solid flavors and generous portions. That said, it does feel like the kitchen leans toward catering to the general market. The spice profiles are toned down, and while that makes the dishes approachable, it slightly softens the authenticity you might expect from a more traditional Indian restaurant. One subtle indicator of that broader appeal is the wine list -- something you don't often see emphasized in more classic, traditional Indian establishments. That being said, Ammrit strikes a reasonable balance. It offers familiar, comfortable Indian cuisine that works well for a wide audience while still delivering recognizable flavors and quality ingredients. If you're looking for dependable Indian food in South Daytona with flexible spice options and a welcoming atmosphere, it's definitely worth a visit.
