Update: 12/5/23 - I'm updating this as the owner did reach out to us and refunded the cost of the initial clean. While I don't believe we will be using them moving forward I respect that they stand behind their work. Our former housekeeper moved so we recently had Purple Fig come in for an initial cleaning with the hopes of setting up a twice a month or bi-weekly service. We were quoted ~$280 per visit which was higher than our old housekeeper but seemed reasonable enough given they bring multiple people. They claimed the first clean was to bring things up to the "Purple Fig Standard" but when I got home after the cleaning I genuinely had trouble understanding what they did while in my home other than leave a candy cane on our kitchen counter. They don't do any laundry (even bed sheets/towels, not looking for a wash and fold service here) which is frustrating but I can somewhat understand given the time a laundry cycle takes. The most egregious offense was that they apparently also dont do any dishes . Again, i'm not asking for a post-Thanksgiving dinner cleanup here but we had a few pans and plates from last nights dinner in the sink and they didn't touch them. Overall, my wife and I struggled to understand what they really did to clean our home. When we decided not to continue with the bi-weekly service they then retroactively charged us $470 for the initial clean. For the price they charge not doing laundry or even tidying up the kitchen when there are a few dishes in the sink doesn't feel worth it. The best part of a cleaning service is coming home to a clean house that you can see and feel as soon as you walk through the door. I loved that I received an alert when the team was on the way and their approximate arrival time - so helpful! I'm updating my review since Amanda, the owner of Purple Fig is suddenly unwilling to publicly respond to a review, which I believe speaks volumes. I did however receive a private message from her (see photo). She felt the need to reiterate that I was not charged, as if I'm unaware of that from our emails and my review was some ploy to get out of paying. I am posting this experience publicly because I feel a duty as a consumer to warn others about what I went through so that they are not put in the same unfortunate position. As I said below, once I made it clear I was unsatisfied with the service the "customer satisfaction guarantee" was never mentioned by anyone at the company. I was so excited to find an eco friendly cleaning company in Austin and I will say the cleanings are always done somewhat well. My issue is with their cancellation policy/postponing policy. My family came down with what we now know is covid. I texted them to ask to skip the cleaning yesterday, no response... then I called and they told me that they will have to charge me the full $300+ if I skip so I went through with the cleaning. We decided to adjust the cleaning to just the kitchen/main area and guest bath, so we could all rest in our rooms and I expected the cost to reflect that. I get an email from their 'Director of Customer Service' explaining their policy which that part is what it is but to add a cherry on top they tell me that they will not be adjusting the cost of the service which I find completely unacceptable. Normally they are here for a few hours but they were not here that long so the cost should not reflect a full cleaning. I am honestly shocked by the way that the 'Director of Customer Service' spoke to a client, and it is in fact not very honest to take money for a full service when the client specifically asked to not even have it in the first place. I would also like to add that they are comfortable with putting their employees in situations that could negatively impact their health because they have the ability to 'mask up', we all know that's not everything when it comes to combating covid. I have since put a hold on the payment until I receive the proper response form the company. Oh also hope they pay for their employees covid tests. read more

I like so much about their business model. The cleaners are wonderful, too. But TAKE NOTE that this business is going for a particular clientele. We were loyal customers since 2016, but recently they "broke up" with us because we only needed cleans once a month. As empty nesters who travel a lot, we couldn't justify doing more. This company is fantastic! I was in need of a deep clean of my 2-1 condo and looking to set up a regular monthly cleaning going forward. What I love about PF is they doing use crazy chemicals and are very pet friendly. I have an older cat who is friendly but like most cats, freaks out around vacuum cleaners and such. All of my fears were laid to rest upon talking to a super friendly staff member (Lauren). Scheduling was easy via their website and I also had some very specific requests. For instance, I have some pretty bad ass custom made wooden counter tops that I've really particular about. I asked them not to touch those and to focus on other parts of the house. So, the Deep Eddy clean resulted in a spotless house and I look forward to having them back once a month. My cat was not freaked out when I came home and nothing seemed out of place or anything. Updating my review to communicate that our price for the same cleaning was recently raised by almost 30%. I wholeheartedly understand the need for businesses to progressively raise prices to keep up with the cost of living in Austin. However, I've never before experienced such a dramatic one-time fee increase from a service provider. A gradual increase over the years would've been preferable and easier to stomach (especially during a pandemic). I think the Fig has probably outgrown smaller houses like ours and it's just not that profitable for them to clean our home. It's been two full business days, and I've not heard from anyone at Purple Fig. This isn't consistent with their claim to be "amazing", and somehow - in a week where we all gained an hour because of the seasonal time change - Purple Fig has turned a standard eight hour business day in to an indefinite black hole. They tried to slip out without finishing and then couldn't accomplish the simple services they had offered when the failures were pointed out. I was worried about a quote and they sent someone out to our place to give a very specific quote, which was really nice. They respond promptly and are very good at finding solutions. We finally decided to start up a cleaning service after moving to Texas 1 year ago. Our poor house never got the scrubbing it needed prior to our stuff moving in. We also did a massive remodel in our tiny master bath which also never got a scrub after the project completion. Needless to say the Purple Fig group had some work cut out for them. My husband met the team in and described them as professional, honest, efficient. They probably finished our house in 2 hours - about 1500 square feet. I was so happy when I got home - everything was clean and sparkly. They even cleaned up our little Ikea vent hood! The masterbath definitely needed some extra love and the ladies did an excellent job. We also really appreciated the small note they left for us. We we like their ecofriendly approach. The products used smelled lovely. And the coordinator, Lauren, was such a joy to work with. Wonderful communication and made every effort to work with our schedule even after I called a little late to confirm the time of the appointment. I have never had my house or rooms cleaned however with the yelp deal and bit of exhaustion I decided to give it a go. Let me just say unless you get a groupon or yelp deal this is not worth what they charge on a regular basis. (Although I hope the high rate is due to the quality of how they pay their employees etc. like the website states) I was hoping at a rate of 45 per person/per hour that would mean a pretty awesome cleaning. Not really. No complaint about the cleaner he was nice and seemed to be working hard but he's came from another job 30 min later and I think it took a semi rushed toll on my cleaning considering I needed the cleaning to be done when I had scheduled it. bottom line, was fine for what I paid for including the deal but was certainly not impressed. ----UPDATE---- Two star improvement based on the backing of company's satisfaction guarantee and owners dedication to communication and customer service. I have never hired someone to help clean up the mess I made myself. Amanda was good about returning my phone call of interest, even though she didn't call after I first filled out online requesting more info. So we came up with a date and time for Purple Fig to come clean. When that time came, they never showed up. When my call was returned that afternoon she apologized and said her cleaner got sick on the drive over, but my problem is that NO ONE called me. So, my husband and I cleaned up our mess, ourselves. We are on a monthly service with Purple Fig and could not be any happier with their service! Our house always feels extremely clean and I'm so impressed with how efficient the crew members are. We have an infant and two cats, so our house is always in shambles until Purple Fig comes in and somehow cleans our entire 3 BR home in 90 minutes... like HOW??? I love walking barefoot in our home after a cleaning and I love that they use all natural, nontoxic products. Just note - there is a slight vinegary smell after the clean, but it dissipates after about 20 minutes. Also, they are a bit more expensive than other cleaning services, but you are paying for nontoxic cleaning products and the fact that they take great care of their staff. The thing is, dust is mostly skin cells. (Fun elementary school trivia, right?) Well, we deal with a LOT of skin cells when we're doing 100+ massages a week. So dust has always been an issue. At the top of my list for what I want in a cleaning service? VERY GOOD DUSTING! I must say, my expectations were met. We used to have to dust daily in addition to our weekly cleaning but now we're mostly just spot dusting every other day or so. The real selling point though? Every month I change out our air filters. They're usually gross and icky and...dusty. But for the past 2 months they've come out looking almost completely brand new! I'm sold. Her team showed up on-time, walked thru the house with me explaining how they would clean. The demonstrated that they clearly knew how to clean "fine surfaces." After the first cleaning, the team even pointed out some issues they noticed---like a leaky pedestal sink (that I had never seen)!
