We were trying to find a cleaning service to clean our condo and found Maids By Melissa via Yelp. I had a few questions about the cleanings (in addition to 'normal' cleaning, we were interested to know if we could pay extra to have them do one-time things like e.g. fridge cleanings). I tried to contact them via their website, but received no reply. Since this seemed like it could be a technical issue (the website seemed a little buggy), I tried requesting an estimate, but didn't get a reply when I did that either. It is entirely possible if you *do* manage to get a response from them, they do a good job (but if you are reading a Yelp review, you probably aren't an existing client). However, my experience is most businesses become *less* not *more* responsive once you're a customer, so not being able to get a response is kind of a dealbreaker. read more

Not sure how to review this But here goes: I reached out to this business and they responded right away!!!!! Their response below was less than professional: "Hello That zip code is out of our normal service area. We would not be able to send a crew that far. I'm not sure who cleans in that area. Kenya" It felt very dismissive vs something like: "We are sorry but that is beyond the scope of our travel, but thank you so much for considering Maids By Melissa" for your cleaning needs. Then closing with a cold: "I'm not sure who cleans in that area." It left me with "You are of little use to this company UNLESS we can make $$$ off of you, and just in case you decide to contact us AGAIN to ask us for a referral to someone who does, let me beat you to the bush by telling you "am not sure who cleans in that area" Just an FYI we have an other home in your scope of travel, but now would probably not consider the use of your company..... read more

First off, let me say WOW. I will try to keep this short and sweet. We bought a house after having lived in an apartment for three years, with no professional cleaning down during that time, just the normal daily/monthly duties you should do to keep a liveable space. So I was a little apprehensive/overwhelmed about doing the deep/move out clean myself. I contacted Maids By Melissa and Kenya (the lady with whom I was corresponding) was very quick to respond to any and all questions via email. I was able to make an appointment the following day from the initial estimate request. Although I was unable to be there for the actually cleaning, I left a key for the crew and went the next day to verify the services. That's where the WOW comes in. By NO MEANS was our house a wreck, but I was weary about certain things getting done (the fridge, the oven, deep scrub of the tub). NOPE. ALL OF IT was sparkling! I was in absolute awe with the outcome. And price? Very affordable. Kenya informed me that it took longer than expected, but only charged me for the quoted estimate, which was very nice of her. We've been using maids by Melissa for a few years now and it's been fine, never great, the ladies are slow and do the bare minimum. The problem just recently is that they charged us an additional $265 for spending 2.5 hours longer than the usual 2hours at our house. One of the ladies looked somewhere around 7 months pregnant, so they're not exactly moving fast. Our usual bill changing from $190 to $190 plus $265 is a freaking joke. I had understood they were working within the original job spec so I tipped them $100 for the extra time, wasn't expecting an extra $265 bill. read more

They are very professional. The first visit included a consultation involving my needs and preferences on how I want things done and even what cleaning products I like. I called MBM, and got a quote for $216.00 (+tax), we did the "Move Out" service. We discussed times, dates and the list of the services provided a few times, because it seemed like such a great deal, I had gotten 2 other bids and they were the most economical. After everything was said and done, the bill was $50.00 more then quoted. I called and spoke with the young lady who proceeded to tell me she had just "not added it properly in her head". After a few back-in-forth emails I was soooo pissed...who does business like that? New to the Austin area and we were looking for a housekeeper to do a recurring service for our house. Having just left CA with a housekeeper that we loved for about 4 years...it is important that we have a familiar face in the house. Kenya was very responsive to my email and questions and came with the cleaning crew for the first visit and walked through the house. I was able to tell the crew anything that I needed attending to about 30 mins before they were finished. They did a great job on the floors- which after a move in can get really dirty... the cleaned lighting fixtures and were efficient. I found Maids by Melissa through a Living Social voucher (because I never learn) but I'm happy to say that they rock! I got through by phone and made an appointment for the following week for a 2-hour cleaning. The two cleaners showed up on time along with a supervisor who made a list of things I wanted them to focus on. The supervisor left and I took the dog on the back porch to get out of their way and work on my laptop. It took exactly two hours and they even cleaned things I didn't ask for (ceiling fans, baseboards, upstairs AC intake, behind nightstands, etc.). I have tile floors downstairs that are hard to clean, but they did it! Superb job! They asked me to check to ensure I thought they did a good job and while I checked, they swept and hosed down my front porch! We went by all the good reviews and tried this company for the first time. After they were done with the upstairs and I did a cursory check I noticed that all the floor area under any and all furniture had not been touched and there was a layer of dust on all those surfaces. I ended up telling the supervisor who dropped by during the cleaning and she ended up micromanaging the cleaning to make sure the maids redid all those missed areas and then watched as they cleaned the rest of the home. Ultimately the cleaning done was thorough but I had to crawl around everywhere spotting all the missed areas for them to do so. This should have been done well to begin with. They also ended up leaving all the trash bags in the hallway even though we had explained where the trash cans were. Not going to be hiring or recommending this company. read more

Just had our first cleaning, feels like a whole new house. Not only do I typically not have time for cleaning except on the weekends, I also hate cleaning!
