The staff is friendly and offered up recommendations that were spot on. The restaurant is spacious, clean and well arranged. I won't even deduct points for Charges decor :). The price point was just as good as the fast food place down the street, and the food was exponentially better. We got the fish taco special, and it was for sure. Fresh and tasty. The carnitas also fresh, great seasoning and plentiful. If you're hitting the Bass Pro, or Wonders of Wildlife, make the Purple Burrito a stop on your trip too. It's not fancy but the food is really tasty. I usually get tacos or cheese enchiladas.

This restaurant came highly recommended and I was dreaming of a burrito so we went less than 24 hours after being told about it. We ordered the Big Chief Burrito with carnitas and a chicken quesadilla. The big chief was lacking flavor and would benefit from some spice...the green salsa was good and helped combat the dryness. The chicken quesadilla was just as bland and also required a ton of sauce (it comes with sour cream and guacamole to dip which did help). I wanted to come back another time to give it a second chance but my stomach was in knots within an hour of eating it. I'll continue by burrito search elsewhere. read more

I ordered the XL fries with carne asada and i found a long strand of hair in the fries which i thought was my hair at first until i kept pulling it and it was embedded into my fries. I was going to let that slide but i bit into my burrito (Big chief w/ chicken) and there was a small stick in it. What a nice find in Springfield. A Mexican fast food in the style of a Southern California Taqueria. The place has a nice vibe and very clean. Nice spot for a good casual lunch. This is a quiet place. The food is good. There is parking right up front. The only negative point I have is after ordering 2 burritos and a combination plate we had no hot sauce. I walked up to the counter and requested 4 green and 2 red sauce. She proceeded to the register and billed me $1.50 for the sauce. I ask if they had complimentary sauce and indicated no sauce is free!! I will not be a repeat customer and go somewhere else that has complimentary sauce. I went to Springfield, MO during vacation and really enjoyed this fresh, clean, friendly and tasty location. I sampled a few of their dishes, of course had to try a burrito and tacos! I had the california burrito and fish tacos, both dishes were generous and flavorful. The burrito was a nice size and I took half of it with me. I also enjoyed the fish tacos, fresh and flaky full of yummy veggie and accompanying sauce. They will customize any order to your liking which is nice as well so have it your way. I read a lot of reviews about this place so I decided to give it a try and wasn't disappointed. I had the carne asada fries without beans along with two fish tacos and I even got a strawberry churro. Everything was hot and tasty! The quality of their beef is pretty good and I like the fish they use. The service was warm as well as fast. The atmosphere was clean and quiet but I did observe that the floors needed to swept under and around multiple tables in some areas. Over all I would visit again when craving Mexicali food and I would recommend to friends. The portions were huge. I ended up still having a whole lot of food left over for later! This has been my family's favorite place to eat in Springfield since they opened the doors. As a California native, I had given up all hope for good Mexican food in Springfield until I found Purple Burrito. The chimichangas are huge and delicious, all the tacos are amazing (fish tacos are our favorite ), the taquitos with guacamole are superb. The service is great and we're always greeted with a smile.
