Sent them an email message one evening regarding some work I wanted to get done, got a call back after 8 the next evening but I missed it because I didn't have my cell with me because it was well after most peoples' working hours. So I then returned their call the next day and the guy who helped me on the phone asked me a few questions and said Scott would get back to me. After describing my problem, he couldn't even answer me when I asked if my problem is something their company could help me with, he just kept saying Scott would have to get back to me. Why have a guy answer the phone who doesn't even know what kind of jobs his company does? It's been about a week and I still haven't heard anything. I first contacted this company because of the glowing reviews on yelp but maybe they don't want my business, which is a relatively small job and won't bring them as much money as "bigger" jobs. read more

Our refrigerator sprung a leak unbeknownst to us, and by the time we learned of it, the water had damaged drywall and caused mold. We brought in someone to repair the leak, but we were left with holes in the drywall in two places, and mold remnants on the wood beams and drywall. We contacted Scott for a consultation, and he promptly fit us into his schedule. Scott arrived on time and was very professional. He was thorough in his assessment, but ultimately found that our problem was less significant than we thought and recommended that we leverage a drywall repair company as a cost-effective alternative. Scott provided us with two referrals and did not charge us for the assessment either. It was refreshing to receive an honest opinion and not be up-sold/oversold on services we ultimately do not need. If we do have that need in the future, then I will certainly be contacting Scott and PuroClean for assistance! read more

Called Puroclean to clean a mess from a clogged basement drain. Not huge, just a mess and i didn't want to do it. They quoted $1000 for a job that would take no more than 2 hours MAX. I know the real world, they stick it to the insurance companies and they know we are at their mercy. I'm a doctor and i don't make $500 an hour. read more

Worked with Scott (Owner) and couldn't be happier. Wish he would provide other services, since honest guys don't really exist in the industry much anymore. read more

I had the misfortune of yet another (different) water damage situation about 6 months later. I called these guys again to ask about things I should be doing to deal with the flooding on my own, and yet again - "advice is free" - he walked me through a few tips. Upstanding guys. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is that I haven't actually had to hire them yet! read more

Still no call back. I'm amazed that all the other reviewers seem to be on a first name basis with the tech and the service people - I barely know my own kid's names. Makes ya wonder, no? read more

Very honest assessment. Even at the expense of getting immediate business. Would absolutely recommend.

Called for an estimate to be done for a flooded basement/mold remediation and they scheduled to show up a couple days later which was no problem at all. Owner Scott came to do the estimate and was very through with his estimate. This was Thursday and was told I would have an estimate sent out to me by Friday or for sure Monday. It is now Wednesday almost a week and still haven't heard from them. I will definitely not be using them, I chose them because of their great reviews and now I'm thinking otherwise. Bad customer service communication, no calls or emails! read more

About 2 years ago our home in Bucktown was flooded with Cat. 3 sewage water, otherwise known as blackwater, because the City's sewer/storm drains flooded and overflowed during a big storm. We had no idea how extensive and dangerous the damage was. On top of that our focus was not on our basement as we had a sick child in the hospital and two kids at home struggling with having a sick sibling. We ended up flagging Scott (the owner) down on the street late in the evening. It was easy to see he was exhausted and he told us he had been taking calls for 14 hours at that point but he came in anyway. Truly he was the help we needed. Without him, we would have been completely lost. He directed us with our insurance company, wrote down resources and information. We didn't pay him anything for his time and he knew we wouldn't be as soon as we told him our insurer. He stayed because he cared more about helping people in need. Its been more than two years since that night and I have never forgotten the kindness Scott extended to us. Because of PuroClean's direction, we saved tens of thousands of dollars and the health of our family. If you need reliable, professional help this is the company for you. read more

They came to inspect my place and said they will provide a quote after 3 days. I called them when I got no response from them and the guy tells him he cannot provide me the estimate of long it will take him to provide the quote. Its been more than a week and I don't have a quote. Just imagine how long will it take them to resolve the issue. Don't call them if you want to get something done quick. Very bad experience! read more

I had a question about a minor leak and sent a request through Yelp. I heard back from Scott within a short amount of time and he asked me to send a few pictures. I sent the pictures after 8pm and received a response in 20min. Scott gave me a straight forward answer and stated there would be no need for him to come out. He gave me free advice. If PuroClean handles the job the same way they appear to handle customer service, it will likely be a job well done. read more

I called last week and spoke with Allen at length about our recent flood and my concerns regarding mold. He asked a ton of questions about the home layout, flood, possible signs for mold, etc. Ultimately he told me that he didn't think we needed to have someone come out but would be happy to if I wanted. Allen was SO helpful and thorough- I couldn't believe how much advice he provided. God forbid we have another flood or mold concern, but if so we've definitely found our guy! Thanks again! read more

Scott is awesome! We had a couple of individuals quote us thousands of dollars for ripping into walls to remove minimal amounts of old mold. Scott came in, explained everything to us and put us at ease. He did everything he said he would do and then some. He was very patient and understanding when our schedules got in the way of our appointments and did everything he could to accommodate us. I would highly recommend this no nonsense very knowledgeable individual to anyone in our situation. I cannot express how grateful we are that this was done quickly and within our budget. Thanks Scott! read more

Scott and his crew from PuroClean helped make a bad situation good again. Our basement flooded with water and sewage on April 18, 2013. After a near-scamming from the crooks at ServPro, I called Scott for help. Not only did he return my call immediately, he sent a crew out the next day. The crew of David, Paris, and Mike were phenomenal - they did a quick job of cleaning and left everything spotless. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome after having a sewage-coated basement. Thank you Scott, David, Paris, and Mike - you've got a loyal customer (although I hope to never have to call you again!). read more

Hello Scott, my name is Lorie R*** Mike T*** , my partner and friend, hired you to remediate the mold in our building at1*** W. 19th Street Chicago. I'm writing to inform you of an incident that happened while your men were working in our place. On the last day of their work, they entered through the back of the building without letting anyone know they were there until I heard their voices in the back stairwell. I was coming down the back stairwell, when they did NOT introduce themselves and then proceeded to STARE at me up and down making me feel completely uncomfortable and unsafe. Your men then let themselves into our first floor unit to check the work and take the drying equipment (which seemed to stop working after making horrible loud noises and disrupting our entire household). We moved it ourselves to be out of the way. I stepped out of their way to continue whatever it was they were doing, and when they yelled for Mike (also inappropriate and unappreciated because he was on another floor). I came into the kitchen to see what they were doing and they CONTINUED to STARE at me up and down. I walked away disgusted with them and unhappy with your company. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and writing an appropriate yelp review. I will NOT be recommending your company to any work colleagues, friends or family. After a sewage pipe cracked and left our bathroom ceiling soaked, PuroClean did a great job with mold remediation and sanitation. The owner came for the initial assessment and he was VERY knowledgable. The service people are friendly and thorough. Thanks for a great job and the quick fix! read more

My neighbor above me's washing machine overflowed one night and I called PuroClean to come out and assess the damage. Scott came out the next day and gave it to me straight. He still detected moisture but gave me options on how I could make sure it dried adequately. He offered me the choice of using his company to dry it or using oscillating fans. He did a thorough search of the ceiling and walls, and given his advice and assessment of the few spots with moisture I decided to use my oscillating fans. He didn't try and up sell his company's service, was very courteous, and didn't mind my dog. Definitely will call them if ever the unfortunate event of water leakage were to happen. read more

I called PuroClean late in the evening and talked to Alan about a complicated mold issue. He took my call even though it was late, and he was FANTASTIC on the phone. He really took a lot of time with me to answer all of my questions and to really hear the whole situation. He was very honest, explained many options, and explained how molds work so I could really understand what I am dealing with. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I would highly recommend Alan and PuroClean!!! Thanks again to Alan! I'll be calling you again for sure! read more

It's ironic how I met Scott. He was introduced to a former colleague when I was in banking who now sells insurance and referred Scott alot to his clients (this person has since moved out of state). Scott and I met over coffee and both came from the corporate world and became franchisee's - obviously in different businesses - but there was not only great synergy between our businesses, but I felt very comfortable with Scott immediately. Ironically, literally days within meeting Scott is when we got 7 inches of rain in something like 4 hours and in my 4-flat, one of the duplex down units flooded for the first time ever in nearly 6 years. Total fluke. Had it been a couple of weeks earlier I would have been frantic, but since I had met Scott and trusted him as well, I calmly called him and told him what my issue was. He was out same day, explained everything he did so I understood. He came by daily to take moisture readings and truly was such an amazing professional, I would love to use him again expect I don't want to flood again. LOL. Neither does my insurance company! :P But there are indeed synergies between his business and my portable storage and moving business SMARTBOX which is icing on the cake. Even if I didn't have a synergistic business to go along with Scott's Puroclean franchise, I would still be giving him 5 stars (and my tenant was equally impressed with his response time and results and his caring). I'm sure many other PuroClean franchises do a fine job, but Scott is the only franchisee I'll ever be calling if needed in the fuure and the only one I will refer to my clients. He truly brought his customer service and caring skills with him from his financial planning days to this complete 180 of a business model switch. Very reliable, vert fair, very caring. I truly cannot say enough good things about Scott! read more

This company works with a high degree of integrity! We had a leak in a pipe, and I was concerned that mold had accumulated even though we caught the leak fairly quickly. Scott came out to perform an assessment. He arrived right on time and after surveying the ceiling in question (using his mold-o-meter gadget:) determined that there was no mold and that our ceiling is strictly in need of standard repair. He also educated me in the process which I greatly appreciated. Five stars and then some for PuroClean!! read more

We were part of the terrible floods in the Western Suburbs with Sewage flooding my basement. I was panicked. Allen was so helpful and understanding. He got his guys out the very next day! Mario and David were very thorough and trustworthy. They cleaned my basement, sanitized, threw out ruined items, and left with fans and humidifiers. They came back every couple of days to check on the humidity before pulling down my walls, and floors. They sanitized everything again. Scott, the owner was wonderful about calling me back on my totals and working with my insurance company. I cannot say enough about this company. We would all be happy Chicagoans if more people ran their company like this. HIGHLY RECOMEND! read more

Incredibly nice customer service by Alan, great work thanks to Scott and his Crew. Couldn't ask for more.

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Allen telling him my woes of an overflowed toilet and potential water damage. After asking some good questions, and evaluating the situation, he informed me that the problem is most likely not going to be an issue so spending $75 for his on-site consultation would be a waste. As the other Yelp reviews mention, PuroClean Property Restoration Specialists have integrity, especially important when dealing with something as stressful as potential water damage, or worse .... MOLD. Thank you for your insight and expertise! Though I hope to never have water damage issues in the future, if I do, I will definitely call these guys! read more

Thanks to Scott for coming out to the far flung suburbs to evaluate a moisture and mildew issue in our basement today. He couldn't locate the source of the moisture, but did as thorough an inspection as possible without ripping out our drywall and wall to wall carpet. He gave us suggestions on what to do next. I wouldn't hesitate to use PuroClean for any other issues we may have going forward. Didn't give 5 stars as there was nothing to evaluate regarding work, but I'm confident if they had been able to do something, it would have been done right and I could trust what they say. Keep it up, guys you'll be in business forever with this kind of business ethic. read more
