So, I'm either stuck super pale, or get a sunburn. I had a wedding to go to though and I looked almost sickly I was so pale. My friend David has been a tanaholoic for years and has worked at several tanning salons so I decided to give him a ring and see what he could do for me. I came up here for a spray tan and even though that is so not my thing, it was awesome. They had a special going for 3 for $30, you get to pick what shade of tan you want to be, they can add a scent to it so you don't smell like funky fake tan, and the machine is state of the art! It talks to you and shit! My tan was very even, lasted for about a week and I looked healthy for the wedding. Also note that this place is like OCD clean. They keeps the towels washed, the beds gets wiped down with cleaner (I saw some of the staff doing it as soon as customer came out), and the presentation of the store itself is just immaculate. I hear so many things about tanning salons being dirty and people catching ring worm so it's nice to see that the employees take the initiative to actively clean instead of sitting on their phones texting their friends and screwing around.

The beds: The owner changes the bulbs every 500 hours and you can tell because you feel like the light of God is in this tanning bed with you. I always get color when I tan here, no matter what lotion I use or how long I tan for. The beds are brand new and of very good quality, they're nice and roomy so you don't feel claustrophobic. The beds have fans and radios in them. You can control the volume of the radio and how high or low the fans are which I greatly appreciate. You can also turn the face bulbs off but you have to wait about 2 minutes to turn them back on, which is a feature I really like. You're also not timed to get undressed and put your lotion on. You turn the bed on which is awesome because I've done that dance where you're trying to get your clothes off and get your lotion on and then have the bed turn on and you still have half of your body to lotion up. The rooms each have a mirror, towels garbage can, spray deodorant and baby wipes. A lot of other places don't even have a mirror or a garbage can which really bothers me. The staff: The staff is so nice and very informative. They can answer all of your questions and concerns. I like it because you can tell that the owner has taken the time to train her staff to know about tanning, levels, skin types, lotions, etc. They check your lotions to make sure they're suitable to use (the cheap ones will cause the acrylic to crack) and to see if you have eyewear. Some people may not like this, but I greatly appreciate that they take the steps to remain professional (we've all been to those salons with those girls that are just hanging out) and make sure they are following the rules and regulations of the state and also making sure that their beds are in the best condition and stay that way.They also don't seem bothered that you walked in and have now interrupted whatever important task they're trying to complete. They taught me to use the beds and all of that business which I really appreciated. Also, if there's a lotion that you want and they don't have it, they will order it for you, which I really appreciate. Lotions: They carry all kinds of lotions, and like I said, if they don't have one you want, they will order it for you. The lotions are of average price compared to other salons, but they always have deals or sales going on for either lotions or packages or combined, like buy a lotion get a free session type of thing. They have boosters, bronzers, and after tan lotions. The actual spa: Very clean and organized. I've never waited there, they have appointments and walk-ins. I've seen them clean the beds, they clean the bottom AND the top. They also tidy up the room and whatnot. I highly recommend this place, it's the best in the area. I've been to several tanning salons and have been tanning off and on for over 5 years. I have psoriasis and it's much cheaper than a dermatologist and medication so I'm always trying to find the best lotion and salon. While there I bought and used the $10 primer packet all over, used the hand lotion as instructed, stood in the booth EXACTLY as the associate showed me, cleaned up after as I was instructed, wore loose clothing and did no sweaty activity for 18 hours. Monday morning - By the time I woke up the next day, my tan was crazy dark on my face compared to my body, uneven on my legs and arms, and you can see droplets all over my hands, legs, etc. I fixed with at home with a mitt and Bondi Sands on my arms and legs, and it looked as I'd hoped, except for my hands where it still has spray droplets that can't seem to be evened out. Little to no sweating and staying moisturized. Wednesday afternoon - I have orange patches in some spots, my hands are still spotty, and a square inch patch on my chest has rubbed off. Little to no sweating and staying moisturized still. I've gotten spray tans before and this has never happened elsewhere. I did *everything* I was supposed to do and this tan is crap. The girls always have helpful tips and offer advice. Typically when I'm presented with options (regarding something I don't know much about) I'll say, "What do you recommend?" I'm usually given the answer, "Uhh...well...it's up to you..." That doesn't happen here!!!! These girls ALWAYS give me the pros & cons, and then will offer their opinion. For example, last night I wasn't sure which spray tan to get bc they have two different types of booths (neither of which I've ever used...no mystic here) and she explained to me the difference between the two, which one she prefers, and which one she thinks would work best on my skin color/type. Then she walked me back there and showed me how to stand (she even got in the booth LOL), offered tips to get the best coverage, and explained the whole process. It was awesome. Second, this LA Tan is the most up-to-date that I've been to. They have the newest equipment and the staff is very well trained on all of them. Third, the salon is very clean and well maintained. (I hate going into a closet-sized room with a broken door...) My room last night had lotion, baby wipes, towels, hair net, a large leather chair, full length mirror, floor mat, etc. It was clean and painted a pretty purple color. I came to Ultra Tan in a mad search of finding a reasonable priced place to tan the pasty white skin that has been haunting me more than a ghost clad in a white sheet. Perched in a little lot, it's easily accessible and perfect for making a lunch time pitstop or an out of town jaunt. The first thing to take note of is the cleanliness. As with other tanning salons, it's not uncommon to see dust and have stale air wafting around, but not here. Another thing to take note, the staff. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and get you in and out quickly. Price-wise, I am still shocked by what the monthly dues are. By sticking with the Level 1 conventional beds, a monthly unlimited package is $30. Cheap. Super cheap that will get your body amped and ready to put down for a full on package to really spruce up the sun...er...bulbs. Packages for other levels are equally as cheap and oh so worth it. Take a minute and go through which Level works best for you, guaranteed you will find a package that beats the conventional. I mean, it's about keeping your body bronzed and sexy. If you've forgotten your lotions, there's a plethora of types of all different levels that will amplify the bulbs and get you to that perfect shade. So happy to have made the move over to Ultra Tan which has become my 15 minute ritual to a fantasy Bahamas vacay.
