Still here. I tried another place for a couple weeks trying to determine if I was biased. I'm not. I found myself missing the "spa" quality this place has. Love the semiprivate half walls between the soaking tubs and the quiet atmosphere. Even when it's busy, they don't rush you through. The other place I went to felt like an assembly line. If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. This place is a nice location but their materials literally suck! I got an acrylic full set with no chip polish. The first issue was my nail chipped, when it was supposed no-chip??? I went to get it fixed and they fixed it for free. THEN, the very next day my nail began to crack as if it were about to break and then one nail broke. It has been less than a week and after getting over five nails redone over the span of three days, two more broke while I was on vacation. VERY SUBPAR MATERIALS. BEWARE!!! read more

I've had good experiences here, the price is reasonable and they usually have availability. However, my last visit the filed a hole in the side of my foot. I was getting a pedi for a formal event and ended up in so much pain I could barely walk. A week later it still wasn't that close to healing and I went in and asked for a refund. They suggested giving me part of the price of the pedi back and charging me the full price of the manicure was reasonable. I know its a business but there was no reason to file a hole in my foot (it wasn't near a calloused area or anything--total carelessness) and I was really disappointed in their response, not even an apology. I live walking distance and needed a pedi asap for date night. There was only 1 other customer in the salon, which should've been my indication to leave. The man doing my pedicure was cold and wasn't paying attention but I didn't really care much because it was honestly a quick rush job and not the true spa experience I typically would desire. AND THEN...... he scraped my toe with the big dead skin filer. I bled and bled and bled and bled!! It took forever to stop the bleeding so he poured that painful antiseptic on my toe to stop it. I legit have pedi PTSD now. I won't ever let anyone use that filer on my toes ever again for the fear of being hurt like that again. Also, I couldn't even wear my date night shoes because of the injury and walked very carefully in sandals all night. Lastly, they had the nerve to charge me full price AND told me to come back. This is my first review I have ever written in any type of websites but I felt that I would be doing a disservices to others by not writing about my terrible experience there. I went to do waxing, full arms for $40. The lady who did it "can't remember her name, but she told me that she's the manger" She burnt my arms. She kept saying its either a sun damaged my skin or a dead skin NOT from the wax that's why my arms were so red. It was Itchy, painful twhole night so next day I went to immediate care And the doctor wrote me a prescriptions. Thanks god I have insurance that covered my medicine for five moths. I went to see that lady after two days with my proscription medicine. But after a long conversation, She returned back my $40 without any apologize. I loved my no chip mani and regular pedi but I was a little disappointed about the price for services. Would I return again?---Yes, but the pricing and polish options would be a deterrent. If public transportation or walking to a nearby establishment is important to you, the price may be less of an issue. Reasons to check this place out- The staff members are very attentive and friendly. This salon is clean, organized and conveniently located . It is located on the bus line, the blue line and there's lots of street parking and a lot close by. My Services - There are lots of colors to choose from but I was disappointed upon learning there were no Gelish, Perfect Match or polishes with matching no chip and regular polish colors. If you want a regular pedicure and no chip manicure, you are forced to match different color brands which is not cool in my book. Especially when paying $38 for a no chip and an addition $5 to soak the prior no chip color off. Even for Oak Park, this is on the high end and the offerings fall short.... The pedi chairs are also dated. Tidbits worth noting - If you are planning to check this place out, I recommend you make an appointment and not plan to use your phone. This place is pretty busy despite its prices and it is very tight quarters. Any personal or lengthy conversations would be disruptive to say the least. read more

I'm done. Leaving a pedicure feeling like I've been thru a battle is not worth the price. I'm taking my toes elsewhere... At my last appointment, the male technician who was doing my pedicure went overboard with the the nippers on my cuticles and then near the corners of the toenails. I kept thinking, this guy is going to cut me at this rate. I suggested that he first push back my cuticles then use the nippers. His response, "But I'm using the nippers, so I don't need to push back the cuticles." Huh? A. Every good pedicure I've had my feet were first soaked, then the cuticles pushed back, and THEN nippers were used where necessary. B. You should listen to your customers and take their concerns seriously. This young male (who seemed young and inexperienced) didn't want to listen to my concerns, and he continued with his excessive trimming after I said something. And as I suspected would happen, he managed to cut me and cut me near the tip of my toenail, like where you trim the nail. W-T-F!? How do you do this here, and why are you spending so much time trimming there!? I come every 4 weeks. It's not like my feet are a hot mess.... When I was cut I yelped,"Ouch!" and no reaction from the technician, except to put some mystery blue liquid on the area. Cheap or not, it's not worth NOT being listened to, getting cut and worse yet, possibly getting an infection. Oh, and when I called to book the appointment, the female owner answered and I asked to book with Ivy. She asked, "Which one?" Really, there's more than one Ivy...? So I described her, and I was told that she was not longer there. This is now 'Ivy's' second time working here and she's gone again. The owner told me she would book me with someone better. Really? I was in town visiting friends and needed a place close by and found this gem. It's small and there is street parking as well as the lot next to the building. When I walked in, there were about 2-3 other people. It was busy due to it being Mother's Day weekend. They have a good variety of colors to pick from. I needed a pedi only and I was able to get a seat immediately. Why 4 Stars? Honestly everything was great except for the water not being hot. My person was great and my pedi ended up being awesome, but I was disappointed that the water was only room temp and I didn't soak my feet for that long. They offered me water as soon as I walked in and told me to pick a color and have a seat. This place offers reflexology, but I didn't try it because I was on a time crunch. It seems they are known for their reflexology services (foot massages). I would recommend this. It seems like they have regulars. read more

I've been on a roll with bad luck apparently, and I've just had the worst experience at a nail salon in my entire life. In fact, the worst and most insulting customer service experience that I've ever endured. I paid $18 for nothing, but wasted time and mistreatment. I went in for an eyebrow wax and a no chip manucure. I wanted be there at 6:30 but was told that time would overlap with another customer. Eventually I was told I could come in at the time I wanted. I made it there for 6 anyway and was the last customer there. No "overlap". They were telling other potential customers to try tomorrow and the like. They just wanted to get out of there despite closing at 8. And, instead of wasting my time, and causing me so much upset (when I have to leave at 3am for an international flight), I'd have rathered they told me no, too! First time in my life, I have 2 girls working on my nails at the same time. One was standing during half the process. I didn't mind because I was tired and wanted to be out of there as much as they did. The first hand came out lumpy with thin spots after 3 coats. And "I did 3 coats" was her answer. I said "okay, but it shouldn't look like this." She tells me that it's my skin color showing through the polish. I said then, give me a color that matches my "skin color". This girl spoke perfect American English, so there was no misunderstanding. Later, she tried to explain it to the manager as if I requested a polish change. I told her and the manager twice "no", I was told that the color I chose allowed my skin color to show through. Meanwhile, the hand that was still in the machine at the time turned out not to be nearly as bad as the other. The girl who did the better hand tried to explain the problem as being caused by the shape of my nail beds. However, the hand she did didn't look that way. It was still in the light machine at the time, so one could give any excuse. Yet by the time I noticed the other hand wasn't nearly as bad, I was already told that they could either remove it and I could just pay for a manicure, or I could pay extra for a color change. Why would the customer pay for a color change in that situation? Either the sevice was bad or the polish was bad, this wasn't my fault or decision! I say fine, I'm not paying extra because of something that's not my fault, just do the manicure. Then some psycho woman wearing her coat comes over to "help" with the removal process, roughly scuffing the polish and my hand! She walked off and the other girl who was helping before returned to help, wearing her coat also. They left me with rough, unpolished, unbuffed, nails. No nail soak, no scrub, nothing else was part of the process that I waste my time over. They had to call the manager to come in when I asked if they were going to finish the manicure. After saying she would call the police if I refused to pay (and I told her go ahead), and then trying to haggle with me suggesting I pay the price of the no chip removal.... even though they messed it up, the manager eventually agreed to allow me polish... after much wasted time... for the $16 non-manicure manicure. No, $18 because the brand I picked was more expensive. After she began polishing my rough nails without buffing or even a basecoat... I was done! I told her to take it off, you've been paid, and I left. The worst part of it all was, the girl who did the worst hand CLEARLY saw what the problem was, but they chose to treat the issue as if I was causing problems or changing my mind. She KNEW what was wrong! Later they even tried to claim that the police threat was only for conflict resolution. She threatened to call the cops, and I never so much as raised my voice. I didn't state that I wouldn't pay either. I merely pointed out that the manicure was not complete. That's literally all I did. I went in wanting a full spa manicure and no chip polish plus waxing. Why would I put myself through that sort of trouble? The accusations coupled with the color of my nail bed remark, leave me to believe racial bias was at play. I don't have... dark nail beds, uncoverable by polish, or anything weird that such an idiotic comment should ever come out of anyone's mouth. Eyebrows? Of course not. I'm an Oak Parker. And while this town is far from perfect, it's a place that boasts its diversity. It's not the place for bigotry. read more

Was around the corner and "chair massages" on the window caught my eye! As soon as I walked in I was greet by 3 staffers (yes, Asian- sorry!)- two male, 1 female. Seems to me a family business, and this was a dad, mom and older (20's-ish) son. There were another 3 ladies giving pedicures. In other words, a crowded little joint. From what I could see the pedicure chairs looked modern and 'the good kind', and their nail polish selection was really great-- and all their OPI's looked fresh. (Not like some places that have super old 1/3-full bottles.) My chair massage was on par. What I appreciated was that there is a back room for which they do regular, chair and foot massages. It was quiet and dark- but not very closed off or dark to the point of being creeped out. I appreciated that they didn't give me crap about asking to use a credit card on my $15 10min massage. Next time I'll try a pedicure. Looks like they took appointments, and from the line on the way out I'm judging that it's best to have one. read more

I stopped in for an unscheduled pedicure on Sunday around noon and got the longest, most relaxing pedicure of my life. I've found that nail salon pedicures usually look great, but they're not very relaxing and spa pedicures as super relaxing, but don't always look good. I got the best of both worlds at Well-Come, with a 1 1/2 hour pedicure that included a hot stone massage, hot towels, a sea salt massage (extra $10) and diligent nail care and painting. I was given a cup of herbal tea and the remote for my massage chair when I sat down, and the owner/manager checked on my wellbeing repeatedly to make sure I was comfortable. The spa is clean, plays relaxing music and doesn't have any flat screen TVs showing soap operas (a plus in my book). I'll definitely be back. read more

I visited Well-Come for the first time last week. I didn't have the best experience. I had a no-chip manicure removed, and the manicurist informed me that if I had come there to get it, the polish wouldn't be so hard to remove (it was not hard to remove at all!). The manicurist got up about 10 times during the manicure I got on Sunday. She told me she was eating lunch! In addition, the light they use takes forever! I started to pull my hands out because I'm used to a quick light cure and she said, "No no!" Even with all of that, the no-chip manicure is chipping on almost every finger. I went back once (two days later) since they have a 7-day guarantee. But they were not very nice about it, angrily asking, "Where is the chip?" They fixed it begrudgingly. South Oak Park Ladies - this place is a must. Well-Come Spa is now my go-to spot in Oak Park for a mani/pedi! I have been going here for over a year and neglected to write a review. Opps! Why this place stands out? The parents that own the spa are certified therapists and have trained their children and other staff very well. The best massage for hands and feet you will ever get during a mani/pedi experience. The chairs are comfortable, the space is relaxing and the herbal sweet tea is amazing. My pedicures and manicures last longer because they take the time with each coat they apply. Side note - I bring my 9 year old daughter once and awhile for a color change and they treat her like royalty. The technician even played "spa day" with her while I was drying. Such a nice family. I have been going to this place since it opened, as it's just blocks from my house. I used to go to the salons near Lake Street but haven't been back there since this salon opened. The family that owns and runs the business is very friendly and accommodating. The venue is clean and modern, and well-thought out with privacy walls between some of the pedi chairs and private back rooms for massage, waxing and reflexology. On my last visit, I called 20 minutes before they closed just asking if I could come in for them to remove my 'no-chip' gel manicure (that lasted 3 weeks). Once I was there, the entire team stayed for 30 minutes past their closing time (they carpool together to OP) and offered me a complimentary manicure, probably because I had been going there every regularly for a mani/pedi. I agree with other reviewers that the experience is very relaxing with spa music and no gossiping between the staff. The service is great and they do take their time to ensure you are happy before you leave. An appointment is not required, but they do get busy on weekend afternoons and there can be a wait. Please refer customers to them as well, so they do stay in business for a long time! read more

I've been generally unimpressed with the nail salons in the Oak Park-Forest Park area, but decided to give this one a shot. Despite it being a bit cramped, I was really pleased. As with most of these little nail shops, the quailty of your service depends on who you get that day - so I try to not judge too much on one visit or another. My first visit here, I was very happy with the work the woman did on the pedicure, and felt she could have been a little neater on the manicure. The spa is on the small side (the pedicure was great, I had a friend who was able to sit right next to me, but the manicure station was way too close to the surrounding stations and I felt uncomfortable the whole time), but feels clean and well-kept. I was pleased to see they offer a variety of the new Vinylux polish line ($5 upcharge on a mani-pedi package), as well as newer OPI and Essie colors. Street parking is easy, and there is a public parking lot just around the corner. read more

Ok, I don't know why my experience was so different from everyone else's, but I swear it was. I have to say that the atmosphere was pretty decent and the staff were all very nice. However, they did something that made my hands feel rough and sandpapery for almost a week! I'm not sure if it was one of their products, or the treatment where they put lotion on my hands, wrapped them in cling wrap, and slipped them into heating pad gloves clearly marked that they shouldn't be used without a liner (no liner to be seen). As is the case with many of the lower-cost nail salons, the metal tools used on me appeared to be clean (I think I saw sanitizing machines there, so yay!) but the buffer, filing board, etc., were clearly used on other clients before me. I prefer a place that uses new ones for each customer, as I believe is the law (or at least greatly encouraged) in Illinois. I wanted to like this place, but I won't be back. And lest you think it's just me, my girlfriend that came along had the same exact experience. read more

I've had some great experiences here, but also some less than great ones too. I've always had excellent manicure services from here. The service is quick and polite, and you usually don't have to wait long. The tea here is an interesting kind of good. Give it a try! Also reasonably priced. The negative experience was with the pedicures. I went with my husband for pedicures a few weeks ago and was pretty disappointed. The polish on my nails started to fall off after 2 days. They missed some fairly large areas of dead skin on my heels as well. They really rushed my husbands pedicure, so much that they ripped out the ENTIRE cuticle (ie all the way around) on his big toe of one foot. Ouch! I didn't even know that was possible. He ended up with a painful, infected cuticle while were on our beach vacation. Very disappointing. I noticed that they also cut his nails really irregularly/crooked. This was his first pedicure (and now most likely his last after that experience). Maybe they don't think men's services are as important. read more
