Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki is always calm and gentle, and I feel like I'm saved from the anxiety and…read morestress of visiting the dental office. I visited this office when I heard a rumor that Miyssaki father and son are legendary specialists in implants and dental cosmetics. Originally, my husband Jeff introduced me as a patient of Dr. Miyasaki father and son. The staff was also very kind, and even when I was in the waiting room they asked, "Are you ok, do you need anything?" My hygienist is not full time at Dr. Miyasaki's office , but it's very reassuring for Japanese people that there are also Japanese-speaking dental hygienists. I've had a long relationship with dentists since I lived in Japan, so it seems that I have acquired the skills to judge the good or bad of the doctor's technique immediately on the first visit. So I can say, the treatment by Dr. Miyasaki (the father) was completed safely without any stress or anxiety. Especially after the injection was finished without any pain I asked, "Did you inject it now?" That's when I heard laughs. The explanation of the future treatment plan was also polite, and I decided to believe his words and follow him without feeling any pressure about the estimate. The market price for dental treatment in the United States is expensive, but considering the long-standing experience so far, I felt that the price range of A Downtown Dental Group was set very reasonably. That's why I'm looking forward to the estimate from the office, with a view to upgrading my dental cosmetics.

My sister in law was a patient for Douglas Chang for over 25 yrs and she continued to stay at…read moreDentaworks even after Darren Wong took over. She trusted that his office would continue to give her the care that she received all those years. Well, she did not! She went in for a routine cleaning, they took xrays and Darren Wong did the exam. He told her that she needed a crown on her bottom right molar. She said she had no pain or discomfort or any issues with that tooth. He told her that she needed a crown because there were so many fillings on that tooth and it would crack. First of all if there is no cavity and patient has no problem what harm is there to have just monitored it? She comes in every 6 months. You can always check it every time. She trusted him and scheduled for the crown. They NEVER told her that the crown would not be covered. They NEVER even preauthorized it! Also, had they checked they would have known it would not be covered because there is a 6 month waiting period when you start a new job with the insurance. She comes in and while she is in the chair (for the procedure to start) someone comes in with an iPad and has her sign. She sees the $1700 and questions "is this with insurance?" They said "yes". She comes out to the front after the temporary crown was placed and a different person tells her that it's $1700 because her insurance didn't cover because of the 6 month waiting period! See!!!...she could have waited and then have 50% covered (She was not in any discomfort!). However after the tempoary crown was placed she was in pain for 2 weeks. She never had any pain until Darren decided to make money by putting a crown on a tooth that had no decay and was not bothering her with a reason of "it will crack". My sister in law should have been given the option to wait when it bothered her and for the insurance to cover 50%. They should have told her before scheduling her that her insurance did not cover the procedure. Just like the review from 12 months ago by Kay he just wanted money. I work and have worked with such reputable Dentist including Douglas Chang so I know what a bad one looks like....seriously, he lacks integrity! His website says "Honolulu Dentist for 40+ years??! Dr Kuo is a kind and caring dentist with awesome bedside manner and genuinely cares for her patients. I was VERY LUCKY to find her from a google and yelp search. I actually stumbled across Dr Chen, because Dr Kuo didn't come up in reviews much. My story is my crown broke and fell completely off. It broke perfectly from the base, so I could plug it back, if kind'a held in place, but def I needed help. I had no pain because that tooth had a root canal, but basically I had "gap" where my molar (crown) was. At time I was a little concerned for potential risks or infection or movement of teeth. No one could get me in at all, typically a week out or more. I was a NEW PATIENT, never been, called and she squeezed me for an appointment. That is someone I felt really cares and goes above and beyond. She was sensitive to my concern and really helped me out. After examining my crown and and finding everything intact, she gave a super budget solution, with no guarantees (but better than a new crown as she knew the costs would be expensive) -- she was able to cement my crown back. Please keep in mind I had a root canal so my situation may be different from others. BUT this was awesome, super budget and saved my crown/molar. It's been almost 1.5-2 years since that happened. I've been want to write a review forever, but this I think is a better "share" with the results. I'd highly recommend them.

After we gave up trying to find one ourselves. He has dental coverage through his job. But we know there is a co pay percentage that would come out of our pocket. That depends on our budget. We don't want to be slapped with a bill that would cost us couple thousand of dollars that we cannot afford atm. Before starting the service, we had asked the front desk and all these ladies multiple times that if they could check the co pay for us. Just Incase we cannot make amends. But they kept making excuses that they are checking and kept installing. Until he had to go in and get the service done. That is not right! This is one of the reasons I hardly like to go to any doctors that hardly English speaking places. Most are just money faces. They want to start on the service and then let us know the cost. I do not appreciate that. After this service, we will not be coming back! I'm fine with searching one ourselves.

Both Dr. Cho and Shari do everything possible to ensure my comfort during every visit. They have excellent safety measures in place, as well. Numbing shots are not as painful as with some of my previous dentists, and go to work quickly (in the past they'd take a long time to take effect and other dentists would just start with the drilling anyway!), which makes the visit faster and more efficient. Both Dr. Cho and Shari take a real interest in my overall well-being and who I am as a person. I'm not just a number to them. They schedule their patients in a way that allows them to provide quality, individualized attention without the rush. I enjoy the conversations we have (it's uncanny how they can understand me even while my teeth are being worked on lol!) and their always calm and soothing disposition. Last, but not least, the work Dr. Cho and Shari do is impeccable. They stay on top of their industry and use the latest technology. I recently had to get a crown and was amazed by how fast it arrived, not to mention the precision fit it offered. The technology used is 3-D imaging to get a precise fit, eliminating the need to do the traditional back-and/forth "tap, tap, tap" and resurfacing dance routine.
