Marcy Kawasaki & staff are THEE absolute best (for me). I am super picky with my health practitioners, and my husband and I paid out of pocket to see our GP in town until he finally was allowed into the Tricare system (long waiting list or huge bureaucracy to navigate/apply on the doc side I guess). I try to get my teeth cleaned every 1-3 months.. (OCD thing maybe, I just enjoy it, and it isn't more than $90 for the few times insurance doesn't cover.. And I think they cover 2 visits a year, more while you're pregnant which I am..)
Anyway, she's on Bishop/ft st. Open Saturday's. The sweetest lady!! She gives her cell and home # out to all of her patients. Takes Tricare (I'm on prime and it's all covered). Instead of having a hygienist clean your teeth -- she does it. She's personable and so great! All of her staff are super friendly too. I love going in there, they make you feel like family.. It's a comfy setting and doesn't really feel like a dentist office, even though it's super clean. She still does gold (or silver?) fillings in her kids teeth and those who opt for them instead of the clear/white (I think it's plastic?) stuff [after thoroughly educating you first!] that's currently trendy.. Apparently, this "new" stuff is more expensive, and doesn't hold up as long.. And is more toxic to the body. She also educates you about how stress affects your mouth and how it's all connected. She could tell I was stressed when I first came to her just by looking at the condition of my mouth (I have pretty nice white, straight teeth from braces and I take good care of them) but my saliva production was down and my gums were bleeding. She is the first dentist to teach me how to take care of my teeth correctly so I feel confident when I come in.. Versus before I only liked my teeth coming out of a cleaning, and then coming back for a check up knowing I would be told to floss more (little did they know I did, just incorrectly). Same with brushing.. Never knew how to do it the "right" way! So my efforts were fruitless, but now I have a whole new (healthy) mouth! If body-mind medicine are important to you.. Or any of that other stuff: aloha, great customer service (above & beyond!) I'd try her out :) just call and listen to the voicemail sometime and see how warm/caring they are -- it says so much on its own! read more
