Recently visited Dr. Leong for the first time to get a second opinion on a root canal. From the moment I walked in, everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Leong made me feel comfortable right away and explained everything very clearly so I could understand my options. I've been to many different dentists here on the island, but I can honestly say he's the best dentist I've seen. A lot of dentists make you feel like they only care about the money, but Dr. Leong truly listened to my concerns and took the time to make sure I felt comfortable throughout the treatment. His assistant, Trisha, was also amazing while assisting him during my procedure. The whole experience felt very reassuring and professional. I came in as a new patient for a cleaning and I was greeted by the front office staff and they made me feel welcomed. Rica, who was my dental hygienist that day did a great job cleaning my teeth and had informed me about the areas that required aggressive cleaning. She thoroughly cleaned and to best of her ability. She was also gentle when flossing my teeth. After my cleaning, one of the dentists came to inspect my cleaning and review my X-rays with me and mentioned I didn't have any cavities and everything looked good. I had my first dental appointment. The ladies there at the front desk were so accommodating. They made sure they could take my insurance first. Yes - they can take MetLife So heads up. I haven't been to dental office like for 10 plus years. They have two locations - Mapunapuna and Kapolei. I went to the Mapunapuna because it's down the street where I work. They have lots of parking and the office is clean. They are on time and I had my appointment at 9 am. I forgot my dental hygienist name but she was awesome. She was telling me what she was doing. She took care of me and made my visit smooth. I was scared because I thought I had some cavity but nope. Just lots of plaque. Thank you and I will be coming again for more cleaning in the future. It was awhile since I came to do a cleaning with a dentist , there were alot of things that needed to be taken cared of and I appreciated Dr. Kathleen Cruz and dental assistant Shantell's service . They were both very thorough and patient and explained next steps with my after care and procedures. It was really hard for me to find a good dentist office on this island and I learned that it isn't the space that makes a good dentist it's the Doctors and assistants that make it great for patients. Went for a regular cleaning. Right out the gate, there's forms that delineate fees for late payment (understandable), late cancelled appointments ($50/cancellation seems high to me), and a waiver that says every $$ said at the office is just an estimate until the actual bill comes out (RED FLAG #1). RED FLAG #2: Wow walking through the back makes you feel like a robot going to maintenance. There's these small, narrow offices designed for max output. I got put into a pantry/closet sized one where the distance between me and the sink was literally about a foot. That foot was occupied by the hygienist. FLAG #3: The hygienist told me "everything she's doing today is free and covered by my plan". Something I knew was absolutely wrong because I actually researched my coverage. Ah that's where that paper I signed my life on comes into play if I ever argued about the payment. (They really should train their staff to not make big promises like that. Unless that's their business model...) Oh seems like they have TVs in every room and in the waiting room if that's a must for you. Personally, I dislike them because FLAG #4: Dentist came in really briefly after my cleaning to look at my x-ray and recommended to a fix after asking me 1 question. Call me evil, but it's a pre-existing condition I knew I had. All my previous dentists actually did a hands on check at it (not just look at the x-ray), and told me it's a non-issue. Lol this dentist, looked at the x-ray, asked me 1 question and immediately recommended a costly fix. To give Dentist credit, they said it was "up to me". Still, not giving me the confidence that this Dental Office has the best in mind for my health AND my wallet. Maybe I'm too used to dentists that will tell when something is cosmetic and when it's negatively affecting your health. Overall, the cleaning itself was painless and quick. The hygienist did a decent/standard job. The staff was polite and efficient. My complaint is with the office layout and the Dentist. With how cramped and close together the rooms are, it felt claustrophobic (maybe thats why they had TVs in every room to distract you). For the Dentist, they gave me a rushed diagnostic with little patient engagement. felt like a walking $$ and my medical health DID NOT matter. I would feel uncertain and uncomfortable coming to them for a real dental emergency. Health professionals should be someone you trust to make the best call for you which includes understanding your medical coverage. Leong Family Dental is absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend their practice for your children. Everyone is friendly, the office is clean and they really care about the patients. My son actually doesn't mind going to the dentist anymore. My son had two fillings that fell out on two separate times ( to note - this was done by another dentist, whom we were not happy with) and the Drs at Leong family took him in immediately and fixed his filling. He is not only kind, but gentle and leaves me with ZERO pain. I've had countless doctors who do not administer anesthetic properly which makes the process uncomfortable. I've not flinched once with him and my crown fits perfectly. The clinic coordinators are equally amazing! They've saved me tons of $$$ by recommending me get dually covered and schedule my appointments to ensure my insurance would cover the procedures after my waiting period. Just had my first initial visit here and I was very pleased. I'm honestly the type of person that chooses convenience more so over anything. I live in Kapolei and kind of dreaded having to drive far but my coworker highly recommended this place and I'm glad she did! My appointment was at 1 and I showed up like one minute before lol. I meant to show up 10-15 minutes prior as suggested but traffic way more than I had anticipated and I low key got lost outside the building haha. Luckily, I had printed out the new patient forms prior online and had already filled them out so I was good to go as soon as I checked in. Parking area is small, but there are few spots available up the ramp by the church. If you park up there, on the way down, on the right side of the building will be a door that leads to the stairs. The dental office is located on the second floor. Waiting room was nice and they had Moana playing on tv. :) I was called in within five minutes of sitting down. The whole area is actually pretty big, narrow hallway to each room but plenty of different rooms. I was surprised how big it actually was. My hygiene or dental assistant, sorry not sure what to call, her name was Rica. (Sorry if I misspelled) She was extremely nice and sweet. She did my X-rays which was conveniently done in the same room. (I think if you do the panoramic one, it's in another room) She showed me the X-rays immediately from the computer in the same room and briefly went over them. She then did my cleaning and was extremely gentle yet thorough. She took her time but was still fast and efficient at the same time if that makes sense lol. My teeth feel fresher and cleaner. There's a small tv right in front of you so that was nice.. although it is hard to watch when you're getting cleaned lol. Dr. Leong came in shortly after and went over the X-rays again and went over current problems and past history. He was very nice and informative as well. I have a filling scheduled in a few weeks so I'll see how that goes but I'm sure it'll be great! I was probably in and out within maybe like an hour and 15 minutes or so. And I appreciate that! Because no one likes to be at the dental office for hours lol. They accept Tricare and my estimates were way more than affordable. Highly recommend for everyone, even military families! read more

If I could give this place ten stars I would. My tooth issues have been addressed. The first dentist I went to when I was desperate, came to a conclusion that a root canal would solve my tooth pain. Thank god for second opinions. If I went that route, I would've had a long painful journey. Listen to your gut people when you feel rushed at a facility. No one wants to feel like another chicken in a assembly line at a factory. Patient care was duly noted. I had visited twice from the assessment appointment to cleaning in a matter of three weeks. I appreciated the attentiveness and dedication on finding the root of the pain. After several X-rays and a 2D panoramic it was concluded that my tooth was fractured. No root canal would've been able to fix that. It needed to be extracted, and in place with an implant. I was then referred to an oral surgeon, which will be my next review. I am so thankful for the amazing dentists, hygienists, and receptionists at Dr. Leongs office. The professionalism and kindness emitted by these people is what makes a business successful. Well, looks like I've finally found my permanent dentist. Dr. Leong is very personable, competent, honest, and I truly believe he cares about his patients. Traits I have not really gotten from other dentists I've had in Hawaii. I have been living with shooting pain to my upper right tooth after getting a filling from a different dentist. I kept putting it off bc I was 8 months pregnant when I got the original filling and free time was not on my side. After X-rays and examination, Dr. Leong found my filling had chipped off. He told me he could fix it, but suggested I call the original dentist to see if he would fix it for free. I told him I would prefer he fix it as long as the amount wasn't astronomical. He came back with an estimate that was below what I expected and fixed my tooth right away. I just finished dinner and chewed on my right side for the first time in 10 months. No pain! The entire staff from making the appointment to his assistants were all really great. There was no long wait even though the waiting room was full. By far the best dentist I've ever had. I shouldn't say anything negative about other experiences, but I've had dentist try to up sale me on treatments I didn't need. I've even had one "fix" the wrong tooth and drilled into a perfectly healthy one... I been coming to Dr. Leong's office since 2015. Gotta say, this office is AMAZING from the doctor to staff, It has set the bar with its high level of service with quality. I used to hate going to dentist offices, but coming to a appointment with this office is what I look forward to meeting the staff and the friendly family environment. Almost like visiting family. When my daughter turned 19 last year, she outgrew her Pediatric dentist. During her very last visit, her pediatric dentist mentioned to me that she has to look for Dentist. A year has pass and my daughter is back for the Summer. I had to call to schedule her annual cleaning, the staff was able to squeeze me in the very next day. It was very last minute as my daughter had half day from her Summer job. Talk about convenient! Thank you.! While discussing with my other half and daughter that I will call to get a dental appointment, my other half and daughter mentioned - I don't think you will be able to get an appointment with such last minute notice. Had the fun of repairing a cracked molar, root canal, 2 deep cleanings and a couple cavities filled over a span of 6 months due to not the most consistent at home oral maintenance care. Don't judge me, not that I had visually nasty teeth and gums but just a result of tender gums due to not seeing the dentist regularly lol. After getting over my unrealistic phobia of dentists (made no sense either because up until 6 years ago, I was a frequent 6 month cleaning patient. I don't know, too much TV paranoia maybe.) my teeth have never looked and felt so great! The staff here is AMAZING, not only are they friendly, great listeners, skilled professionals, they're all genuinely good people. They also have a zero interest payment plan option they work with you for any big procedures, a viable option other than using a high interest credit card if needed. Thu 4/15/21 - I had originally tried to schedule an appointment with Leong Dental Office, but they were unable to fit me into their schedule same day as I was in severe pain with a certain tooth that prevented me from even chewing, so they recommended Dr. Devereaux at Ala Moana Dental Care. This review is for Kyle Leong Dental, but I feel I need to give my back story a bit to give some perspective and also to help people avoid another office. So I called up Ala Moana and didn't mention Dr. Devereauxs name but took the first available dentist because I was in such pain. The best way I can describe Ala Moana Dental was a slaughterhouse assembly line. The dentist I had was not very nice, he tried to act nice, but after taking a couple of x-rays and then coming back, said my tooth was cracked and I needed to remove and have a new tooth put in place. He didn't really show me the x-rays, but tried to push me on a replacement tooth and tried to heighten my fears if I don't do it. Didn't trust him and basically they told me to wait outside, after waiting a bit, one of the assistants presents me with a bill and said they can take my tooth out today and schedule a replacement tooth in the following weeks, but then said I can do it today, I hesitated thinking what, but then said I'll call back. The girl gets on the bluetooth and I didn't really expect anything any more at this point and after a couple of minutes tells me that they can't help me and doctor will call back as he has to gather things together, then I'm thinking WTF!!! Well I gave them benefit of the doubt and waited a week for their response, and today Tue 4/20/21, no response at all, what a bunch of bullshitters!!! The main reason I went there was on recommendation for Dr. Devereaux, which I can't say anything about because I didnt get to see him. My tooth was in such pain and they told me there was infection, but they were so busy trying to sell me to removing and replacing the tooth, they didn't even prescribe any medication for me. I asked them at the office and they said doctor will prescribe, when I left, they didn't even ask me where I want to get it, meaning they didn't give a jack that I was in pain and didn't even address the immediate issue!!! I had to call back twice, get that, twice and then they called my pharmacist. Again I stress this place is a slaughterhouse assembly line, slit your throat with a blunt saw and hack away without the slightest care how you feel!!! On top of that they charged me $9 for the visit for basically not doing anything. So not trusting the so called slimebag dentist, I already had in mind for a second opinion and rescheduled a dental appointment at Leong Dental for Thu 4/15/21, I met with Dr. Pong there and that office was very professional and explained everything to me, Dr. Pong also showed me my x-rays and guess what??? My tooth was not cracked, so not only did Ala Moana Dental lie time, but tried to slimeball sales pitch me needing a new tooth. I felt I could trust Dr. Pong as she explained everything to me and gave me options. Though my tooth wasn't cracked, she recommended it be removed, but I didn't have to get a new tooth in place. She was very professional about it and if I did want a replacement tooth, which I will get, recommended me 2 places based on location and gave me choices. Most of all I didn't get charge for the visit that day. I base my decisions on talking to people and I'm pretty good at reading people trying to bs. Based on my experience, I was able to trust Dr. Pong and am very satisfied with my second visit at Leong Dental and recommend them, but I will never go back to Ala Moana Dental Care and want to warn everyone about them so they can avoid nasty experiences that they shouldn't need to go through. read more

My wife really enjoyed her first visit at this office. They made it easy for us since we just moved to Hawaii. The girl on the phone who helped us make the appointment was very nice and informative. The only reason I will not give 5 stars is for the older woman in the front who didn't help us as we came in and ignored us while we waited to check in. Other staff were on the phone and another girl checked us in while we waited in front of the other woman. She came off as very rude and seemed like she did not want to help us. Let's start of my saying I'm one of those who really isn't a big fan of going to the dentist. It's not so much of being scared but feel like it takes time out of my day. However my wife tells me to go so I listen. I was referred to Leong Family Dental by a friend as I wasn't pleased with my previous dentist who I had been going to for years. It's located in Mapunapuna right above Young Guns. There is lots of parking in the lot and if your lucky you can find street parking right in front of the building. When I walked into the office, I was greeted by all three of the front desk staff which made me feel really comfortable. The waiting room is very modern looking good with a nice ocean picture and big flat screen TV. What surprised me was once I sat down, I was called for my cleaning! How many times have you went to a dental or doctors appointment and waited forever to be called? Nope right on time! I was escorted to my cleaning room which had another tv inside! This must be how the younger generation of dentist operate? My hygienist was Ann and she was so friendly. It wasn't one of those awkward conversations. The cleaning was very thorough and gentle. I've had cleanings before that I ended up with blood in my mouth from the cleaning tools and floss. Not today! After my cleaning, Dr. Laurel checked to see if I had any issues. She also asked how my day was as well. It's so weird to say this but it was a great experience for my first time at Leong Family Dental. Oh a plus too is I got a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss and floss threader for my retainer! If you're looking for a new dentist, check it out. I've been looking for a new dentist & I'm so glad that I found them here on Yelp. I chose them not just because they are conveniently close to where I live but because of their great reviews. I've been putting off on going to the dentist because I really wanted to switch & find a new dentist. After reading their reviews, I decided to call & schedule an appointment for my husband & I. The person who answered my call (sorry I forgot her name) was very courteous. She asked for our info & concerns & had us scheduled right away. The day of my appointment came & as always I always get nervous whenever I go to the dentist. I was instantly greeted as I walked in & was asked to wait. Stacy was the one who seen & cleaned my teeth. She was very personable, friendly & gentle. She explained what she was doing & asked if any of my tooth bothered me. I am a Former Employee of Dr. Leong's but I am now a Patient of his and from a Patient standpoint, I have to say I was very surprised about the whole experience. I never got major work done, just two Fillings done but that was when I was in Elementary. Anyways, I've been in pain since Monday but today was my only day off & Dr. Leong went & saved my day! He came in so he could get me out of pain and that's exactly what he did! I was dreading going to my Appointment today but I couldn't wait any longer. All week I kept thinking about the Needle & just every scenario I could think of. But as soon as Dr. Leong put the Topical on, I felt much better. Before he numbed me, I told him, "Don't let me see the Needle! I'm super scared!" He then told me to close my Eyes & Relax, as he said that he stuck the Needle but I didn't feel a thing! Nada, not even a pinch! Then we waited for the Anesthetics to kick in & next thing you know it was time for them to start the Procedure. This is where things get really interesting, Dr. Leong & his Assistant, Rochelle asked if I was ready & I jokingly said No because I didn't know what to expect & I was just so scared but all I felt was a little pressure then boom in less 5 minutes, he said Okay, you're all done! So impressed and so relieved to find a good dentist on Oahu. I developed horrible dental pain out of the blue and called several dental offices before finding Dr Leong's office who was able to see me the same day. My visit was efficient and friendly. I scheduled for a root canal the following week however my pain became unbearable and they were able to squeeze me in earlier. I despise root canals...I mean, does anyone like them??...but they made it a very tolerable and practically pain free experience. Went to this dental office for the first time on Saturday, Jan 26th, 2019. I think I will always be nervous in a dentist office. I have had some bad experiences, but this was a very good experience for me and my husband. The staff welcomed us and we were wisked in pretty quickly. The dental hygienist helped to put my neckalace back on ofter the xray. She said she didn't want me to lose it and maybe she noticed I was all thumbs (probably from being nervous). She asked me a couple of questions concerning the coloring of my teeth. I never knew certain antibiotics could discolor the teeth. There was a lot of respect and professionalism all through this office and the dentist himself wasn't pushy but instead thorough and commented my teeth and gums were really good. I'm very thankful for this experience and now we have a great place to get our teeth taken care of. I highly recommend it! read more

1 star for some of the ladies in the office...sassy and dreadful to talk to. I like the dentists but I feel like my filling was opened up for nothing (nothing could be done so it was closed back up) and my numbing took unusually long. The dental hygienists are great. read more

I had an amazing visit today! My front tooth chipped last night so I called in for an appointment this morning and they were able to fit me in today. I ended up needing a root canal and although they initially told me that I might have to wait until Monday, something ended up opening up. There's such a nice vibe at this office, a relaxed commrodery amongst the workers and that, in turn made me feel really relaxed. Dr. Leong and his assistant did a great job and throughout the procedure he kept asking if I felt pain and if I was okay. The most amazing part was when he built my tooth back up. It's truly a form of art! It looks exactly like it did before it chipped. Going to the Dentist can be unpleasant and scary but I'd highly reccomend this place if you're looking for a good experience. read more

We have had dental service here for the past year. We are very pleased with our service so far. Front desk staff very friendly and we are seen quickly. We do arrive late for our appointments Frequently. But they still take us in and we never wait for very long. If you are looking for good dentist they are all very thorough and take the time to make sure you get what you want done. My wife and I are happy with their service. read more

Great 1st visit. Dental Hygienist Ms Jinkee was awesome. Provided me a with a thorough explanation if what to expect during this visit and insured that I was comfortable from the time that I sat down on the exam chair til the end of my visit. She's professional, caring and courteous. Made me wonder why I didn't come to this place sooner. This was a pleasant dental visit compared to the previous dental office I used to go to. Dr. Leong has been our family dentist for at least ten years, and we couldn't be happier! He and his assistants are very friendly, and Dr. Leong is a genuinely nice, good, honest person. He never suggests unnecessary procedures or overcharges, and is actually very generous. As for convenience, he is right next to four freeway entrances, two for H-1 East, one for H-1 West, and another for Nimitz. And no confusing parking/office finding situations. Parking is right in front of the building, walk up one flight of stairs, and his office right there in front of you. Easy peasy. And no wait time. They are super efficient! read more
