This review is for the hygienist Cathy (Kathy?). I have waited two years to use the insurance I already pay for monthly to go to the dentist because I HATE the dentist. The noise chills my bones. Cathy was the nicest lady. She listened when I told her I was nervous. She asked me if I had any sensitivity and kept numbing my bottom teeth to make sure I wasnt in pain (I talked to a friend that day who told me a dentist charged her for that). She talked to me and seemed genuinely concerned and interested. I loved how I was treated and asked to be booked with her again. The dentist came in. Very young, cool guy who took the time to explain to me what I needed to be more aware of and trouble areas. I chose this place for the reviews and no regrets. read more

Leong Family Dental was recommended to me by a co-worker. Their office is within walking distance of my workplace, so it's very convenient. Scheduled appointment was in order and I was taken to the exam room on time. My hygienist was very friendly, professional and thorough in explaining what she was noticing during her evaluation. I've seen Dr Pong for 3 routine cleanings and exams. Each visit has gone off without a hitch in regards to the doctor. She's professional, friendly, and personable. I haven't had to wait more than 10mins past my appointment time to be seen. The front staff is overall friendly, but more often than not for check in or check out, I have to greet them first to get their attention. We were referred here by another military family in the local area. Let me start by saying I am HIGHLY impressed by not only the staff's incredible customer service and kindness but the chair side manner of Dr. Leong! The dental hygienists were so patient with our young children and gentle! They did such a good job making them feel at ease and cleaning their teeth. The dentist does not recommend unnecessary procedures (my daughter has a small chip in a baby molar but it causes no pain and he said we will watch it but it is not a big deal) or try to overcharge. The dentist answered all questions and took his time to ensure everything was thoroughly completed. I cannot recommend Leong Family Dental enough! As a kid, had horrible dental experiences, which led me to avoid the dentist as much as possible. I needed to get a cleaning and some work done and I'm SO happy I chose Leong Family Dental! The hygienists there are friendly and helpful when answering questions, which reduced my anxiety. Dr. Kevin is very patient and explains what needs to be done in a very friendly way. While they have a ton of business, the assistants always remember me & our previous conversations, and are always super personable and comforting. Same great friendly service i received on phone. Check in was easy. No line. I did wait a little past my appt. I almost got irritated as no-one said anything about running behind, but the girl who did my cleaning was so awesome that the wait wasnt too concerning. I have terrible dental anxiety! While I loved my previous dentist, she was more of a specialist so I was looking for a general dentist for check-ups and routine work, preferably close to where I live in Salt Lake. After reading through Yelp reviews for days, I decided to bite the bullet ( which is not good for your teeth, by the way!) and make an appointment. Dr. Leong's office is open on Saturdays which makes it really convenient if you have a Monday through Friday job. I imagine that Saturdays are pretty popular for appointments so I did have to schedule a few weeks out but that was okay with me. When my appointment rolled around I was super nervous. Thankfully everyone in the office from the receptionist to the hygienist to the dentist was really friendly and welcoming. That day I had X-rays, a cleaning, and was sent on my way with another appointment scheduled. Since my initial appointment I have been back twice and both experiences have been just as good or better than the first. My most recent visit was actually an emergency appointment because one of my old crowns popped off. I was really grateful for them fitting me in on the same day. In addition, I had some unexpected issues with my flex spending account and they were completely understanding and flexible. Good customer service is a must for me. So when I find a company with great customer service I am willing to drive a long way to patronize that business. I had my very first dental visit with Dr. Leong yesterday and it was a very positive experience. From the moment I called them to make the appointment, Sheila was very helpful. I didn't know which specific Delta Dental Plan I had. Instead of waiting for me to call my husband's company to get that info, Sheila volunteered to call them for me. Mind you, this wasn't her responsibility. Her job is to contact the insurance company to get the break down of plan coverage. My job as the patient is to know who my insurance company is and to provide my group number. Big, thank you to Sheila for going above and beyond the call of duty. I got to my appointment very early because I didn't want to be late. As soon as I walked in, Sheila was on the phone but she paused her conversation long enough to acknowledge my presence and to let me know that she will be with me soon. Once again, great customer service that is much appreciated. Somebody give this lady a raise. Lol. The office was getting ready for lunch so I sat there for a while. Since I was very early, that was my fault. As soon as they finished lunch I was quickly ushered into an exam room. I gave them another point for promptness. My hygienist was Cathy and she was super friendly. She was very gentle with my gums. I hate it when a hygienist is heavy handed and I go home with torn up, bleeding gums. At the end of her cleaning, Cathy asked me to feel my teeth to see if there are places she missed so she can go over those areas again. What???!! I have never before been asked by a hygienist to feel for missed areas. This office just racked another point from me. Then, Dr. Leong walked in and did a thorough exam of my teeth including my tongue. I couldn't even pick out my last dentist if I saw him in a police line up because he would be in and out of the room so quickly he leaves a whirlwind behind him. But that was not my experience with Dr. Leong at all. He sat there for a while asking me qestions about my teeth and didn't seem rushed at all. Dr. Leong's friendly and no rush demeanor garnered the office another point. I am very pleased with the office and will stick it out with them despite the long distance I have to travel to get to their office. One of the things that I don't like whenever we moved is looking for another dentist. Thanks goodness I found this place. Dr. Laurel is my dentist. She's very good at what she's doing. Was looking for a new dentist closer to home since I work from home & thanks to Yelp, I found this gem!! Went to their website to fill out a new appointment request & received a phone call just a short time afterwards asking if I wanted to schedule an appointment. To my surprise I didn't need to book a months from the time they called & they were able to take me on the exact date I was requesting. Fast forward to actual appointment date & arrived a little early to fill out the paperwork. Parking & location is super easy to find, since they are just up some stairs & straight ahead as you enter into the building of the clearly marked building. Front desk was very friendly & wait time was just short of 10mins. My dental hygienist was amazing, thorough & gentle. She always asked if I was ok & never asked too many questions which is usually super hard to answer with dental tools in your mouth lol. Dr came in shortly after my cleaning & was super informative & kind. I was in & out in less than & hour & with sparkling teeth!! I would highly recommend this dental office to anyone near or far from salt lake area :) so happy to have found my new dentist, mahalo! read more

This was my first visit to Dr. Leong's office and the front staff were friendly, accommodating, and quick to process new patients. The office was nicely sized and very clean. The hygienist, Stacy, I would highly recommend. She was so friendly and very gentle when cleaning my teeth. She was also very thorough in explaining what she'd be doing that day. I have been going here for at least 4 years. The staff is friendly and professional. They are gentle which is important to me. They can do the xrays in-house which is convenient. They have TVs in each room so you can try to keep your mind off what is going on if need be. I have only had to get cleanings so far. Yay teeth! They also give you a dental goodie bag after your appointment. I like this because you can try out different toothpastes before buying a whole tube and not liking that specific one. Parking isn't too bad with the church parking and the street parking in addition to the parking lot they have. read more

Let me preface this by saying - I have an absolute fear of the dentist! I've never had a good experience, whether it was the needles or the actual procedure. Genetically, I have bad teeth. I brush (at least) twice a day, and floss pretty often as well. However, I've had so many cavities in my lifetime! It got to the point where my teeth were actually cracking and in pain, so I went to my regular dentist in windward mall. They were the absolute devil, and I gave them so many tries that I just figured that that's how the dentist was supposed to be! Fast forward to last week - I was talking to my cousin about my most recent procedure (a tooth extraction) that left me in tears and in pain a week later! She referred me to her dentist, who happened to be a good friend of hers as well. She called him and explained my situation (I needed a root canal the following week, and was terrified to go back). He called me the very next day to ask what the situation was, and scheduled an appointment the next day - a Saturday!! Of course, I was a little apprehensive but a little less nervous than I was with my normal dentist. The office staff was nice, and generally knowledgeable about my situation. The dentist did his initial evaluation, and came up with a plan for me. He was patient and gentle, and never made me feel like an idiot (which is how I felt at the other place). He scheduled my root canal later in the week, and I left feeling a lot less anxious. When I arrived for the root canal a few days ago, I was nervous but also confident. Unfortunately, I was a "rare case" where my body rejected the normal anesthesia they administer. I was referred to another specialist, who was able to see me right away (well, after a 30 minute drive). He was also fantastic, and I left feeling no pain. Although he warned me there might be pain after the numbness wore off, there was no pain at all! I still have to go back for a number of procedures before my smile is healthy again, but in actually looking forward to going back. I never thought I'd ever say this, but I love my dentist! read more

I am the world's most terrible dental patient. As a child when I had to have a tooth extracted, when the oral surgeon came at my face with the needle, in sheer terror I leaped from the chair and ran from the office. Needless to say it was determined that all future dental procedures would be done under general anesthesia when possible, and the dentist and his staff looked at my mother in disgust wondering why she brought a wild animal into their practice. Fast forward a few years, and I no longer run from the dental chair, but I still am likely rated by most dental offices as the world's worst client due to the sheer terror on my face even during the most basic dental procedures to include a cleaning. When I found myself looking for a dentist most recently, I asked friends for recommendations and asked "how are they with kids?" and "do they have televisions in the exam rooms?" you know the normal questions than an adult without children asks when seeking new dental care... When I heard only positive things about Dr. Leong and staff I bit the bullet and called for an appointment. I saw Dr. Pong for my first visit which was a routine cleaning and x-rays. She was very personable, knowledgeable and had a good bedside manner for people like myself who enter the dentist's office convinced they want to rip out all your teeth like a scene in a horror movie. Fast forward a few weeks later and the dental work she said I would eventually need happened sooner than expected, and when I called needing an emergency appointment the front desk staff was able to not only accommodate me for a same day appointment but for one that didn't interfere with my work schedule. Sadly I'm not 100% sure which doctor I saw yesterday but he too was fabulous. He took the time to explain all my options to me and didn't push the more expensive option which is all too common sometimes. He answered ALL of my questions and was even able to cite statistics regarding infection risk and successes, etc. regarding the two procedures that I am looking at. Although I'll never love the dentist because to me the dentist will always be the scary clown from Stephen King's IT, this definitely is the least scary dentist I've been to in a while. If you or someone you know suffer from abnormal fears of the dentist, need a dentist, or are looking to get away from a bad dentist, Dr. Leong and staff are definitely a good choice. read more

Dr. Leong currently shares office space with my soon-to-be retired dentist, Dr. Loo. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect of this new dentist, but I was duly impressed by his professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. He's also made many improvements and renovations to the office space, such as mounting a flat screen tv in the waiting room, having smaller flat screen tv's in the patient workrooms, and bringing in new equipment to help with dental examinations. Dr. Leong is a younger dentist, so now he's thankfully solved my dilemma of having to find a new dentist after Dr. Loo retires. read more

Decided to come here after seeing all the military wives recommending it on Facebook. I was able to be seen for my new patient cleaning in two weeks, which is very quickly for a dental office. I was able to park up the ramp in the church parking area. Parking was hard to find this particular day. The office is located up two flights of stairs. No elevator that I could see. Front office staff greeted and checked me in right away. Hygienist was punctual and brought me back to her operatory right on time. She was gentle, thorough, and fun to talk to. Just got my teeth cleaned yesterday. They're still awesome. Every time I return they remember my family and I and are super friendly. Yesterday they fixed my husband's damaged front tooth and I just cant stop looking at his smile! :) They really work with me to help use my insurance deductible efficiently. I know guys, I know. It's hard to believe that any dentist can achieve 18 five star ratings, 2 four star, and nothing lower. I get it. Reviews sometimes get a little unbelievable on yelp and then you start thinking - this cant be real.
