We took the flight anyway and upon landing I randomly called a dentist, who himself recommended Dr. Kashiwada. He took us in immediately though he was otherwise booked. His care, compassion, obvious skill, and amazing follow-up, was unique in all my nearly seven decades. He is a clinician. He is an expert, on licensing boards, and it is a delight to be in his caring company. He allows you to enjoy a dental visit! We had never met him but immediately felt as though he had been our dentist for decades. He called us several times to be sure we could enjoy our time in Hawaii without concern for the tooth that he skillfully repaired and was our Guardian Angel. We never expected so skillful, so kind and caring, and so wise a practitioner, as we were simple transient visitors. So, how do you define a hero? Visit Dr. Kashiwada and see.

I can tell she is a small office at the moment - she was working reception and was the dentist of course so I can tell she has her hands full. When it came to scheduling the appointment it was a bit of a challenge only because I think she's getting off the ground in her location. Other than that, I found her great! She told me a great new toothbrush that could help me and she ordered one for me. She also told me about a mouthwash and let me sample it - it's awesome by the way - and I appreciated that! She gave me great tips and I'd definitely go back to her. As if she was getting super impatient waiting for my responses. I had never felt so uncomfortable over the phone with someone, she literally made me feel like crap. She was scolding me, telling me that I'd have to pay the next time I cancel last minute again. I apologized profusely and did my best to stay calm. It was very unprofessional the way she handled this phone call and the attitude was just totally unnecessary. Oh, also, if you're African American or Tongan, she wouldn't be comfortable taking you in as a client. She told me herself that she can't work on people with those ethnic backgrounds because of how "strong their teeth are" and that it would be difficult for her to operate on them...seriously, I've never heard a dentist tell me this ever.

I called and spoke with the receptionist Chris. He was very kind and was able to accept me as a new patient. I was able to be seen the same day! Upon walking in, the office is clean and spacious. Precautions for COVID were implemented. I filled out the new patient forms and my insurance was processed. Minh, one of the assistant was very professional, friendly, and compassionate. She quickly took an x-ray and explained to me what she was seeing. I know going to the dentist, especially after a long period can be daunting... the staff here are non-judgmental and very caring. Dr. Le is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and explains all of your options. She explains all the risks and benefits and then gives you her recommendation. I went for my first consultation today and let me tell you, they use a lot of newer high tech technology, they are extremely thorough with checking each tooth and explaining what's going on, they not only share with people verbally but also show you what they're looking at on the tv screen as well. The hygienist, Janet, was so so nice and gentle - I really loved getting to know her better. And Dr. Koga was so personable, knowledgeable, and made me feel heard which is super important to me. Because they are so thorough you do need to come in quite a few times but I will say that they'll help create a customized plan for you on how to best take care of your teeth and the maintenance that comes with it.
