Dentist attempted to clean my 2 year old son's teeth but my son was too scared and so the cleaning was not performed. We were charged $465 for the cleaning. After months of phone tag finally got on the phone with the director, who agreed to waive the fee. Was just notified that there is still a $365 balance outstanding. The director didn't waive the fee - as she said she would - she just "adjusted" it. I guess I have several more months of phone tag ahead of me to avoid being charged for a service that was never performed. read more

AVOID Dr. Arya Dadashzadeh and this clinic in general. I had 2 crowns placed on my molars at this clinic 3 years ago. It took them 2 weeks to prepare the crowns, while the temporary crowns were falling off every day, I had to make 5-6 visits to the office just to keep putting the temps back on. When the permanent ones arrived Arya said that upper molar shifted down and there's not enough margin for a porcelain crown, so he put a gold one instead on it (who does it in our day and age?) 2 Years later, one of the crowns fell off, when I got to the office Aria, tried to put the crown back on but it kept falling, so he grinned my wisdom tooth with no consent, saying that it was on the way of the crown. 3 years after the crown was initially placed (1 year after he attempted to put it back); it fell off again and I didn't have time to get to the office, so the tooth got infected. When I got to Arya he took CT scan and said it had a crack and needs to be retreated. I retreated the tooth and endo said there was no crack. I conclude that Arya just said so to avoid responsibility with this tooth. Also, he failed to point to the other tooth's infection (the one with the golden crown he put on). I wish I never went for crowns, especially with Dr. Arya Dadashzadeh. My teeth had root canals done 10 years ago and I had no issues with them being without crowns. Once he put the crowns, they got infected couple years down the road and he even failed to point to that. This man is a true shame to dentistry. I believe that his license should be revoked. Also, they had a dog in the office, which I can't even fit into my mind... Complete antisanitary... read more

THEY DID IT AGAIN! Knowing that his denture wasn't ready yet, Kaizen didn't call to reschedule his appointment, and so my 96-year old father had to go AGAIN to their office for NOTHING! I wonder how many times my father will have to go through this song and dance! No idea how people with day jobs can afford to take multiple days off for nothing to come here! read more

My husband and our family were going on a trip and my husband had to go for an emergency rootcanal due to a bad toothache (air pressure would've made it worse). We were told the price would be a little over 3k, which we paid out of pocket. We were also told it would only take two appointments, one before we leave to do the root canal, then a second appointment to put his crown in (the crown would take two weeks to come in). When he finished the first appointment they did not say a word to him as he walked out. We left for two weeks, then he took off an additional week from work just to put in his crown. When we arrived at the second appointment only then did we realize that they did not do the impression in the first appointment and he would have to come back in another appointment just to put in his crown. When I booked the third appointment I booked it for 10am, when my husband arrived at 10am they told him his appointment was at 11am. There was also no appointment reminder text or call like any other dental office does. Keep in mind that we don't live on this island, we live on Kauai so inorder for him to attend the third appointment he has to fly back to Oahu. We have told them multiple occasions, every chance I had I reminded them, multiple different people, multiple different times that we did not live on this island. So on top of having to fly back to Oahu for this third appointment we had no idea about, we also had to rent another vehicle and accommodation, which was another $500+. On top of all the confusion and frustration, while sitting in the waiting area I heard one of the younger receptionist talking about other patients like they were dirt under her shoes. While she was taking phone calls she made a few remarks suggesting the patients were uneducated. This added on to the frustration as it had me thinking about what kind of stuff she has said about my husband and our situation. The entitlement in her voice was baffling, absolutely no hospitality. I will not be returning. The only person who really helped us through everything was Jah, he was extremely helpful and accommodating with our situation. He really helped us with talking us through the appointments and explaining the pricing and process. He was apologetic about everything going on which I really appreciated. read more

I switched! I had been going to another dental office for years. I met a group of these folks at the Earth Day event down in the courtyard and they were friendly enough. I had been unaware that a dental office was so closely located in the area and was excited for that alone. Getting the appointment scheduled was easy, a quick online process. I filled out forms that were easy to submit electronically. An appointment was available fairly soon and although they had to reschedule that first one due to hygienist availability, a very soon replacement appointment was available. The visit was great. Easy x-rays. A gentle cleaning. Great music. Comfortable chair, spacious area, clean office, friendly people. The dentist was great as well. The hygienist was who I spent the most time with. She was fabulous. Explained everything well. Was relatable and relaxed. Never felt rushed and made everything seem to go smoothly. They gave great advice for follow up treatments including cosmetic touch-ups. I scheduled my next cleaning as well as some work to spruce up "the smile" . Located at the Pacific Guardian Center buildings in the historic Dillingham. They offered to validate a portion of my parking. There are also meters out front.. The 1st visit is one hour but typically would not take that long, they shared. read more

I have been a member of Kaizen Dental Center since 2020, but after my recent experience, I will never return and am requesting a refund for my membership. When I called to schedule a simple teeth cleaning, the person who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, claiming they were fully booked. However, I immediately found an available spot online for Friday, July 26, at 8:30 am. After 2-3 minutes of unnecessary back-and-forth, he reluctantly confirmed my appointment. On Friday morning, I called for parking instructions, but the office manager was completely unhelpful and gave me no clear directions. After wasting 20 minutes driving in circles around downtown Honolulu, I finally found a metered spot and arrived at the office on time, only to be asked to wait--defeating the entire purpose of making an appointment. When I finally got into the office, I noticed that even their expensive Sonos speakers were covered in layers of dust, which says a lot about their attention to cleanliness and professionalism. Instead of the cleaning I scheduled, they tried to force me into getting an X-ray. I clearly stated I only wanted a teeth cleaning, but they claimed it was "policy" to do an X-ray first. Eric, who introduced himself as the owner, was downright unpleasant and unprofessional, pushing for the X-ray even after I explained it would make me sick. His behavior was not only inconsiderate but also reflected a shocking lack of knowledge for someone in his position. It's clear that after moving to their new location, Kaizen Dental is more focused on making money than providing quality care. They force unnecessary services like X-rays, cleanings, and whitening procedures just to squeeze more out of their patients. I left without receiving any service. The fact that Kaizen Dental insists on unnecessary procedures that could harm patients is unacceptable. Eric is by far the most uninformed and unprofessional person I've encountered in the dental industry in the past 30 years. I expect my refund to be processed immediately to the original method of payment. read more

Dr. Kim really made things easy. He took out my wisdom tooth and did it without cutting into my gums.

Unprofessional front desk, just hang up without even finishing my question on my dental insurance coverage.

I was seeing doctor Eric Murakoa and going to his clinic since 2018, and as you can see below I also gave them a 5 star review in the past, but the quality of this place has gone down the drain the past few years , last year they had another doctor with no experience whatsoever (dr arya , stay away from this guy) operate on a tooth and this person botched it so bad that I'm still having to get treatment done for his mess. The front desk became extremely hostile and rude when I asked for my paperwork and dental history so I can go get a second opinion.. now a year later I'm being asked to redo the cap for my tooth at a different dentist because they botched it so bad. I also had my wife go to kaizen clinic and they scammed her as well by charging her for a permanent ceramic tooth but only putting in a temp tooth, she had to get hers done elsewhere as well. Really sad to see how much this worse this place has gotten the past few years. Pls find a different doctor and stay away from this place, this has become amateur hour and the front desk staff are really rude unlike the previous team that was there read more

I came in for a dental cleaning. Kira did an excellent job. I liked how Bianca asked if I had any concerns. I mentioned that my partial felt a little loose. I liked that she asked this. They recommended a solution after Dr. Muraoka examined me. Bianca always provides estimates, recommendations about dental adhesive, etc. She makes coming to the dentist a pleasant experience! read more

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE! They have this really sloppy dental assistant with long hair and she doesn't tie it back. I had to tell her on a few occasions that it's gross that her hair is in my mouth. She was training when I was getting my mold fitted for a crown and she was doing the mold while someone was watching/guiding her. She was very sloppy! I was apprehensive about the work that was being done, but was trying to be a good sport about it. I gave it a benefit of a doubt and didn't say anything at the time. Sure enough my crown mold did not fit right when they put the actual crown in. I told the office about my experience with the girl and that I didn't want her working on me again. I told them that the crown didn't seem to be the right size, but they said it's fine and it would just take a few days. After a month I returned to tell them that it still does not feel right and it hurts to bite in that side. It was tight and seemed like it was pushing my other teeth out. I told the office about the sloppy girl and that I do not want that girl working on me again. I came back to have the crown looked at, and sure enough she was my dental assistant again! They said that the crown looks fine and said to come back AGAIN if it doesn't get better. I also got a cleaning that day and they had the sloppy dental assistant finish up the polishing. She was still so awkward and sloppy that my face and clothes were wet. She was jamming her forearm in my face that I told her to stop. I told her that she didn't need to finish and that it looked like she was having a hard time. She said it was because she was left handed. That shouldn't matter! 2 months later that crowned tooth was still not right and I ended up breaking the top tooth that bit over the crowned tooth. I DO NOT recommend this place! I have a broken tooth because of their incompetence and excuses! read more

After two years of putting off my dental work and dental visits, I finally decided to schedule an appointment at Kaizen. This is the place to be. From the moment I checked in...to my cleaning...to the docs assessment, I felt absolutely comfortable and at ease there. Past dental experiences made me avoid the dentist. But I know it's important to see one. However, I needed one that had a convenient location, parking, decent hours, and a great staff. After much research (through my dental insurance website, Google, Yelp, etc.), Kaizen checked all the boxes. I admit I was a bit nervous at my first appointment. But the receptionist was really friendly that she put me at ease. Then Melissa brought me back to take my x-rays, dental cleaning and checking out my teeth. She was warm, welcoming and very patient. She explained everything to me clearly and answered my questions. She made feel very comfortable. It was one of the best dental cleanings I've ever had. Dr. Arya came in afterwards to check out my x-rays and teeth. Super friendly dentist. He was methodical and discussed items I should address sooner than later. He was able to pinpoint problems I had but didn't tell him. Which makes me feel that he was knowledgeable and trustworthy. I am extremely happy I found Kaizen. I appreciate the knowledgeable and friendly staff. And I look forward to having great dental care at Kaizen! read more

By far the best dental office I've been to. They moved to a new location that's a little tricky to find - once you find the building, take the elevator up to 2 and it's all the way down the hallway. The office is super clean and bright. The whole staff is very friendly, fun and made the experience so amazing. My dental assistant, Theresa (sp?) was THE BEST. The girl at the front desk way so nice and informative. The dentist himself was funny and did a great job. The girl who cleaned my teeth was so gentle and friendly. I'd recommend this place to everyone. read more

Everyone is very friendly. I only go there for a cleaning and they do a very thorough cleaning .

Kaizen Dental! After researching for hours and hours, I finally found a dental surgeon that could help with my dental implants. Dr. Eric Muraoka and his staff were very courteous and helpful. My old implant broke and I had a temporary flipper tooth for the longest time because there was no other surgeon who would even take the time to look at or remove my old implant because I got it done in a different country. Dr. Muraoka was able to remove the old implant, put in a temporary crown, and order new parts. Within a few weeks I got my permanent tooth. The process was efficient and not painful at all. My implant feels very comfortable and fits perfectly. Now I'm walking around with a huge smile on my face. Thank you Dr. Eric! -Sam read more

Last week I went in as a new patient for a general cleaning and consult. The ladies at the reception were super welcoming and very kind handling my situation. As for the dental assistant and Dentist, Dr. Kim I was appalled with the lack of respect and professionalism. I hadn't kept up with my flossing so as Dr. Kim was standing over me pointing his finger in my face he proceeded to scream "Shame! Shame on you!" At me over and over again. After I tried sitting up asking questions I was interrupted with more "shames and shame on you!" While a finger was pointed in my face. Absolutely disgusting behavior from a medical professional. I will not be coming back. I was also yelled at for not coming in sooner, Dr. Kim failed to realize not everyone has insurance. I was insulted, belittled and outright embarrassed. Terrible management and absolutely no professionalism or accountability. Do not go here. If I could put 0 stars I would. read more

Do not schedule an appt here if you have plans afterwards. Went in for a cleaning, it took 1.5 hours. All I did was wait and wait some more. Nobody seemed to be in a hurry or rush to help you with getting out in a decent amount of time. Appt was at 3:30 I arrive at 3:25 on time. They took me back at 3:46 but no hygienist till 4:16. She was amazing and nice. Got done in 30ish min. Then I had to wait again to be checked out. I finally stood up after waiting 10 min and demanded to be checked out now. Walked out at 5:02. Honestly the lack of urgency is outstanding. I find it very rude they don't value your time at all. read more

I just wanted to praise the team here at Kaizen Dental Center. I hadn't been to the dentist in quite some time and with that I had A LOT of anxiety in returning. I was able to book a next day appointment in the late afternoon and everything from checking in to departing was a breeze. But my highest praise goes to my hygienist. They were so kind and knowledgable. The ease of which they explained things to me made all my anxieties disappear. I needed a little extra work done and they were able to squeeze it all into my appointment. I am absolutely convinced they are some form of an angel! Been coming to this dental office for several years and very happy with everything. Best part is the staff is friendly very proficient in what they do and keeps me informed and reminded when I have appointments coming up. The dentist and staff also participate in various community service events most recently they participated in Special Olympics over the edge last year which I think is very commendable. Equipment, conditions of the space, and overall feel is clean and sanitized and in good working order which I think it's important for a dental office. Location is very convenient not sure about Parking since I just walk from my office downtown. read more

After having my bridge done at another dentist, I couldn't bite down all the way because it didn't fit well. I heard about Kaizen Dental Center from a friend and decided to give them a try. the best dental office I've ever been a patient of, incredible service, and the most down to earth staff. Super easy to schedule your appointment with them on their online scheduler. they're very understanding and helpful if you need to reschedule ahead of time over the phone I dig their 3D printing setup that they have out on display and the little cute figurines that they print. Saving the best for last: They've got one of those gigantic pillow bean beds in the waiting area by the front-desk that you can sink into while you reflect on life and the consequences of not flossing :'( ...or just a comfortable place to lounge while you're waiting for your loved one to finish their cleaning :) read more

I've seen Dr. Muraoka for about 2 years at Kaizen Dental Center for general cleaning, 2 oral surgeries, and now a mouth guard. I have been very pleased with their work, their friendliness and staff, and even the high tech gadgets they use for all aspects of their work. What is really good about this center is that Dr. Muraoka can basically do anything. I have bruxism on my top teeth (I grind them a lot) and have been to other dentists who have told me of great procedures I will need to take to repair my teeth. Kaizen instead gave me a very direct, less invasive, and less expensive way to fix them. Because he's a dentist, orthodontist, and oral surgeon (I actually don't know if those are all different things, but just go with me), he can do everything in his shop. They also have a lab on site so they can get things like mouth guards and the like done in-house. At my last dentist, my mouth guard was a very long process where my dentist had to send them to another place and once he got them they weren't quite right, so he had to send them back and it all took a really long time. I have to mention about the high tech equipment they have. I mentioned they have their own lab and can create things like mouth guards and dentures and such. But it goes beyond that. The check in process is a breeze with all the info on pads for easy check in (and more environmental approach), the scanning tech for teeth, etc. etc. I had an advice once from a healthcare professional who said "always go to a doctor who uses the old methods, and go to a dentist who uses new technology. There have been so many advances for dentistry in the past few years that make general dental work easier, cheaper, less painful, and faster, while advances in general medicine haven't seen the same" so to me the fact that Kaizen knows and uses new tech is very important. Overall, highly recommend Dr. Muraoka and Kaizen Dental. read more

Couldn't be happier! I went to Kaizen Dental Center to try out their Kaizen Aligners and I am more than impressed with the results. Like most of us, I didn't wear my retainers and over the years my teeth began to shift ever so slightly. I began to research teeth aligners and am so happy I found out about Kaizen Dental Center's Kaizen Aligners. They were not only affordable but also super customizable AND I was supporting local, which is always a plus. The aligners were comfortable and Dr. Eric walked me through all the adjustments that were being made. It felt like a collaborative effort because I was able to comment on some of the adjustments and Kacey made sure the aligners fit correctly before sending me home with them. Dr. Eric and his staff are incredible! Super responsive, always made me feel welcomed, and just overall pleasant people to work with. I highly recommend their Kaizen Aligners (3D printed teeth aligners) if you're looking to straighten or re-straighten your teeth. read more

OMG I think I just found my dentist for life (even though I don't live here LOL). I'm on an extended work-cation here in Hawaii from the Bay Area and it just dawned on me that my last cleaning was 1.5 years ago. Uh oh. Did a quick search on Groupon and this was highly recommended. I didn't expect much to be honest. EVERY SINGLE Groupon dentist that I've seen for cleanings has tried to upsell me on UNNECESSARY procedures: "oh! you need to have this cavity refilled otherwise you are in danger of a root canal! (and other BS)". My wife has had the same experience only to be told by her regular doctor that, uhhh, no you don't have to get xyz work done. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME that a Groupon dentist didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary work. Plus 100 for that alone. Another plus 300 for Kira who was utterly patient, thorough, gentle, and skilled. I told her that this is the most relaxed I've ever been for a cleaning and that this was the first time I literally felt no pain as I usually have major sensitivity to cold air/water in one of my teeth in the upper right. I will request Kira again when I go back. Dr. Muraoka was straightforward and to the point when doing my exam and again, didn't try to upsell me on filling any cavities or getting any root canals LOL. Another +100 for Jonathan who was able to squeeze me in the very next morning at 7 am after I called; he was also very professional and prompt and courteous. Since I'm in Hawaii 1-2 times a year anyway, I plan to take advantage of their house plan which as of today's writing allows for 2 cleanings with 1 xray and exam per year for $150. Holla at a great deal everybody! Thanks Kira and Dr. Muraoka and Kaizen staff. You have a customer for life! (Even though I don't live here LOL!) read more

For $35 dollars, you get a x-ray, a deep cleaning, and a doctor checking up on your teeth's health, and a goody bag, it is a great deal! The staffs are in top of their appointments. I got in earlier than the original date because someone cancelled. My dental hygienist is very nice. She did a good job cleaning, and I felt no pain or discomfort. At the end, the doctor came in and told me the condition of my teeth, and recommended a few things for improvement. I greatly appreciate the professionalism, and have already scheduled to come back in 6 month. read more

This isn't your normal, out dated dentist practice. I've gone to my dentist for decades and I love him, but I had to bring my daughter to see Dr. Muraoka and just walking into the office was enough to make me change my mind about my dentist. The office is very bright and clean and the staff is genuinely nice!! You can tell they love their job and love working for Dr Muraoka and it shows in how they approach their work and how they deal with the clients. Dr Muraoka was super friendly and had genuine concern for my daughter and her well being whole she was there. He showed us around the office and all i can say is state of the art! He showed us the lab where he did most of his work in house and introduced us to the lab techs who helped him. They were just like the rest for the staff, friendly and happy. Going to this dentist and this office was such a pleasure! I can't state that enough! My daughter needed emergency retainers made and they had it done in less than 24 hours! The service Dr Muraoka and his staff provided us was incredible! The whole atmosphere in that office was fun and friendly and professional!
