Pure Light is my new best recommendation to anyone who is pregnant!! Maninder worked wonders on my prenatal hip (pubic symphesis) pain, taking me from limited mobility mid-pregnancy, to feeling great and nimble in my body by 9 months - not the typical trajectory, and I credit it completely to Pure Light. BEFORE: I had never seen a chiropractor before, but my OB recommended it during my second pregnancy, for my worsening pubic symphesis pain (common pregnancy ailment where front middle of hip bone hurts). I had to quit doing prenatal yoga, and I was limiting even how much I walked. DURING: At first I was hesitant to see a man for prenatal care, but Maninder was amazing, made me 100% comfortable, explained everything about chiropractic care to me at my first appointment, and ended up being who I saw for almost all visits. At every appointment, he "adjusted" me, which felt like gentle pushes, tugs, and pressure, as well as some that felt relaxing like massage. From the first time, it made my body feel more relaxed, and I could tell it was slightly affecting my posture; after a few appointments, each adjustment made my body feel relaxed and aligned as though I'd just had a long massage - but it only took 10-15 minutes! Over time, after a few weeks, my body caught on and stayed in better alignment, so I began to feel good all the time, not just after appointments. AFTER: It was like magic, after a few weeks, my pain was so reduced that I was back to long walks and normal movement. The last few months of my pregnancy were totally turned around, as this allowed me to stay really active and feel better emotionally as well as physically. Dr. Laine is wonderful! Chiropractic adjustments became a big part of my health regimen after developing autonomic/nervous/musculoskeletal issues. Ahhhh I walk in to Dr. Laine's office and immediately feel relaxed. Dr. Laine specializes in holistic therapy, so not only focusing on your spine but on your overall health and well-being. Pure light does not accept insurance, but the prices are reasonable. Insurance usually puts limits on your treatments, so the fact that she does not accept insurance is actually better, as she focuses more on YOU and not what the insurer is telling her. The hours on yelp are actually incorrect. She has new hours--Monday-Friday 10-1;3-7 and Tuesday/Thursday 2-6 and Friday 9:30-1:30. Dr. Laine is patient and really takes her time to get to know you and your body. She understands your stress levels and what your stressors are and how they relate to your pain. Pure Light is off South First and South Park behind Viv Nails and a coffee shop. The parking is limited, but you can park on the street and behind the building. Once you park, go in the middle of the building and it's the first door on the right on the first floor. Hope this helps a little! I started seeing Dr. Laine a couple of months ago during my third trimester of pregnancy. I was having pretty severe right rib pain and the baby was transverse, so I wanted help getting her rotated into the right position. With twice weekly visits (mostly Dr. Laine but have also seen Dr. Sarah a couple of times- both great), both issues have resolved! Dr. Maninder was the first chiropractor that I saw at Pure Light - he was immediately likable and I loved how he talked about chiro care in its most holistic, whole-body approach. I started going to Dr. Laine after being introduced to her while we both were training for a marathon with the FX Austin run club. One of my former students is now a chiropractor and insisted over the years that I see one for wellness. Dr. Laine has improved my life a great deal! Dr. Laine has been a great help to me. I started seeing her for chronic hamstring problems. I play a lot of sports and I keep pulling the muscles and have to sit on the sidelines while they heal. She has kept me on the field playing all year...no pulls so far. Also, while seeing her, I mentioned I was having an unusual amount of headaches. After asking me a ton of questions she thought I may have been short on magnesium. I started taking magnesium on her suggestion and the headaches are gone. She's good. I had injured my lower back, and was in constant pain for a year straight. Finally, when the pain migrated down my right leg, it got to be more than I could stand. Let me start by saying that my first visit to a chiropractor left much to be desired. I went to a different chiropractor closer to where I currently live. I was disappointed. I felt like nothing was really done. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try Pure Light Chiropractic. I have never been so pleased visiting a doctor! When I walked in, Nina the receptionist was so welcoming! I came in with my husband and my son. My son was a little terror when we first walked in and his bottle of milk practically exploded all over us and the floor- and there was zero judgement! We cleaned up the mess and Nina gave my son some legos to play with and he eventually adjusted to the environment. When it was time for me to go in, I saw Dr. Paula. She was wonderful. She really took the time to sit down with me and explain to me what she was about to do so she could soothe my nerves. When she examined me to see what was wrong, she took her time and found EVERYTHING wrong with me! She hit the exact spots where I was hurting and told me what was wrong. Then when it came time for the adjustment, she made sure I was comfortable with every position she had me in. The adjustment made me feel a MILLION times better! Dr Laine is amazing! When I was 30 weeks pregnant I started to have constant, unbearable back pain. I tried massage and prenatal yoga to alleviate the pain, but it wasn't until I added chiropractic to the mix that I experienced relief. Dr. Laine came highly recommended by several women in my yoga class who were also experiencing discomfort and had received relief by coming to see her. She practices the Webster technique which in my research is optimum for pregnant women. The office is very clean and the staff (particularly Nina) are all very friendly, professional and welcoming. Dr. Laine is also so sweet and really takes the time to explain what she's doing, give you stretches to do at home to keep you aligned in between sessions, and is just overall a lovely person. I was a little nervous going in, but her knowledge and bedside manner put me at ease and I felt very confident that I was in good hands. My only regret is that I didn't come to see her sooner.
