We just successfully finished the first phase of the contract (framing and major structure), and now we are moving forward and agreeing on the finish phase with them. He might not be the cheapest bid you get, but throughout a 2 year process he stuck to his promise that he would never go over his estimate. We had a complicated situation because we also had to connect our old septic system to the city sewer. This was a nightmare and Pure Energy took care of every bit of dealing with it. The only delays we ever had were waiting for the city and Tom and his team did everything they could to expedite that. They aren't that serious of a company. I called and setup a time for them to come by. They were really nice over the phone and accommodating, agreeing to come on Saturday. They sent an email confirmation after the call and I thought we were good. They totally flaked on the appointment, and didn't provide a contact number for us to call to check in with the person who was supposed to show. Their office is also closed on Saturday, and so no way to get ahold of anyone. The consultation is like a first date when you should be on your best behavior. If this is their best behavior, I can't really imagine doing a job with these guys. It's not the end of the world, but yeah, pretty lame. Updating from 1 star to 3: The owner called me, apologized, explained that their scheduling tool dropped my appointment. They were sincere about rescheduling, and generally nice people. While I didn't end up moving forward with them, it was much better than completely ghosting. Sometimes stuff just doesn't work out. Read the other reviews and balance this one experience against people who have worked with them more closely. read more

As anyone can see from the photos on their projects, the work that the team at pure energy does is really phenomenal. But I wanna take a moment to just talk about the team itself. The people that I worked with, Tom and Omer, and Stephanie and Joel in the office were all so pleasant so accommodating and so wonderful to be around. From both speaking to other companies and working with other construction people or receiving quotes it can be really challenging finding people that that were as pleasant, professional or kept what they promise. 8-9 months of hell treatment for two bathrooms to be completed. It's extremely difficult to have any respect for this company or the owner when you're treated like you are not even human. He puts his hands up and shoos at his customers and constantly blames everyone or everything else he can create excuses for. Just note. Any work you do doesn't include door jams. They do one thing and tell you that you didn't include a long list of work which a normal thinking contractor would automatically include in a complete bathroom. Tom has talked down to me like I'm his dog and I owe him my soul, the customer is never correct(even tho I have more experience than him). Hired teenagers to do tens of thousands of dollars of work and refuses to fix it. This is what happens when you hire this company. Tom, you were literally just here for the first time in 6 months and still raised your voice and tried to shoo me away with your hand flicking. You obviously have a problem with me or with women in general. Anyone who wants to know about my experience fully can contact me. I have photos and all messages. I have no reason to lie. We needed to add another bedroom to our home, but we didn't want to add square footage. So, our project consisted of a room conversion (adding walls) and hallway extension. When we met Tom, we provided him with our already approved plans, and he was able to give us a very thorough and reasonable bid and timeline all during our initial consultation. I worked with Omer on a bathroom repair that turned into something of a minor remodel. He was quick with a quote, made it very clear what needed to happen, what the timeline would be to complete the project and the expected cost. He was able to guide me through the process despite my nervousness and paranoia about the issue and process. He was calm, professional, and made sure to check in with me each day so that I would be apprised of the progress and plan. He even went out of his way to make sure that materials would be on-site for his team to complete the work by the expected date. My issue was initially caused by a toilet leaking at the drain, so the subfloor had to be replaced, and since we were in there, I wanted Tile installed. Even when we found some issues that needed updates to bring the place up to code, he was clear about the issue, and his recommendations. When we found some issues that were overlooked during the quote phase (adjusting the door height to accommodate the new tile, and creating a transition from the tile to the rest of the bathroom flooring) he was able to have those things added to the scope of work without additional cost to me. His team was able to get the job completed in just a few days, even with Home Depot taking longer than expected to make some of the needed materials available. I would recommend him and his team to anyone needing Bathroom work. I am very happy with the work, and expect to call him back in when I am ready to get my kitchen remodeled. read more

He was also very patient with me as I kept rearranging project priorities, adding and removing them from the list. I've always heard horror stories of projects going for much longer than expected, but Omer had helped me project a timeline with buffer room, but finished even earlier than that. Since the first moment I spoke with Stephanie on the phone to schedule the estimate and throughout the entire project with Omer and Tom, it felt very comfortable to communicate the design, scope of work, budget and design changes during the work processes. The workmanship was excellent, tile work came out amazing. All inspections passed on the first time and we had about a dozen of them in total. They were very respectful of my home and always kept the area clean. I didn't come with the highest of expectations because I've heard horror stories from my friend's experiences with contractors and how hard it was for them. I was very adamant about the details from day one and to my surprise I was impressed every step of the way. Honestly, I couldn't ask for better experience. On time and on budget! First lets start with this was an unexpected project that happened after a valve burst in the wall. A plumbing repair and two weeks of water and mold mitigation later, we were looking for a contractor. Tom was the 3rd contractor to stop by. After meeting with Tom we threw the other contractor's cards away. From the first meeting, Tom was able to articulate the process/next steps for us and from the very beginning was also was able to assuage any fears we had while offering to help us make design decisions we were on the fence about (if we needed it). *spoiler alert* we needed it. Once we agreed on what work would be done, timeline and price, work started. We saw work being done daily, with daily progress. As work was being done we added slightly to the scope, and work kept moving along without missing a beat. The communication was very good, very consistent and very accurate for the entire process. We had a glass shower enclosure, where the glass was not reusable, which was the final step in the remodel. Pure energy sent us a glass installer and had us pay them directly to ensure there was no markup. At that point in the process trust was built up, but it was another added touch to keep the cards face up and show all things as above board. As each new step was starting and as each step was complete Tom let us know what next steps would be. As work was being completed, it was being reviewed by a supervisor to ensure it was done well and correctly. The result was a beautiful bathroom oasis. Communication and craftsmanship were the #1 priorities for me in this project. Those were two home runs in this project for Pure Energy Construction. Things were not always perfect, we had an issue where our hot water heater was not turning on, Tom was here in the dark, in the rain, with a flashlight trying to get our hot water back on. The commitment to getting the job done right was refreshing. Floor tiling was wall to wall, even under the vanity! One of our new shower fixtures had a much smaller trim piece to go around it. The installer cut a new tile with pinpoint accuracy to recover the look. Every challenge was overcome, and every solution would lead you to believe there never was a challenge. Due to needing new glass (which had to be measured and ordered) we did extend past our timeline, but that was communicated prior to breaking the timeline. Even so, it was very hard to complain as we saw work being done daily and the quality of work was very good. Overall, we will definitely consult Pure Energy Construction on our next project. Which leads to the biggest problem I had with them. Because their work was so good, my wife figured out several other projects we could have them do so we don't have just one new room in the house *sigh* (lol). That is a good problem to have. The fact that we were able to get through a major project without any major issues or hiccups was a great feeling and kept stress to a minimum. After reading a lot of reviews and interviewed five contractors, we chose Pure Energy. Their quote was the second highest therefore not the cheapest, but their project manager made us feel comfortable with his confidence and his promise that there'll be no surprises(more on this later). The guess bath then the master bath were completed in a timely manner and to our satisfaction, any and all shortfalls were addressed and corrected. The major kitchen remodeling including taking down a load bearing wall started out strong. But then the communication with the project manager slowly diminished towards the end of the project. We were in a situation where we had to leave for a summer vacation while the kitchen was still not completed AND communication with the project manager was nonexistent. Therefore before we left for our vacation, I posted my first 3-star review as a reminder for Pure Energy that the project is not complete and they need to finish strong like how they started it. Tom the owner saw my review/reminder and immediately reached out and stayed in communication throughout my 3 weeks vacation. He took over and pushed the project to completion. We came back from our vacation and were mostly satisfied. Again, any and all shortfalls were addressed and corrected. We did a lot of research going in and thought we knew what and what not to do with major home remodeling and how to deal with subcontractors. Still, there were a few things that we learned. There were quite a few back and forth about specific things that needed to be done. We had to dig deep in our emails and text messages to produce 'evidences' that certain things were promised to us by the project manager. Kudos to Tom the owner for honoring these promises. The lesson learned here is to spell out everything on the contract, but it's also impossible to think of everything, therefore keep all communication as proofs and evidences. Regarding there'll be no surprises as promised by the project manager, there were two that one may consider surprises: 1. Once the project started, the electrical panel needed to be upgraded from 100A to 200A due to the demand of new higher end appliances. I think a good project manager should've been able to tell us upfront this additional task and costs. 2. There were kitchen countertop allowances, and we picked the countertop material that we really liked. The project manager didn't tell us what we picked would exceed the allowances UNTIL months later, he surprised us with $6500 addition for the high end countertop material that we picked. If we were told upfront or earlier, we might have picked some other material. But then again we're very happy with the countertop that we picked despite the extra costs. Anyway, it's impossible for major home remodeling project to go without hiccups, and in our case with Pure Energy, the owner stepped up and delivered. Therefore we would still highly recommend them for your next project. And updated the review to a 5-star. read more
