Visited over the weekend as they were hosting an open house with free classes to celebrate the studio being under new ownership. We were welcomed promptly by the front desk staff to check in. My friend received several phone calls leading up to the class to ensure she came prepared with grip socks. I however did not receive a call so was not prepared. I ended up having to buy a pair at the studio (no biggie-- I have a cute pair of socks now). I found it a little odd that socks were even needed as the studio was carpeted. I have not done many barre classes so I'm not sure if this is standard. There were several classes offered that morning, my friend and I took the 9am. There was not any sort of introduction by the instructor or overview of what the class would entail, we just jumped right into the class. It's one thing if it's a regular class, but when you're hosting an open house and looking to attract new members I would have appreciated a little bit more of an overview and a chance to connect with the instructor/studio. The music good and I definitely left feeling like I got a good workout (especially my core!) The owner was very positive and welcoming and even gifted the attendees with little mementos from their travels-- which I appreciated and thought was a nice touch :) read more

Pure Barre is a Class Pass member and I've always wanted to try a class ever since this location opened up. I signed up for an afternoon classic barre class and filled out my waiver online before class started. When I got here I was warmly greeted and check in was no problem. I was given a tour of the space. The check in and front area has merchandise for sale, and the studio is spacious and well kept. There are cubbies next to the studio to stash your belongings. For the classic class all your equipment is provided which for our class were 2 lb weights, a ball, looped elastic bands, and a mat. You do need to provide your own grippy socks and they sell their own brand at the studio. I got some at Target for around $5 which were good enough for this class. The class was a good pace, and the instructor was very friendly, welcoming, and engaging. She asked prior to class if I had any injuries, past or present to be aware of. I appreciated her encouraging attitude and she was great at providing instruction on how to do all the moves and letting me know how to do an exercise correctly. The classic barre is a good overall workout and my abs, triceps, and lower body muscles were sore the day after. Some of the crunches/ab exercises were hard on my neck and I had some neck pain afterwards but in hindsight that is usually what happens with me and crunches and I'm sure the instructor would have offered a modifier had I mentioned it. The studio itself was very clean and well ventilated. I appreciated that it was cool enough during class that I wouldn't overheat. Overall it was a great experience and I'd go again to try another class. read more

Both the current owners and previous owners love Pure Barre. This shows in what they do. Interestingly, they both see owning Pure Barre as a learning experience where they may grow alongside their company. It's their labor of love. Like anyone else, they participate in classes so understand the clients' needs as only hands on can. Participants are encouraging as is the Pure Barre app. I would love if there were more events that we could make like-minded friendships. A physically small space discourages lingering. first time trying barre, glad i did! took their Foundations class and was able to keep up while also learning new techniques. the instructor Lori was very helpful in correcting my form. i enjoyed the music and style she taught the class. the studio is located in a fun spot with movies, food etc nearby. they keep the restroom fully stocked with toiletries and also have a variety of cute workout gear for sale. will definitely be returning to try their other classes! read more

I had a good workout, but it is maybe for people who exercise more often than I do. When I went, it was smelly inside like a good, hard exercise. I would have gone more, but you need grip socks. If I thought I could attend regularly, I might have bought grip socks and enrolled in the weekly classes. As it is, my schedule doesn't allow it. I think that this is a cool idea and gives me a good workout. The instructor was great and she didn't push me more than I could do. I liked that. The owner was there and she was incredibly nice. Pure barre is also conveniently located in Tempe near the Alamo drafthouse and a breakfast place. It looks like there is a new restaurant also opening near Pure barre. read more

Found this studio doing pop-up classes all over Tempe and Mesa. The owner (Lori) and all the staff have been really informative and sweet. Decided to signup for 4 class a month membership. I usually just do the classic barre class as thats my speed. They do have a range of classes and I can't wait to try them all. So far, I tend to take classes with Amanda and Julia. Both Amanda and Julia are great at watching your form and making suggestions for modifications. The studio it self is super cute. Has a lots of fun stuff to buy. The location is prime for Tempe as close to 101 and 60. Nearvy great options for running errands after. Definitely give this place a shot. I can feel my muscles growing and my fat shrinking. They have an app to signup for classes or got to the front desk and there is always someone there. read more

Pure Barre Tempe is truly my second home & I recently resigned my apt lease because the thought of moving away from PB killed me (for real lol)! What I love most is that this studio is so welcoming of all fitness levels, shapes, sizes and ages, this workout can be for literally everyone! I love the flexible class schedule: sometimes I'm an early bird and other days I like to take class after work. The choreography changes constantly so even if you take class everyday, each class is different! In the past I've had regular gym memberships, HITT class memberships, etc. and barre is the ONLY workout that I stay consistent with and actually look forward to each day. I'm going on 3 years and have not once felt bored or ready for a change. There are fees if you don't show up to class or cancel late BUT let's be honest, those fees help hold me accountable and get my butt out the door. Lori is a true superwoman and QUEEN and cares so much about her team and every person that walks in the door (not to mention her classes are killer!) I had the pleasure of working at the studio for a few amazing months and I wish I could have made it my full time job! :) It's such a positive uplifting atmosphere and the playlists during class will put you in the besttttt mood. The teachers are an amazing group of ladies that will motivate and push you to give it your all each class and ensure you leave with a smile! My advice: if you've ever thought about taking a barre class, do it!! :) no experience is needed. But be sure to give it a fair chance and take a couple of classes. Class 1 is always a little overwhelming (as with any new workout) By class 3 or 4 you truly get the hang of things, how class flows and the queues/language the teachers use. GO SIGN UP!!!! To say I'm obsessed is an understatement! For a couple years I've been telling myself, "do PB" but because of life it never seemed like the right time. Fast forward to June 2021 and I decided to do it! I love it!! I love that the classes are 50 minutes which is enough time to burn calories and get a killer workout. With the pandemic and because I also work from home I felt like I needed an outlet and that's exactly what PB offers, with 3 kids it allows me the time to go and for my husband to not feel like I'll be gone for hours. In these short two months I have noticed how different my body looks and feels, I feel stronger and toner. It's definitely pricey but so worth it, especially since my employer pays a part of it. Cannot wait to see what 6 months look like for me and beyond that. The best part is the people you meet, from the instructors to the women attending class I have found such a welcoming community. this place only cares about money and not their clients. I was in a really rough money situation and had to cancel my subscription which they're not happy about and i explained everything to the manager and she double charged me for canceling which is said no where in the contract where they can do that. all these workouts you can also do at your own house. you don't need to pay 120+ a month to do workouts here. and you know this place is shady because the manager has deleted my reviews at least 4x. I joined Pure Barre Tempe a few years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made for my body, mind, and spirit. The workout 450 classes later still remains challenging, fun, and effective. The class times are convenient for my schedule and there are a variety of instructors to choose from (all of whom are fantastic and put a lot of care in ensuring the clients have proper form to avoid injury) Lastly, the community of the studio is so welcoming and chill. Some of us are students, some of us are parents, some are educators, doctors, social workers, therapists, and so on. It is such a treat to know them and be with them several times a week as we as individuals take 50 minutes of our own busy lives to focus on our bodies and personal wellness. read more

A great low-impact workout for toning, motivational instructors, and a schedule that fits yours! I've burned anywhere between 350-900 calories per workout according to my Samsung watch. I am obsessed with this place! As much as you feel yourself getting stronger and leaner, the routine never gets easier. I have been attending the Chandler location since 2013 and the Tempe location since they opened in the summer of 2019. It is the perfect place for toning! When I completed my first 30-day challenge, I was able to see a 4% body fat decrease (without focusing on dieting). My entire body had become leaner. The instructors will keep you coming back! And although I have my favorites, I haven't found one that I don't like. They all have great ways of motivating and challenging you to get the most out of your workout! This location has Classic, Empower and Reform. (Empower is their cardio class and Reform reminds me a lot of a pilates reformer class) Pure Barre is open 365 days out of the year and offers several times that can fit your schedule. I know, as my schedule has varied greatly over the past few months and I'm always able to find a time to go. The pricing IS expensive, I myself struggle with this a lot. However, the time availability and the fact that they have a class every day, I believe makes it worth it - plus its a 5-minute drive for me. Also, the toning is unmatched to the TONS of workouts that I have tried and worth it! A plus-side for me too is a great owner. You see the owner in the studio a lot, she knows her clients and is always willing to work with them. I will always support a small business that runs that way :-) 05/16/20: COVID UPDATE: they are scheduled to reopen with restrictions on Monday May 18th! Enjoyed the class just don't like the business. Took the free try-us-out class and was told if I signed up for a membership the first month is discounted. Great! Sign me up! The next day I lost my job. Thought well now I can go more and get my money's worth. Not even a week later I got a new job but because of the hours the class times don't work for my schedule. I tried to cancel but I was told because I got the discounted month I was locked in for 3 months paying $169 for the last 2 months. So now I'm paying for something I cannot do because of my work schedule. Just don't see that as good business when I notify them so early in the membership. read more

I've been coming to PB Tempe since they opened in July 2019 and I have truly found a home in this studio. The owner, Lori, is extremely personable and present in the studio. Every instructor is knowledgeable and goes out of their way to help each client feel seen. Even with the studio being closed due to COVID-19, the staff have found a way to keep members engaged through daily livestream classes, retail sales, Zoom happy hours, and spirit day themes. Pure Barre is an incredibly challenging and fun workout for every age, body type, and ability. I plan to keep coming here for my primary workouts for years to come! read more

The teachers always channel positive vibes during classes, which helps keep you motivated -- even during the 90 second planks! The workouts leave you shaking (in a good way!) but feeling empowered. I've been a member for a little more than a year now, and I love it! I could never find a workout that I could actually stick to for more than a month until I started classes at Pure Barre Tempe. Now more than ever, Pure Barre has been my stress reliever, and I always feel better after taking class no matter what mood I was in beforehand. I really enjoyed the instructors and variety of classes offered here. I even like that the studio is clean. My only regret is signing their contract. I had used the studio consistently for the first two months that I had joined and then my knee injury was aggravated and had to stop using the studio. I let the staff there know. I felt that this was unlike most big name chains and were more personable, but turns out, that was not the case. Most facilities would offer to freeze your membership but I was not given the option. Instead I was billed for an entire month of which I could not use the studio. I even cancelled my membership according to the contract requirements. I was charged another 30 days After my advance notice was provided according to my contract. Each time I asked for an explanation as to why this is the case no one employee could provide a clear answer that made any sense. I was finally told to refer to my contract Section 2 by a manager. Well I read and re-read and clearly says to provide a 30 day notice. With that being said....just be aware of what you're signing up for here. The contract is not clear or they just continue to charge for no reason. I am now being charged $170 and a late fee so about $200 total. read more

This studio is truly amazing! I moved to Arizona in February and decided to try out a class. The instructors are incredibly intentional and make you feel welcomed the moment you walk through the door! I signed up for a membership after my first trial class because I knew this was a community I wanted to be a part of. I have to say, nothing could have prepared me for how they have responded to pandemic- they have exceeded my wildest expectations. Creating a Facebook group for members to participate in classes while at home, creating challenges, book clubs, zoom calls for happy hours and scavenger hunts for merch, and sending personalized cards to members(I love snail mail so this really touched me!). They have helped me feel at home here in Arizona and I am so thankful I found Pure Barre Tempe. Check it out I promise you won't regret it! read more

Amazing workout, wonderful staff and community-centric studio! I have tried out many different fitness studios/clubs and can honestly say that Pure Barre Tempe has one of the most welcoming environments I have ever experienced. The staff genuinely cares about their members and it shines through in everything that they do. The workout is fantastic and allows you to work different muscles than other traditional workouts. The classes are always changing so that you are continuously challenged. The classes are also scalable to different fitness levels. I was able to continue with Pure Barre throughout my pregnancy and postpartum and can honestly say it had such a positive impact on my physical and mental health. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, it is worth stopping in to meet the fabulous staff and give the workout a shot! read more

BE CAREFUL! This facility is predatory and will wring you out of your money. During COVID, I had paused my membership with the studio and hadn't been to their facility for months. Later, I joined at a different facility that was closer to me. I figured I needed to formally cancel my membership even after those months, but when I checked my PureBarre Tempe dashboard several times it said "no active membership." Imagine my shock when I was charged $170 months later. No big deal -- PureBarre Tempe would make it right... right? WRONG. After explaining the situation, there was no mercy. They had my money (almost $200!!) and REFUSED to give it back, citing legal technicalities. They then offered to have me come into their studio to use my credits, but I explained that didn't make sense since I was already paying to be at another studio. So what's the moral thing to do in this situation? I ask that to any business owner and any customer. What would YOU wish to be done? In the end, PureBarre Tempe refused to give me even a partial refund of money even understanding the full situation. That's terrible customer service. I am shocked at the gall and disappointed in the way they handled this. I do not recommend visiting this studio for that reason. read more

DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT! The staff mislead you when you are enrolling and verbally tell you things that are different than what is in the actual digital contract they have you sign. I was so excited to enroll after a free trial class because the studio was great, the class was awesome and the staff were so friendly and seemingly helpful. I immediately signed up for a three month trial membership. A month into my membership I found out I was medically unable to continue with this workout program, so called to cancel my membership and was told that I had to honor the three month commitment, which stinks but I understood. I also specifically clarified on this call that after the three months I would have no additional obligation and they informed me that with a 3 month membership I was allowed one 30 day membership hold but that was all. I agreed to honor the three months and attended no classes for over two of those months. I paid $135 on 7/26/19, 9/26/19, and 10/26/19 per the terms of my three month agreement, taking into account the 30 day membership hold. After the 3 month agreement ended, despite what I was assured when I'd called, they auto renewed me at an increased rate for $169 on 11/26/19 and 12/26/19. As another reviewer noted, they absolutely do not discuss the auto renewal OR 30 day written cancellation notice requirement when they are cheerily chatting with you as you sign a contract on their small iPad screen as a line to sign in for classes is forming behind you. In fact, they are reiterating the parts of the contract you are fully aware of while absolutely ignoring the other very pertinent things you would want to know and rushing you along to sign. Get every correspondence in writing and do not bother with in person or telephone promises, they will not honor them. Shame on you, Pure Barre. I was so excited to have you in our community and spoke so highly of you before all this. I am extremely disappointed with the shady way this local business is choosing to run their facility! When you are attending classes there they act like you are valued and that they genuinely care about their community so it is very misleading when they end up taking advantage of you. This place is all about money and the front desk/manager have major attitude. All of the workouts you can do at home yet they force you to have a 3 month subscription, probably because they know people quit all the time due to the high prices and the availability of doing the workouts at home. They will find any excuse to charge you, if you miss a workout, if you cancel they'll charge you double and then take away the remaining classes you have. There are so many other places you can workout at that have a fun environment and dont care just about money. read more
