The positive is that the classes provide a decent muscle workout. The negatives; 1. This facility is overbooked. You will have to reserve far in advance for each individual class. If you have a 9-5, good luck ever being able to go. 2. Classes are almost always PACKED. You have to be careful not to get kicked or hit by the person next to you. Classes are in a room way too small for the class size. 3. They have a very unforgiving late policy. If you're 1 minute late to a class, they consider it a "no show" and LOCK THE DOORS and then charge you $20 on an automatic penalty! 4. It's expensive. For having to struggle just to book a class, why is it so costly? Their overhead is very low; the building is small and old, and all the equipment they use is cheap weights and mats that require no maintenance. So, you don't get as much out of the value. You can't rely on getting into a class, you don't get specialized attention, you're in packed room. Where exactly is the value at $35 per class? 5. Not clean. The room smells (of course, it's packed with 20 sweaty ppl class after class). They give you just one almost dry wipe to "clean" your mat, your weights, and any other equipment, which is basically doing nothing. 6. You have to clean up after yourself. It kind of feels like kindergarten because after a class, you line up to put away your own equipment one by one (after insufficiently disinfecting it with one evaporated wet wipe). At other studio classes they don't make you do this extra task. 7. You have to use special socks just to go to class. Forget your socks? $17 for new socks for the class. Come on. 8. There is almost no parking. There's usually 2-3 staff on duty, 20+ members trying to take a class, and maybe 8 parking spots, so you're going to have to look for a spot on the street. 9. If you know you won't be able to go regularly enough to justify a monthly pass, they sell class packs. But those expire, so you kind of end up rushing to use them up, and the classes are always packed. I ended up forfeiting like 3 classes. And they're not cheap! 10. Because the classes are so packed, the instructor seldom gets to you. Sure, they do a good job of remembering your name, but if your form is wrong, good luck getting anyone to help you. You might get one note per class, maybe two. If you don't know what you're doing, you don't get much out of the workout. 11. The instructors speak quickly and don't explain what they mean. They use lots of esoteric terms about the form, but they don't explain clearly. It's hard to keep up. These are the things that have annoyed me about going, to this particular location, so I declined to sign back up. read more

I'm so happy to have joined as a member of pure barre. PB is a national franchise & known for its great expertise of instructors as they all go through a thorough training process and from personal experience, have all been knowledgeable on technique and modifications. The specials are always changing so call the studio and talk with them. They were so sweet to work with me to find the best membership for classes given my circumstance. It's really true- the shake is where the magic happens. From my experience, the girls here have been a pleasure to work with and very accommodating to modify my membership start date when I had a last minute trip and are so welcoming. The app makes it super easy to book and cancel classes so if you use it effectively you won't be penalized or pay cancellation fees.. the 4 hour window is super reasonable. I was approached via Instagram for a free foundation class. I am a new mom and had been running a bit behind while waiting for my babysitter. I texted to let them know that I would be late and sent my ETA. I was told it was ok. I was not communicated though that if I was late I would not be allowed to enter the class. Was very disappointed especially when I had to coordinate a lot to get there! I wish they had communicated, I just would've cancelled rather than wasting half an hour just to get there to find that out after arranging child care. Such a waste of time. This was the first Pure Barre studio I started at in 2011 and so happy to be back!!! Even though I've been tucking for a while the workouts still make my muscles shake !!! Darby has taken over ownership and done a awesome shop with keeping the studio vibrant and lots of awesome retail that you can't keep your eyes off of. Different types of classes have been added since I started and Reform with Erin, Haylee, and Katelynn is my favorite. The floor sliders implemented in the routine make me feel as I'm in a Pilates class, therefore makes the workout very challenging even for a experience barre babe as I. Empower is a cardio class added a few years ago and Marcia is such a energy bunny the class is done in no time with the shirt full of sweat. Then there is the good old classic barre classes which after taking the other two styles you would think it would be easy but it's probably the class that isolates your little muscles the most. In this class you really get to focus on one muscle group at a time and next day you feel sore, but fabulous at the same time. Sydney is so spunky and full of energy when she teaches this class. She makes you want to show her your best form. Heather, has such a calm personality she makes you feel welcome when arriving and during her empower and classic barre classes I always feel as I'm in yoga but it hurts much more with the calm environment. I am in my late 50s and I have been coming to this pure barre location for the last two years. I have done many different kinds of workouts in my life and I am also a registered yoga teacher. I never thought I would find a work out that I am absolutely addicted to and look forward to going to each day. I am in better shape than I have been in years and I have kept off the 10 pounds I lost three years ago. I attribute this to my regular attendance at classes here And I usually go 6 to 7 days per week. Pure Barre has proven to be a beautiful complement to my yoga practice. I am stronger than ever and my clothes fit better than ever before. All of the teachers are excellent and thoroughly trained. I can't think of a single teacher who's class I do not enjoy. The prior owner Dory and the current owner Darby Have a true positive presence in the studio. I love the three different styles of class and I make it a point to attend some of each every week. As a bonus the classes are usually small and you get lots of individualized attention. I have made so many wonderful friends in the classes and I always feel so welcome whenever I walk in the door. This place is my home away from home. I do NOT like to work out HOWEVER pure barre the heights is more than just fitness. It's a community of friends that cheer you on with each class. The classes are challenging yet fun and different which is perfect for someone like me who does not do well at an open big box gym. Group fitness classes have always been more my thing if any, but pure barre is different because the classes are on the smaller end, the instructors know you by name, they hands-on correct my form when needed, and the energy is always on point. I've been doing nothing but Pure Barre alone for 3 months (and have done nothing for for fitness before this) and have since tightened up my body drastically, gained tremendous upper body and core strength, lost inches in my waist, and gained confidence! I'm reluctantly attaching a photo although the before picture is embarrassing, it's worth showing how much tightening can happen in only 3 months of just Pure Barre classes alone if you stay committed (no special diets, I love me some wine and pizza!). The classes don't get easier or boring bc Pure Barre stays changing up their workouts which is great for those of us who take class often! It's always something new! Even down to the music! Pure Barre has a (seemingly) great community, nice girls, and sore muscles on occasion. Some of the moves are tough to get (is anything really happening for anyone when we do abs against the wall?) But overall, I enjoyed the vibe of the class. This lasted about three months, until I found myself counting down the minutes until class was over. This wasn't because the class was so tough, or I was uncomfortably sweaty-- it was just because I was bored. If you are a cardio queen who likes to leave class with her heart thumping, endorphins pumping, Pure Barre isn't for you. It is very very routine. Dory (the owner) was kind enough to allow me to cancel my three month membership one month early, as long as I paid up the difference between the discounted contract months and regular month-to-month price. I was grateful, and happy to pay the fee. I noticed a random $15 Pure Barre charge on my card last week and got in touch with Dory to find out why, as my contract had already been terminated a few weeks prior. Turns out that if you are signed up for a class, even if you have no classes left in your MindBody account, or even if your membership is OVER, and you do not cancel the class, you will still be charged a no-show fee. I'm not sure how MindBody/Pure Barre doesn't automatically remove you from any classes you may be registered for once your membership has ended. The payment method for the $15 no-show fee, according to MindBody, was my "three month membership," which no longer exists. They were able to charge my card because MindBody has it on file, and it cannot be deleted. That doesn't really seem fair to me. I asked kindly to be refunded, but that couldn't happen. I asked for written proof about the no-show fee on my contract or MindBody, and this is what I was told: "Our no show fee is communicated at the studio so that we can explain the purpose in person because we do not want it to be portrayed as a punishment. I am so sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope you understand the purpose is to encourage people to take themselves out of class if they cannot make it in order to make room in the class for those that can." Why would I still think I was signed up for a class if I no longer had a membership at the studio? I have worked in customer service for a very long time. Waiving a $15 fee for a customer who has already given you over $500 in business shouldn't be a question. If you are into Pure Barre, great-- but be wary of the red tape and fine (verbal) print. read more

This is my favorite barre studio! The atmosphere always has high energy and it makes you want to be there and get a great workout in. All the classes are great but my favorite is Pure Empower that adds a little bit more cardio a weights while still using classic barre movements. I was sad to see Pure Empower and the Reform class to go off of ClassPass but definitely still will attend. They have great pop up classes at different places around the Heights and they always have something fun going on to meet other Pure Barre members. Besides the great workout you get, they also have super cute active wear to purchase. I definitely recommend trying Pure Barre to everyone who wants to get a great workout in with fun people no matter what skill level you are at! read more

I've been coming to Pure Barre - The Heights since June 2015. I love it! It has been the ONLY workout I have consistently stuck with. I love how the classes are always challenging but never harsh on my body. I never have to worry about getting an injury at Pure Barre (unlike some other workouts I've tried that are WAY too focused on speed instead of form). The small, repetitive movements are not jarring to your body, but they really work the muscle! They also offer 3 different types of classes so you can vary your workout and try something new. Love the convenience of this place. I did a trial week back in December and am now a regular. It's honestly been really easy and fun to keep up with the workouts since you know what to expect but there's just enough variation to not get boring. All the instructors make everyone feel welcome. So nice to be in and out in less than an hour. My favorite part is how many classes they offer and that there is always space available. My schedule is always in flux so it's crucial knowing I can check the app and find a class I can hop over to in the next couple of hours. I hate working out. I've had trainers, gym memberships, workout buddies, etc, but I could never quite stay focused or in a good routine. I gave Pure Barre a try and I'm very very satisfied with the experience. The studio is spotless and the instructors and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The workout is no joke. It's hard. Hard as in you're going to be living on ibuprofen for the first couple of weeks. The workouts don't get easier, but this past month I've felt myself getting stronger and leaner. The app is quite handy and lets you book classes ahead of time. This has helped me stay motivated to go since I have a set time. Take advantage of the $99 new client unlimited class special. I have postponed writing a review for about a month. I kept thinking I needed to figure out what it was all about and when I would start dreading it. Since its been over 2 months and I still love it I guess it's time to publicly commit. It's a challenge and I shake like a leaf but that endorphin high I have heard so much about, well, I finally get it. It takes you outside yourself and centers every ounce of your attention on the effort you are putting forth. There are all types of people in the classes and everyone is encouraged to focus on themselves. It really does do amazing things to your body too. I have 2 babies and have had a really hard time getting my stomach back. I read so many articles on diastasis and tried lots of different types of workouts. Now, I finally see a big difference. Finally, the owner Dory is amazing and she's got a talent for keeping great instructors ready to help with adjustments and answer questions after class. I got a thorough workout in my first-ever Pure Barre workout this morning at the Heights location. As a complete newbie, I felt a little lost.  Our teacher didn't always demo the exercises, and I was left looking around the class trying to figure out which of the many variations was the closest to the goal.  I wasn't always sure which muscle group we were targeting.  You can look like you're doing what everyone else is doing, but be missing the point if you are using the wrong muscles. . . . I know that will get easier each time I attend. I was happy to hear about the 'first week free' because I hadn't seen that on the website. I am glad there are packages so that I can buy groups of classes instead of unlimited access.  The prices are higher than most studios.  I plan to continue my Ashtanga yoga practice, but I hope to add Pure Barre to my routine. read more
