Took a beginner/intermediate ballet class for the first time and it was so much fun! I came in a few minutes early and the very nice girl at the front desk gave me a quick tour of the building. When she showed me to the back, Alisa, my instructor was there to greet me with all smiles. I have taken a few ballet classes as a kid. Now that I'm stiff and old it was somewhat difficult to follow some of the exercises but no worries Alisa will help you get through them! She was so patient and encouraging throughout the whole 90 mins of class. This particular class only had adults, men and women. Even if you have never taken ballet and just want to try it out, this is a good place to start. They also offer jazz, aerial silks, barre, pilates, and more. I was also informed before I left that there is an introductory offer for first timers at this studio. You get unlimited classes for 30 days for $30 What a great deal!

Aerial silk is one of the many classes you can take here.

My daughter has been taking aerial here for a year and a half. We just absolutely love the center and the instructors. We actually moved 40 minutes away, but still make the drive just because it's worth it (rather than switch to another place 5 minutes from our new home). Highly recommend HDC for all ages. Such a wonderful place.

So much fun! Love their team and the classes. Super professionals and supportive. Silks

Luckily he has been in dance since he was young young like younger than 2 young so he has some sense of beat and classes. The teachers Ms. Lilly and Ms Jessenya are so patient and kind with him. He loves going to class and has a great time. He's always telling me that he wants to show me what he's done in class. We were allowed to go in for the first few classes and then sit upstairs but the kids were so distracted that now we all wait outside and watch via Zoom which is typical of most dance classes with kids. He has learned so much from this class and pretty sure most of these teachers were professional dancers and trained in classical ballet the way that they move. Parking is easy and the studio is well maintained and clean.

Fast forward to now, when I renewed my ClassPass for a month trial, RYDE was the very first class I booked because it was my favorite. I've tried other cycling establishments, but RYDE reigns superior. The studio is clean and modern. And the bathrooms are equipped with everything a girl will need, and they have Aesop soap! That's all that I need to say. I am a regular rock climber, but once I phase out of that, I can definitely see myself being a RYDE regular. The classes are high-energy, and the instructors are fantastic at keeping you motivated. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes with Gustavo and Leon. If you are on the fence about giving cycling here a chance, please do yourself a favor and try it out. It is like a party, but you're putting your energy into biking. I'm not sure when I will be back because I currently cannot justify paying almost $300 a month for a membership, but I look forward to my next visit to RYDE!

I've taken multiple teachers, and all have been great. Be warned, this is the type of cycling class where you'll be doing arm choreography, but that's what makes it so fun! It's a really clean space, and the room is dark, so you don't have to worry about all eyes being on you. I wouldn't say it's easy for beginners, but you can always adjust to your needs.

No, they don't have multiple classes running every hour of the day in multiple studios. But Met Dance has been around for a long time (they're celebrating their 30th anniversary this year) and it is obvious that they are an integral part of Houston's dance heritage. I have never taken a class here where I felt judged by my skill, my body, my outfit, or anything else. All of the instructors I have taken class with (mainly the ballet instructors) are amazing and each have their own unique strengths, so you really cannot go wrong with any or all of them. Roberta is an efficient instructor who runs a solid class; Alisa is great for beginners as she is thorough with breaking down steps; Michelle is kind and encouraging; Dominique is lovely and gives the BEST grand allegro combinations; Pattie is an absolute queen and strikes a great balance between perfecting your technique while also developing you're a artistry. Michelle and Pattie also run pointe classes for adults who are interested in getting on pointe, and all of the instructors I've taken class with are agreeable to me doing barre en pointe since the pointe classes don't fit in my schedule. Most of them are beg or beg/int classes, but the instructors trust you to modify as needed. Last but not least, the community at Met is incredible. The instructors remember your name, your story, and welcome you warmly every time. I'm glad to have found this dance family in Houston :)

I…read morefirst learned about Duo through signing up for a pilates class, and I fell in love with the place more through the people and the vibes in the connected coffeehouse. From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Pro tip #2: there is option to order ahead with the QR code in image attached. I have not tried, but that may help skip the lines and make it easier for drink pickup. Pro tip#3: going for pilates here makes it so much easier to grab a quick bite or drink before/after workout!
