Then this is the place for you. I do have to forewarn you however. Are you thin skinned? Do you take criticism badly? Are you passive? If you are then this might not be the place for you. Damon really does a great job of coaching and occasionally that requires some strong feedback...its there to make you better. If you can't stand the heat you should probably stay out of the kitchen. The reward far outweighs any tension of not getting it right - you will get it with enough reps and openness to coaching by one of the best. Aside from being the guy that asks women to dance to being the guy that women are fighting to dance it spills over into the other areas of your life. Rebecca was very quick at responding to our emails and is really informative in each email she sends you. There is a 5 class wedding package that worked perfectly for us. A few months before the wedding, we weren't sure if we wanted to spend extra money on taking dance lessons for the wedding, but as the date was getting closer, we were feeling the pressure of putting together something, so we decided to check out yelp and came across The Dance Whisperer. We felt the price was reasonable, and I had confidence based on reviews that Rebecca would be able to help us from looking ridiculous during our first dance and sure enough she made us look amazing! Everyone raved about how great we were and even my mom said our first dance was so amazing and my mom RARELY compliments anyone or anything. We scheduled our five sessions after our first class to make sure we could get in the books before the wedding and that was not a problem since Rebecca had perfect times for us in the evenings after work. It really didn't take too long before we could get some basic steps down and tried incorporating some interesting turns into our routine, and she was very patient in making sure both of us had a firm grasp before moving onto the next level. Our wedding dance had some interesting turns, spins, and steps with a big finish incorporated into it. The stress and anxiety of it all leading up to "The Big Day" didn't help, and at one point my hubby took a wrong step, but was able to correct it flawlessly without anyone noticing--all thanks to her! Each appointment is 45 minutes. EXACTLY 45 minutes. If she says be there at 5:30pm, you better not knock on that door at 5:29pm (and steal a minute from the previous couple) or at 5:31pm because you already cut into your time slot. Of course, you can double book. That said, she is very professional and methodical in her guidance, and seems to live and breath the art of dance!

All I would get back is a vague text message. I drove all the way from league city because I really wanted my daughter to try salsa class. Thinking to my self well, I can just register her when we get there. I get there, and they tell me she needs a mask, but they wouldn't provide her with one .. if it's a requirement, then they should provide it . The guy at the front desk was rude and would even suggest where I could get a mask to purchase one. Nothing seems to me like they didn't want to work.

My journey with DAA Dance Academy (and its associated company, which you can find on Yelp under…read more"Dance of Asian America") is a little unorthodox, but I think it speaks volumes to the experience that you can expect here. I am an adult dancer in my mid-30s with a super busy schedule and some creaky bones. I danced throughout my grade school years, led a 200-member-strong dance company in college, and participated in several semiprofessional dance companies in the Greater Boston area in my early 20s. I've been slowly easing back into dance now that life has calmed down, and one of the first places I reached out to was DAA Dance Academy. I initially participated in their adult Chinese dance class, which is taught by the wonderful Helen Hu. It was a very welcoming environment - nonjudgemental, fun and full of laughter, and I found an immediate camaraderie with my classmates. After several classes, I was (re)bitten by the dance bug and reached out to the company director of DAA, Janie Yao, to discuss being more involved. Given my extensive prior experience, she and the academy director, Yeri Bingham, graciously offered to let me take some trial classes with the company and eventually welcomed me in with open arms. I cannot say enough about how validating and comforting of an experience that is: I returned to dance after over a decade away from it, feeling embarrassed and anxious about whether I could keep up. The directors were willing to work with me to find a solution that would allow me to feel fulfilled, while also keeping in mind the learning environment and needs of their current students. I was given several private lessons to help me catch up on choreography, and they continued to check in on how I felt the entire time. The other company members are all INCREDIBLY talented high schoolers that run circles around me, but they have also welcomed me warmly as one of their own despite me being more than twice their age (haha!) I truly think is a huge testament to how nurturing an environment DAA has been, to raise students that are this collaborative, patient, and kind :)
