Rebecca was very quick at responding to our emails and is really informative in each email she sends you. There is a 5 class wedding package that worked perfectly for us. A few months before the wedding, we weren't sure if we wanted to spend extra money on taking dance lessons for the wedding, but as the date was getting closer, we were feeling the pressure of putting together something, so we decided to check out yelp and came across The Dance Whisperer. We felt the price was reasonable, and I had confidence based on reviews that Rebecca would be able to help us from looking ridiculous during our first dance and sure enough she made us look amazing! Everyone raved about how great we were and even my mom said our first dance was so amazing and my mom RARELY compliments anyone or anything. We scheduled our five sessions after our first class to make sure we could get in the books before the wedding and that was not a problem since Rebecca had perfect times for us in the evenings after work. Rebecca is so personable and even though we have only met her 5 times, we felt very comfortable with her in each class which was kind of frightening in the beginning because we were both inexperienced with dancing, but she started off with basic steps to boost our confidence and gave us a little preview of what to expect for the next class as a bit of homework to practice at home. If you want to secure yourself in the comfort of looking half way decent during your first dance at your wedding--or at least not look like a complete imbecile--you better contact Rebecca and get with it! It really didn't take too long before we could get some basic steps down and tried incorporating some interesting turns into our routine, and she was very patient in making sure both of us had a firm grasp before moving onto the next level. Our wedding dance had some interesting turns, spins, and steps with a big finish incorporated into it. The stress and anxiety of it all leading up to "The Big Day" didn't help, and at one point my hubby took a wrong step, but was able to correct it flawlessly without anyone noticing--all thanks to her! Each appointment is 45 minutes. EXACTLY 45 minutes. If she says be there at 5:30pm, you better not knock on that door at 5:29pm (and steal a minute from the previous couple) or at 5:31pm because you already cut into your time slot. Rebecca was absolutely fantastic - when life slows down (ha!) we want to continue to take lessons from her! She is patient, breaks things down, covers all the bases (even how to enter and leave the dance floor!) and we learned moves we have been able to translate to other dances. Most importantly, she really taught us to connect on the dance floor and we both find dancing SO much more fun now. She teaches more than just a choreographed dance (which was beautiful, by the way) but also how to communicate on the dance floor. We were both so nervous when we started thinking about our first dance, and by the end of our sessions with Rebecca all the nerves were gone. If you are looking to learn a dance for your wedding or for private ballroom, Latin and any other kind of dance lesson, Rebecca is wonderful. She has a very small studio but she is patient, listens carefully and you will never know that you have two left feet. She is full of encouragement and is positive but firm. My husband and I go for private lessons (which are the only option) and it has become one of our very favorite "date night" activities. We have taken private lessons before but Rebecca is the best. Of course, this is a couple's studio so you will need to have a partner...and then you will need to find a place to go out and try your new skill! Still, this is so worth it and there are no contracts and your first lesson is free. We love it and highly recommend it. If you're thinking that awkward middle school dance is your only option for your first dance, think again! My new husband and I don't have 2 left feet, but we're not especially gifted in the dance choreography department. I wanted to do something fun for our first dance. My husband just wanted our dance to be better than his brother's. We accomplished both of those goals with the Dance Whisperer! Rebecca was very easy to work with! We gave her our requested songs and she had something ready in her mind before our first lesson. Our first lesson was just learning the basics. I'll admit -- after that day, I questioned how we would get through the whole thing at that pace. But by lesson #4 we had finished the whole dance and had done countless run throughs of the more challenging parts with her. My fiance and I could not have asked for a better dance lesson experience. Dance lessons seem like something you "should" do prior to your wedding, and--though we were somewhat on the fence about whether it would be worth the time and expense--we knew we didn't want to feel awkward when it came time for our first dance. It's hard to know what to expect when you sign up for dance lessons, but for some reason the idea of learning a standard dance move (waltz, foxtrot, and the like) or some sort of canned routine quickly comes to mind. That couldn't have been further from the truth with Rebecca, though. Under her guidance (and in her comfortable, private dance studio), we became very comfortable moving together--to the point where we even developed choreography to our chosen first dance song. The best part, though, is that the choreography really reflects both the nature of the song that we chose and our personalities--and she was very receptive to suggestions and feedback that we gave. How many people can say that their first dance includes moves as diverse as a waltz variant, a swing routine, and the Carlton?! Working with Rebecca, we've gone from being on the fence with dance lessons to lamenting the fact that they'll be over when we get married. I cannot recommend her more highly. read more

After our first lesson we knew we have found the right teacher for us and opted for her wedding package. Rebecca was very kind and patient with us as we were most certainly beginner dancers. It was clear she definitely knows her stuff, too! We also had a very non-traditional first dance song (The Talking Heads) with which Rebecca had no problem at all working with. My wife and I wanted to do something special for our wedding dance not just the hug and sway, since neither of us knew how to dance we decided to take dance lessons. We first tried using Fred Astaire dance studio. After a few lessons we were not really getting anywhere, it just was not the best fit for us. Then we found The Dance Whisperer online. Rebecca was great and understood exactly what we were trying to do. (be able to look like we knew what we were doing). We took her 5 dance lesson wedding package. The first two lessons she taught us the basic steps. She was able to explain and convey in a easy to understand way the moves and techniques needed to get the basic steps. (In a way I will probably never forget quick, quick, slow, slow). The third lesson we started to introduce spins and more complicated moves. The fourth lesson putting it all together. Then in the last lesson reviewing and finishing the choregraphing of our dance. Not only did we have a great first dance but we have been able to remember and to use the moves since.
