From the first day until now, I've felt the experience, kindness and awareness of the instructors. Solid instructors, good music and great air for the H-Town Heat. read more

29 classes in... and I figured it's better late than never for a review. Especially for such a fantastic studio! Remember the kid who always trailed in after running the mile breathless well after all the other kids had completed their mile, many under 8 minutes in PE class? Or the kid that always got out first in dodgeball? Well, that is me. I've always been sensed that I am poor at fitness, and subsequently, I never enjoyed it either. That is until Citizen Pilates - my favorite way to work out. It truly is a class for all fitness levels as there are multiple ways to take moves. The instructors are universally friendly, and they gently course-correct but not so often that you feel discouraged. The music is upbeat, and a lot of the moves are a great workout, but many are lower intensity. That's exactly what I'm looking for! My favorite touch is when instructors provide options for taking springs. (Some days, the red or green spring is not my friend) Also, the help desk and support are always there with prompt and ready help should it be needed. Highly recommend for anyone of all fitness levels. read more

I was anxious to attend my first ever Pilates class, but the coaches and environment were so welcoming and encouraging! I have been struggling to find a form of exercise that I enjoy, but I think I can safely now that I'm committed to continuing reformers Pilates at Citizen! The prices are reasonable and I enjoy the non-competitive/nurturing atmosphere. read more

I really love taking classes at Citizen Pilates. Cryssi and Chelsea are both great instructors and make the classes fun while still being challenging. I always feel good after class and actually look forward to coming back. Such a great studio and vibe overall! read more

Love this place, clean, challenging, culturally sensitive and flexible. Good follow up and friendly staff

My favorite Pilates studio in the heights and garden oaks. I started back here after a break and I'm so excited to be back.

Great studio, knowledgeable and friendly instructors. Love the reformer classes for the last 2 years.

Love love love this place! You will get a great workout here. The instructors are so nice and personable and classes are fun.

I loved Citizen when I first joined their Houston Ave location, and I love Citizen even more with their addition to the Heights location. This studio is a bit bigger compared to their Houston Ave in my opinion. I love the vibes Citizen gives. Jess, the OG citizen, is the best instructor hands down. She KNOWS what she is doing. She motivates me to come in & I'm always excited to see what she will think of next! I love how sore my whole body feels after one of her workouts. She helps you with your form, and if you need to modify the routine, she helps you with that as well. I love the marketing Citizen does as well! Buy one of their tees and join the cult! read more

I joined Citizen Pilates with a friend 2+ years ago. I had never done pilates and it was a real challenge at first but the amazing and encouraging teachers were so supportive. I have done on average 2-3 classes a week and it has made such a difference in my muscle tone and balance. We have gone to both locations and had only great experiences. I personally love the jump board class for the great cardio. I have tried other pilates studios but Citizen is great for me and the various priced packages allow great options and are competitively priced. read more

I have been to all three locations for Citizen Pilates, and I love the classes and the instructors. Since attending classes here, I branched out to explore a few other places for reformer fitness, but it is just not the same. The level of friendliness, encouragement, and familiarity between instructors and students is unrivaled. CP focuses more on proper form than on repetitions than other places. While the coronavirus has definitely impacted my job and ability to attend classes more consistently, the November challenge is definitely keeping me motivated! As tired and exhausted as I may be with other responsibilities, I know that if and when I do manage to make it to class, I feel so accomplished and enjoy my time! The instructors are so caring and kind that I find CP to be my happy place. As for the Heights location, I love attending jumpboard classes and pilates stretch classes here. This was my very first location, but I keep coming back for more. I wish some pilates stretch classes were available during week nights again here and at Garden Oaks, but that's just because I miss Bailey F! read more

I thought I'd try something different since I was tired of the traditional gym. I'm so glad I did. The classes at Citizen Pilates are fun and perfect for me. As a newbie, Joey helped me understand the reformer and the music is great! If you're looking for a boost to your exercise routine, try it! read more

Citizen Pilates - Pilates Near Me - Houston, Texas

What a great experience!! I highly recommend! Everyone is very patient and knowledgeable.

I've been trying Pilates with reformers at different studios, but I've ultimately settled with Citizen Pilates. I take classes with their instructor Scott, who is very clear and concise with his instructions. I struggled a little during my first initial classes, but with a couple of classes later, I feel like I'm improving (hopefully, lol) The exercises were all doable and went at a very steady pace that wasn't too overwhelming, but gave a good workout. I would recommend anyone looking to try out Pilates to try it here! They even have a water dispenser so you don't have to bring your own bottle. It's an intimate class setting with 7 reformers, as most Pilate classes have and are 45 minute sessions. read more

Good class and lots of fun. It was my first time there and the instructor was pretty patient with me. Maybe machine Pilates isn't my thing as I feel as though my body hasn't improved after months of doing it. Still a good challenge and a good studio read more

I've taken 30+ classes at Citizen Heights. I love every class I've taken. Morning classes with Rebecca and Jami are the only things that make me jump out of bed for an early workout. I also love any class I can catch with Lauren. Each class feels different but I know I'm going to leave with a great workout. read more

If you're in the waitlist for a 5am or 5:30am chances are good you'll get in. I was waitlisted 3 times this week and got in because I just showed up to the studio and there were a bunch of no shows. On Tuesday, I showed up and got in right away and was able to start class on time. On Thursday however, I was told there was a 15 minute grace period for people to show up late to class. And that many "regulars" were on the list so I had to wait. It was close to 5:10am and FOUR of the machines were still empty and I was just sitting in the corner waiting. FOUR MACHINES. Note - classes are 45 minutes long, so that's nearly 30% of the class I missed. Which if you're familiar with how Pilates classes are structures that's a big chunk bc half your muscles are uneven because you missed the warm up and one side of lunges, etc. So needless to say, I started my day a bit unbalanced and frustrated. Not the best way to kick off the morning. Furthermore, no where on their website does it mention the 15 minute grace period policy. And most other studios in town have stricter policies of 5-7 minutes. This 15 minutes for "regulars" seems arbitrary and special treatment. Also at 5am the only reason you're late is if you sleep through your alarm. There's no traffic to deal with. read more

This is my first time doing Pilates- I'm 5 classes in and I'm loving it so far! Each class is different and challenging and fun! It flies by and I feel like the 45 minutes were efficient because I'm always a little bit sore the next day. I love the small class sizes and all the instructors have been so upbeat and nice. I haven't tried any other studio in Houston and honestly, I probably won't. This place is clean, effective, and conveniently located with plenty of parking. That's enough for me! The only reason I took a star off is it can be hard to get into classes sometimes. You have to know your schedule and plan ahead although I have been able to get off about half the waitlists I sign up for. read more

This is definitely what I have been looking for in a pilates studio! Small classes with dedicated instructors. No class is exactly the same and you walk away with a great work out. Studios are clean and modern. Its best to book in advance as classes do full up quickly. For first timers toe socks are not required. You can work out barefoot or purchase socks at the studio. read more

Pro: So far I'm enjoying it. I'm new to pilates, so it's a learning curve for me. It has been challenging and still rewarding. No class is the same. Instructors are patient with my lack of coordination. I look forward to working out. Classes do fill fast, but I've gotten into all the ones I wanted by signing up for the waitlist. I'm very picky about music and I have enjoyed what they play and it's not too loud. And they make the effort to learn your name the first day, which impresses me given I can't remember a person's name to save my life. Con: I do not like the $10 late cancel fee. I think that is unnecessary given there seems to be a waitlist to get in most classes. I haven't yet experienced the no rollover issue yet so not sure how that works. read more

Citizen continues to be my go to studio! The class times are convenient for me and the intimate atmosphere makes it possible for personal attention and adjustments in the routine. I've been able to continue classes throughout my pregnancy which has been so beneficial! I always walk out feeling good and know I had a great workout. An awesome and convenient studio in the Heights and close to Montrose! The instructors are great and you'll be feeling sore the following day (in the best way possible!) The studio is clean and simple and classes are offered at a variety of times, which is a real bonus. Good for all levels and they even have a 101 class, definitely worth a shot if you're considering a new place for Pilates or just want to try it! read more

I'm not new to reformer pilates - I've tried different studios because I travel a lot. I was in Houston for a month so I decided to try out Citizen Pilates during my stay. I loved it! For the most part, I went once a day for the full month and was able to work with most of the instructors. My faves were Bailey and Stacey. If possible, I highly recommend signing up with different instructors because their teachings & styles of reformer fitness vary! I honestly thought they all did their job effectively and kicked my butt into shape, but Bailey and Stacey just fit my style the best. If you're hesitant, I say give them a try. Reformer pilates is a great way to tone and improve flexibility while keeping posture into consideration. My chiropractor loves the fact that pilates is my workout because it helps me hold my adjustments longer and I love how my stomach has FINALLY flattened since going to Citizens :) read more

Hands down the best Pilates studio in Houston! I love going to all 3 locations. It is the best part of my day and I am so glad to have found this fitness community when I moved to Houston a couple of months ago. The instructors are fun, challenging, and encouraging. Guaranteed to get a full body workout every time! read more

These classes have transformed into Covid friendly social distancing. The classes and equipment is super clean and you wear masks when working out. The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is great and the music is even better! I would highly recommend the 101 class if your starting out and the stretch class if you need that extra push :) read more

I've been coming the past couple of weeks and am now in love with this new-to-me workout. The location is convenient and parking is plentiful in their private lot. The classes are 45 minutes and go by quickly which is something I appreciate. The instructors have all been super friendly. They offer modifications and advanced options so you can control how challenging you want to make your class. The exercises have all left my core screaming - which is a good thing! Each class only has 7 spots which is great since you get the extra attention. The only downside is having to book classes in advanced. read more

I've been to several different studios Over the past few months to get a feel of where I want my home studio to be. However, Citizen Pilates is not it. What is this??? For Senior Citizens? My main issue is: It's lacking soooooo much energy! I feel so bored in these classes! The music is so low during the workout, and not good music might I add. Instead it just kind of seems like background noise that I wish they'd just turn off if they won't use a real personal playlist. The instructors are nice, but do not give clear instructions (I've experienced this a couple times). Andres was the worst in my opinion. I had to ask for clarity multiple times to figure out what we were doing since every one in the room was doing their own thing! I really don't think anyone had it until I got clarification! I haven't had Bailey (the person people keep talking about) but it's sad if she's the best person they have! The place is clean which is why I give 3 stars, nice instructors, and cool machine (nice variety of things to do on it), but the mood and lack of energy turns me off way too much... I most definitely prefer a place with more energy like Boost which is even a little further for me. I cancelled my membership after 2 workouts and just using up what I have. With this studio I regretted paying for the multiple sessions...before trying think about paying $30 for one class! It'll save you some money. I'd also like to add that none of the instructors introduced themselves or asked for my name not once. Not even a greeting upon entering...I've always been greeted at other studios. read more

Such a great workout every time. I rarely have back pain anymore and it's helped my golf game immensely. It's always clean, staff is courteous and the instructors are the best. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

Citizen Pilates is a great addition to my workout routine! I love the class offerings, and have become a huge fan of Chelsea's classes! You can tell they are a tight, uplifting community. I will definitely keep coming back. read more

I have wanted to try Citizen since they opened and finally got on ClassPass and started going this year. I never thought I'd like it this much! Each class has been a challenge and I've been able to feel it in my body for a couple of days, but it's never a debilitating level of soreness that makes me want to skip the next class. I book as many as I can, but they stay pretty busy so I'm constantly on my phone checking for any cancellations :) read more

The teachers and staff here are the friendliest people you've ever met! This is the space put all your problems aside and for 45 mins just focus on yourself and your body. I'm especially in love with the jumpboard classes to get your heart rate up and all over body workout. read more

Citizen Pilates is my daily reset from my never ending to do lists as a mother of three kids. It's where I've gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable by slowing down and breathing and moving with intention. The work I've invested on the Citizen reformer in the last few years have increased my strength and endurance as well as my agility and flexibility as a runner. Physical exercise outside of the home during a pandemic is scary and uncertain, but I've never felt scared or uncertain at Citizen. The sanitation sprays and one time use towels are thorough and effective. All of the staff and instructors wear masks at all times and masks are required on clients when they are off of the reformers. Citizen Pilates at all three locations are exceptionally clean and inclusive to all levels of fitness. read more

I have been coming to Citizen for a few years now. All the instructors are fantastic and give you multiple opportunities to ramp your workout up or down depending on your ability. They keep the studio around 68 degrees so you don't get sweaty and the class is only 45 minutes so it doesn't take a big chunk out of your day. Working out on the reformers feels great too - it makes you super stretchy. Highly recommend! read more

This is one of my favorite Pilates classes to go to. It's a challenging class for all levels and not to complicated on the reformer. It was an all over workout that also targeted my abs and obliques which I loved! I like that this class wasn't to big which felt like the instructor was more attentive. I recommend this place! read more
