I have never been one to sign up for a gym membership or join group workout classes, but I reluctantly tried Pure Barre Cherry Creek and have now been going regularly for months. There are a variety of classes and times they are offered, so it is easy to find times that work with whatever schedule you have. The trainers are devoted, kind and helpful. It is great that every class is attended by people of all ages and fitness levels and that each class covers all muscle groups. I came to check out their classes and was so disgusted that the staff behind the desk at the front was not wearing a mask that I decided to get back in my car and write this review. I don't understand as a business why you would be putting others lives at risk in the middle of a global pandemic. Yes! I bought a groupon to try out a few classes here to see what it was all about and am so happy that I did. As someone who has often struggled to tone their legs- this has been amazing journey. I love pure barre and I love the energy in the room. Cherry Creek has great parking around this studio and the classes are usually packed. You are guaranteed to get a great workout here! I have been to classes with four different instructors and have gotten a great work out with all of them, though I have found that my level of enjoyment and engagement varies greatly by instructor. I love classes with Sway but have gone to two classes in a row where I specifically went for her class and there was a sub. Every workout follows the same Pure Barre formula. During my first two classes, I felt a little out of place and lost because I didn't know the routine like everyone else did but I quickly learned what some of the terminology meant and what came next. I have not found this to be a particularly welcoming studio. Everyone is nice enough but not overly friendly and I have never once had someone try to get to know me as an individual (I have had several lingering questions after classes that I have never had a chance to ask). I have historically hated working out, I could never bother with anything besides skiing, until now. I tried Pure Barre thanks to a friend, even though I had take a different barre class that nearly put me to sleep. Pure Barre is AMAZIBG!! I love the music, I started seeing results after only 4 weeks and have totally transformed my body. I did the COVID-15 in reverse, seriously lost 20lbs and look like my 20 year old self again. I have never had any workout be so fast or effective ever! It's amazing! Plus I have been so impressed with the professionalism and cleanliness of the studios and how safe I feel working out even during the pandemic, it has been a LIFE SAVER during these tough times. Just walked out of my first Pure Barre class and all I can think is "What the eff just happened?" Now I'm no barre expert, but I will say this: not all barre classes are created equal. I'll start off my saying that Pure Barre's studio situation is not my favorite. The fluorescent lights are less than flattering, and I kind of can't get over the carpet. Carpet and socks feel super foreign to me in a boutique workout class like this, but perhaps it's something I'd get use to as I attended more. There's one restroom that opens up directly into the class studio, plus a few shelves to throw your keys and jacket. This class started out FAST and did not slow down. When I say fast, I mean everything from the "dunce dunce" house music to the instructions. The instructions, in fact, made very little sense to me--I just sort looked around and ran with it. Many of the moves are what I'm used to in a barre class--lots of small, continuous pulses until you start to shake and want to either stop or die or both. In that sense, I think it was a good workout, emphasis on the "think." I really have no idea whether or not I was doing half of the moves correctly, so I might've just spent an hour awkwardly humping the air. A few highlights from my experience: the gal at the front desk had a release form ready with my name on it (it felt very VIP). Leilani, my instructor, was pretty nice and corrected me when she could, despite the 100 mile per hour pace of this class. There's a parking lot out front and it's super close to Whole Foods, so you can totally round out your fancy Cherry Creek workout experience with an expensive juice. I prefer to leave my workouts with confidence and not confusion, although maybe I'll wake up tomorrow with a rockin booty that will totally change my tune. I do love the workouts here. I've been to a bunch of different studios and this style is one of my favorites. It is a little hard to catch on the first class (sometimes they have "foundations" class for beginners but not often). I felt overwhelmed my first time but caught on. It is a fast paced class. Also, I have classical ballet training and sometimes I find a few exercises tough as they are only based on ballet and not exact. For example, I have a hard time not doing a turn out or keeping my knees bent etc. The parking is free and ample. The classes are expensive, out of my price range unless using Groupon or ClassPass. You are required to wear grippy socks and some people end up getting stuck with the $20 cost to buy a pair in store (I found mine on amazon - 2 for $10 ish). The classes are usually pretty full. There is only one bathroom with a line so I recommend going before arriving. Plenty of cubby space and there is a changing room aside from the bathroom. read more

I am so bummed to write this review. I thought Pure Barre was going to be amazing. I am a former dancer and barre was my favorite part of class. Incredible strengthening. Some girlfriends and I bought the Groupon and went to try it on our lunch break. Now, it could have been because it was noon on a weekday but the class was full of ladies... well let's say I felt out of place being there on my lunch break from work. One thing I love about Yoga is the lack of judging. I feel like those yoga classes are so hard and so focused on the internal that I can't even see the people around me much less worry about their practice. At Pure Barre I felt super judged. Did I have the right brand of clothing? Etc. Anyway, after a VERY SLOW check in process that let me feeling breathless and late for the class I got changed and onto the carpet. Yes, I also feel carpet is weird. Every dance class, every yoga class, everything has been on marley or hardwood, etc. I felt kinda grossed out about the carpet. So we get going into the pure barreness. There was virtually NO instruction! "Okay ladies, wrap that strap around the barre, one leg up and tuck and tuck and tuck..." Uh... tuck what? Do where? I am a fast picker upper... and this instructor didn't slow down for a second. Yes, keep heart rate up... but I have NO idea how! Perhaps there needs to be a designated beginner class like many yoga studios have... like a PB 1. Intro class? Come on, I need directions. I am a former dancer, tell me what muscles to tuck where and I can do it. But even I was confused, not to mention my co-worker who had no idea. The burn is hot and I like work that pushes muscles to failure but I just felt like a failure in this class. The teach was a doll and she worked with us after class but our lunch hour was up and we had to run back to work. I think this workout has such potential, it just needs some structure. Warn beginners that they might want to take the weekly intro class to learn what muscles to work into. Overall, this would have sent me running if I didn't have a groupon. read more

I suck at working out. No, literally, I can't even get into a down dog without extreme amounts of focus. With this being said, I was more than a little nervous when I walked into Pure Barre with one of my girlfriends yesterday. Not knowing what to expect, I donned my yoga pants, threw my hair back, and jumped right in. Our instructor, Lacey, was great. She really took the time to make sure that my form was correct and I loved the words of encouragement that she offered to everyone throughout the class. Some facts about Pure Barre: 1.) You will slide around like a loser without the sticky socks (I will remember this next time!) 2.) You will sweat, a lot. 3.) You will shake, a lot. 4.) You may or may not have any idea of what you are doing, but will quickly pick it up. 5.) You will feel great after and will not be able to wait to get back ASAP! read more

Pure Barre provides an intense, incredible workout. Do not be fooled by the lean, lithe instructors - their bodies are pure and ferocious muscle. After a few classes, you'll understand where they get it. You do not need any dance background to succeed in a pure barre class. The structured exercises rely heavily on isometric movements, and a single class will address your arms, legs, core and rear, in addition to overall flexibility. During my first few classes I watched the instructors (there's always one instructor leading the class and usually 1 or 2 other instructors working out with the class) and by class three or four I started to recognize the rhythm and structure of each exercise. I've done my share of cardio, yoga, pilates, swimming, skiing and running, so let it be said that I was no exercise newbie when I signed up for pure barre. Having said that, I am continually amazed how the pure barre regimen is reshaping and strengthening my body. I'm usually dripping in sweat at the end of a class. The Cherry Creek Pure Barre location is very convenient. You can zip in and out on Speer Ave. or University Ave. without getting caught in the Cherry Creek traffic. There is free and plentiful parking in the garage beneath the studio. Now remember, it's Cherry Creek. Be prepared for a solid dose of Lululemon, Louis Vuitton totes and trophy diamonds. Frankly, I couldn't care less. I've never felt judged in class, and I am always pleased to see a variety of body types in class (and the occasional man!) On that note, be prepared to fall in love with at least a few instructors. Each instructor has her own style, favorite exercises and mood inside the studio. Of the many instructors I've taken classes with, they are all friendly, helpful, motivating, encouraging and obviously lovely people. Disclaimer: I hate working out. I used to be a dancer and the benefit of that is getting a great workout without FEELING like you're working out. So it has to be pretty darn fantastic/sneaky for me to a) stick with it, and b) actually like it. During and after my first class I thought I was going to die. I didn't think I was in terrible shape, but MAN - this is by far the hardest workout I've ever done. I just completed my tenth class today, and I can feel things starting to change. The teachers are all very nice and extremely helpful, and I've met some really great people in my classes. I absolutely believe Pure Barre's claim that it's the fastest way to change your body, and I can't wait to see my results! Highly recommended. UPDATE: One year and 150+ classes later, I still love it! I feel so much stronger and I've seen the most improvement in my arms (and actually get complimented on them frequently). Even though the classes are very fast paced compared to other barre classes I have done, the instructors learn your name and help individually to make corrections. Pure Barre is absolutely amazing! I began doing it about 6 months ago, and I seriously love it more and more each time. Every single instructor is energetic, supportive, and sincere, I have yet to find one that I didn't like. As someone who tends to like to stick strictly to cardio, I feel great going to PB, as it helps with those trouble areas; butt, abs, and thighs. No joke, every single time it hurts like crazy, but I have yet to leave a class where I haven't felt invigorated and excited. I cannot recommend it enough!!!! read more

I am over 60, overweight, totally out of shape, and when I walked into my first class at Pure Barre, I had a moment of pure terror. Everyone else in the room was younger, and every single person there was in amazing shape. I felt like the elephant in the room, literally! I am so glad I did not leave that day. The class was hard for me, there were many things I could not do, and it was not always easy figuring out what they were doing. I was embarrassed to be beet red, sweat pouring out of me, ect. when most of the women there were at such a different level. But when the class was over, I felt fantastic! The next day my body did not hurt even though I could feel muscles I didn't remember having. I am not sure exactly when I gave up on being delighted to be strong and vibrant physically, but taking that class, although I could barely do it, reminded me in a big way that I can feel better than I do and that I want to! I signed up for the unlimited month, and have gone as often as I can. I still can't do much of what the rest of the class is able to, but I am stronger and feel more amazing every day. The exercises are starting to make sense to me, and Lindsey, the owner, explained that everyone there is working hard at their own edge. She, and several of the teachers have helped me modify and adjust the exercises to the level that I am at right now. I've recieved alot of personal attention and support including from some of the "perfect" other students who I was sure were making terrible judgements about me. The kindness and support makes it easier to keep stepping up to the challange of each class, and I now realize everyone is so focused on their own progress, they don't really care what anyone else is doing. I am so happy to have Pure Barre in my life now. It is expensive, but not when I consider all the health problems that I am not going to have to pay for later, and not when I consider how wonderful and empowered I feel each time I go. It is the best investment of an hour that I make in the whole day! Priceless! read more

I learned about Pure Barre from a fellow yogi and thought, "Heck Yes!" I had owned a DVD "The Bar Method" years ago, and loved the idea of toning muscle this way. Similar to Pilates, which I love, to isolate the muscle and create a lean tone, vs a more bulky muscle. Yet....I was unimpressed. I enjoyed the feeling the work-out itself left me with, and as I've read in other reviews, I felt everyone I dealt with was super friendly and helpful. It's simply the atmosphere that is causing me to back pedal. I can hurt just as badly the next day from a great yoga class or pilates time, but I FEEL better while doing it. I didn't love the music choices, but as long as a beat was present, it kept me motivated. My biggest gripe: The method of instruction. Too fast to get accurate understanding of each of the movements. I would love to join a 'beginner' course over a couple weeks if they offered it. This way, I would feel I was really getting my money (and time, and suffering's) worth. If I could give it another 1/2 star, I would. As I feel this is a great workout for women in general, and it truly does target every spot you wish you knew how to get to but can't. It's challenging and up-beat. But I prefer that my instructor does not holler over a wireless mic and that there were more time dedicated to doing this routine correctly. read more

This really wasn't for me. I signed up with Classpass, and although the instructor asked if there was anyone new in the class, there certainly wasn't any attention paid to instruction after that. I was confused about what I was supposed to be doing, and I'm no stranger to barre, yoga, dance or Pilates. I also found the environment unfriendly and pretentious. The instructor (Abby) actually did a different routine than the last one, so maybe the classes change based on what the instructor feels like teaching. She did a good job of explaining the moves and what you needed to do to work yourself to the fullest. This class was JUST as hard as the first one, but was less crowded, which I liked. Maybe I'm being harsh with the two stars--I should probably rate not only the class, but the service. So, I will start off by saying that all the employees, the girl who checked me in at the desk, the instructors....everyone who worked there, was quite helpful and friendly. However, the class was....strange. It was like a mix of ballet and yoga in a room with CARPET, which I thought an odd flooring choice. The class was not very challenging and the instructions (and maybe this is because it was my first time) very confusing, so I spent most of the time looking around at other people so I could try to find out what to do. At the end, I noticed most people didn't even work up a sweat, which is probably fortunate because the place was crammed full of women who wore makeup to a "cardio" class...the logic behind that move beats me. Anyway, it's $23.00 for a drop-in class, and I feel that is way too expensive when I could do yoga or even a real ballet class, which actually makes me feel like I've had a solid workout, for less. read more

This PB addict was happy to fit in a class during a recent work trip. Despite my unfamiliarity with the area, Siri/I were able to find this studio easily. There was convenient, free parking within the small strip mall. Though I arrived later than planned (but prior to class start time), the staff was super nice in getting me checked in (note - earlier that day, I paid for class through MindBody Connect app). Despite that I save money with my hometown studio's membership, it's worth paying the drop-in fee at 'new-to-me' studios. My hometown studio is less than 6-months old so I love checking out the "experienced" studios. Lacey's class is popular and it's evident by her fun personality and non-pushy, clear instructing. Though super tough, I liked the "new" moves including the plank/core work with weights and the burning thigh and seat work with rubber tubes. Despite their advanced techniques/moves, brand new clients should not get discouraged; everyone is welcome to modify their work and the instructor will nicely help out with form corrections. Though I was here just 5 days ago, it was a NICE surprise to receive a Thank You card from the studio today. I will definitely return during future Denver trips! read more

I have been tracking Pure barre for a couple of months. As their website is generally pretty uninformative (no prices listed), I thought I would swing by to have my questions answered in person. I snapped up their recent Groupon and went by on Wednesday morning for a class. Sadly, I was unable to actually participate as I was improperly equipped. Apparently one has to don socks in order to sweat, a detail I was not aware of. I was reassure that an average looking pair of black bobby socks with the pure barre logo can be purchased for a mere $12.87 (with tax). Call me crazy, but I found this to be insulting. No where on the website does it say to bring socks! And I'm certainly not going to spend 13 bucks on them. According to the woman behind the desk, the sock requirement WAS mentioned on the Groupon (it's true, on-line, it does say so). Since I printed it out though, I did not revisit the details of the on-line special. Much to my despair. I am so bummed. I wanted so badly to go to this class. And though I have a bad taste in my mouth, I will give them another shot. I'm dying to find out what this workout is all about. And, I do still have the Groupon after all. read more

3 hours later and I am still feeling so good about the class this morning at Pure Barre Cherry Creek. I was definitely nervous as I walked in, everyone was in such good shape and so bendy (yes, that has to be a word!). I shrugged off my hesitation and told myself that everyone has to start somewhere. The instructor, Mel was so amazing, she saw me struggling and immediately gave me some one on one pointers. She also acknowledged me when I was actually doing something right as well, which I made me feel that much more confident in my ability to picking up what she was instructing! Chesney and Mel were great after class, very friendly and welcoming. I have read so many reviews and articles on how this can change your body, so I am headed back for as many classes as possible. I signed up for the 1 month introductory rate and intend to hit as many days as possible. You should definitely check this workout out! One note, the floor is carpet?? Soooo, wear socks with grip so you don't slide all over the place and you can focus on your core not on sliding while in an attempted plank position! read more

I learned about Pure Barre via Groupon and thought "pilates, yoga, and ballet? This is for me!" I did some research about the founder and the owner of the local studio, though it was pretty cryptic, they are very worried about you stealing their proprietary moves and make you sign a contract when you take you first class. The online registration system is a bit difficult to navigate and doesn't do the job, there are way too many people in the room. The first class was CROWDED, the second I attended was slightly less so, but considering the $23 drop-in fee, classes should be 15 or less and you should get some personal training. I was frustrated when I didn't have enough room to properly stretch. As far as customer service, it could use a little work. The times I have called I have only gotten voicemail. I sent an e-mail regarding my position on the waitlist and never received a response. I did receive an automated response that I was moved from the waitlist to the class, but I didn't receive this until 45 minutes prior to the class start, which might work for some folks, but was a "no-go" for me. Luckily you can cancel your registration online, too. The exercises were often confusing, it was hard to know if I was doing them correctly, though I did experience some muscle fatigue during class and soreness the next day. I enjoyed it, but would never pay that kind of money for the environment. I am thinking about purchasing one of the DVD's and adding it to my home workout routine. read more

I am new to this location but not to the Pure Barre family, and when I say family I mean family. The women who work here whether at the front desk or instructing a class are so incredibly welcoming, friendly and make an effort to get to know your name and who you are. The facility is always clean and they make it very comfortable for clients trying out a class for the first time or returning to their 100th class. They genuinely want to make sure you're getting the most out of your workout and are very helpful when you have questions about a class or a position. I would highly recommend not only Pure Barre as your workout of choice but the Cherry Creek location as your home studio. Lift. Tone. Burn! read more
