Jen the owner is a scammer and it doesn't shock me to hear this studio is closing. When I reached out for private Pilates classes, Jen reassured that they work with my weird on call schedule. Well due to weather and things coming up on call, I was unable to make it into the studio. I reached out to Jen before my classes expired (which surprised me, no one told me the classes expired in 3 months but usually it's a year everywhere else). They still offer the package I got for private Pilates so it wasn't like a special promo they were running... Jen said it was no problem and she would schedule me for my last 2 classes- then radio silence lol. I've sent emails to her, called and left a voicemail, no one ever answers the phone so like I said, not surprised they are closing but it's not a huge loss, plenty of other studios in Denver. I guess what bothered me the most is Jen makes up rules as she goes and doesn't keep her word and tells you what you want to hear to get your money. Oh well, $200 for 1 private Pilates class lol. I've been going to Ph7 for almost a year now, doing private sessions with Amanda as well as classes with Erin, Jennifer, Katie, and Carrie. This is a small-ish studio, with classic and Cadillac reformers, plus they offer mat pilates with "the barrel" also. I enjoy a classic reformer session and am always happy to work in some jump board if it's being offered. The most important thing is stretching out my back and strengthening the core. It helps with posture and overall toning. While I'm not the most fit in the group, I can keep up with the intermediate students. Gentle. Dropped in for a $20 "gentle reformer pilates" class. It was my first time. It was very "gentle" according to my friend who goes a couple times a week. Instructor was a few minutes late but very kind and I think went a few minutes after to make up for it. Space was cute. It's located upstairs and only 4 reformer machines so a small class. Not recommended if you are wanting a lot of cardio. But it was a nice gentle stretch. read more

I have literally been to hundreds of workout classes of every kind- this year I decided I was only going to do things "I enjoyed". That meant no more HIIT classes or spinning etc because I actually hated doing them. Instead, yoga, pilates, and barre. I came to pH7 Pilates via a screaming Living Social deal for 3 mat and 2 reformer classes. Having only practiced Pilates in my living room with a DVD, I was a bit intimated at the thought of keeping up with a class full of regulars. My fears were quickly assuaged when I met my first instructor, Kim. She was warm and welcoming and so helpful during the class as we came to the positions I didn't know. After that first class, I was ready for more! My other mat class instructor was the sweet and encouraging Kebi. My 2 reformer classes were taught by Jen. The reformer can be a challenge but Jen is very patient and eager to assist you in performing the exercises correctly. Class sizes are small so you get lots of personalized attention. Overall, my first experience at a Pilates studio was quite a positive one. Despite the quirks of being in a old building, the studio has a great energy that's upbeat and relaxing at the same time. The instructors are encouraging and focused on helping you reach your fitness goals. Conveniently, you can schedule classes online and there is a parking lot behind the building. I love love love pH7! The studio is beautiful and well suited for the classes offered there. But the main reason I come back every week (multiple times!) is the instructors. I have my favorites who make me feel like part of their fit and fabulous community, and also motivate me to work hard while treating my body well. Even the instructors I've had once or twice are wonderful and seem like they fit the pH7 vibe, while maintaining their own style. I took my first Pilates class at pH7 and they helped me learn the basics with hands-on adjustments, visual demonstrations and constructive feedback. I've taken classes at several other studios both in Denver and other cities and find pH7 to be the best fit for me. I've also noticed most everyone attending the classes are regulars which I think speaks volumes to how well they take care of their clients. I also love their location in the Highlands but go to Madison Street most of the time cuz it's closer to my house. If only I could quit my job and just take pH7 classes everyday.... :) read more

Joseph Pilates never had a sex change. While it remains a popular misconception that Pilates is exclusively for women, its inventor was, in fact, a man. Not any mere man either, Pilates was a boxer, a circus performer and a self-defense trainer. He could've probably kicked most of our @$$-es if he'd wanted to. Thankfully, his boxing opponents' @$$-es were the only ones he wanted to kick in the literal sense. His Pilates students? Their @$$-es only got kicked in the anaerobic sense. And so can yours (in a good way). Not by its inventor, mind you (Pilates passed away in 1967), but by any number of his living disciples. Denver's own Cher Aslor, of Capital Hill's pH7 Pilates, is among them. Aslor is a true gem. If Joseph Pilates were alive today, he'd surely be venerated by her obvious commitment to the discipline that bears his surname. Aslor wasn't always a Pilates student, though. Dance was her first love. Ballet, jazz and modern classes occupied her adolescence. After majoring in movement in the People's Republic (CU Boulder), Aslor was awarded a scholarship to Tremaine Dance Center in LA. Her @$$ was paid to wiggle for years as a professional dancer, landing gigs in music videos and even an Austin Powers flick. Once her girlfriend Gin introduced her to Pilates, though, she was hooked instantly. LA's Whole Body would eventually facilitate her official certification. Just a heads-up that Ph7 has moved - their Capitol Hill studio is now in Congress Park at 1162 Madison St., in a new space with great windows. More substantively, I love my instructor there (Jen) - she gets to know everyone who attends her many classes, and keeps class fresh and interesting. I also love their website, it makes paying and scheduling extremely simple and you even get a reminder email before class. Prices are reasonable compared to other studios I looked at, especially with a package deal. The only downside I can think of is that classes tend to fill up pretty well in advance due to the popularity of the studio, although I bet that is less true if you can go during normal business hours instead of only to weeknight slots. read more

Beautiful studio! Very knowledgeable and super-friendly staff. Privates with Jen have been great, Wednesday night chair class with Jael (sp?) are very challenging and worth every minute. Only complaint... not a lot of options in class times. If a group class only has one participant, it gets cancelled or you get asked to move into a totally different class. I have FINALLY found my studio! So background on me - I have major back issues and was told that I'd probably have to have surgery to fix them (and I'm only 30!). After my PT suggested I give pilates a try, I tried several studios around town. All had their strengths and weaknesses, but they just weren't the right fit for me. I tried a class at PH7 and immediately saw the difference. The instructors are SO knowledgeable, friendly, and hands-on. This is not a 'follow the script and blast music' kind of place. They watch and listen to their students needs while making sure you get the most out of every class. A lot of students also have some type of injury/recovery and the instructors will adjust for your needs. They have a wide variety of classes and equipment, so you can get whatever you're looking for. Kit's Combo class is fun and get's your heart rate up, and the Abs and Butt class will seriously have you feeling that burn! Their private sessions are also great for beginners or if you want that personal experience. I've been a regular now for a year and not only do I love it, but it's completely saved my back! read more

Sorry, not a fan. I bought a Groupon a couple years back for 5 classes here because my physical therapist recommended Pilates after my car accident. They only honored two of the classes, and were very snotty about their policies regarding the rest. I understand needing reservations because equipment and space is limited, but they were ridiculous. Extremely inflexible, kind of ironic. I just kind of felt sorry for the instructors because they seemed like they were doing their best in a harsh environment. read more

Ph7 Pilates rocks! I've visited many studios here and in other cities, but I love Ph7 the most. All the instructors are classically trained, but draw on their diverse backgrounds in dance and yoga to infuse their classes with their individual personalities. Both studios offer a range of classes from beginner to advanced, as well as pre-natal. In every class I have taken, my teacher adapted the class for every student attending. Each of us was supported yet challenged at our own level - a difficult balance to strike. I started at the old Capital Hill studio which was funky and fun, but the new studio in Congress Park is simply beautiful. It is spacious with soaring ceilings and beautiful views and has space for reformer, chair, and mat classes. Even here at the larger studio, classes still stay limited to six on equipment. They have also expanded into the retail realm, selling adorable pilates/yoga clothes, mat bags, locally made jewelry and body products. The location is great as well. It's on a quaint corner with cool shops, a number of restaurants/bakeries, and a music school. Having two locations to choose from is also convenient and rare. The studios are distinctive, and have their own unique perks. The Highlands Studio is very intimate and opererates as part of a collective, offerring of course pilates, massage, rolfing, acupuncture and more. Equipment classes here accomodate 4 people which ensures that every class, even a full one, stays client focused and tailored to you. I've found that is one thing that makes Pilates special. For the same price barre workouts cram thirty people in a room where you can't possibly get much individualized attention. Pretty good studio and instructors.

If six stars (or ten) were available, that's what I would give this Capital Hill Pilates studio. As a client for 5 years and counting I can say that PH7 Pilates owner Cher Aslor and her caring/well-trained instructors have been gamechangers for me. Before starting Pilates instruction with Cher I lved with many years of chronic back pain due to an accident and resulting surgery. I was on the path to a second surgey when both my Dr. and a friend said "you should try Pilates". I avoided the surgery and my back, along with the rest of my body, continue to get stronger. But be cautioned, not all Pilates studios are alike. Cher and her instructors continue to educate themselves on my behalf and the behalf of other clients. They are never satisfied with the status quo. They understand anatomy and how to communicate subtle but important aspects of Pilates training. It amazes me how much they care about my body and how they know exactly what I need to get stronger. Oh...and did I mention that we also have fun? I look forward to every session and intend to continue my work with PH7 Pilates for as long as possible. read more
