So I had to explain to to him what my Heat pump system was again which was not a variable speed as he figured but it is a 2 speed Trane 18. And I said I wanted to know what the furnace would cost (and the model number) and what the gas line would cost and what the air cleaner would cost separately broken down. He said his boss wouldn't do that. Well I never heard of such a thing. I've never dealt with people who won't tell you individual costs. That's wrong. You don't just bunch it up all together and say this is your deal. Every other HVAC company I have dealt with for this expensive 5 figure job has broken it all down and explained what the gas line would cost ...what the furnace would cost....and what the air cleaner would cost and a gas exhaust and intake and what my Mothers furnace would cost. So I found another company who has been very nice and professional and were more than willing to break all costs down like professionals and they are getting the job. I became suspicious of the aging inducer motor as it was loud and, suddenly one cold day, we were no longer getting heat and the red-green LED indicator lights on the furnace were flashing a code for service. For HVAC service, there are many providers in our area, but we went with one based on a recommendation of a family we know--we chose to try P&P Heating and Cooling Service. Scheduling was easy with great help from office manager, Stephanie, and we met Daren as he arrived, right on time, to help us out. Within a few minutes, he confirmed the diagnosis of a bad inducer and left to get one from his warehouse. A few minutes later, Daren called me and told me great news: he had the exact motor needed for my furnace (so we didn't have to wait for an ordered motor) and, in the meantime, he contacted American Standard directly for us and had the new motor covered under our American Standard warranty! He went above-and-beyond, in our minds, by doing this for us. I sincerely feel that Daren treated us with the same honest care--including checking the warranty coverage--that he would provide for himself or his own family. Furnace is approx 66,000 btu for a two story 2000 plus home. Other company's have said the furnace is dangerous because it was not installed correctly and needs to be at least 118,000 btu. Wont heat home above 60 degrees when it is below 20 degrees, then it runs constantly. Took them approx 1 year to order a furnace part and install it when it was readily available. Furnace stopped running when it was -6 degrees. The service tech refused to come out because I told him about all the problems. He talked down to me and was extremely disrespectful.
