We were having issues with water not draining properly and actually backing up back through drains. It was 11:00 on a Saturday morning, so we were worried about 1) could they work us into their schedule and 2) how much extra would it be for weekend/emergency service. We were told they would get to us, but it would be a couple of hours as there were a few jobs already ahead of us. They arrived in what we considered a very timely fashion, especially on a Saturday afternoon. They listened to what I explained as the issue, observed the clean out, and knew exactly what to do. They ran the auger approximately 100 feet and you could hear it breaking through the tree roots. Upon retracting the auger, the roots were very evident on the cable and the claw. The service guy was very friendly and explained what he was doing through the whole process. He was extremely willing to answer all my questions. We were expecting to pay $500-$600 for this kind of service on a weekend. I was very pleasantly surprised when he said it was $305. They were very responsive, friendly, and efficient. We had to pay the overtime premium since we needed them on a Sunday but it wasn't exorbitant and the service was well worth the cost. They don't do regular plumbing, they only do sewer and drain service, but I would use them again anytime I needed them. read more

They were called out and didn't do anything. After calling the admin said they'd talk to the owner about waiving the charge. We got no follow up until we were sent to collections magically. Lucas the owner is a pleasure to speak to and is very informative and courteous. He followed up with me after there was some confusion on what we actually needed to get our sewer pipe cleaned (a proper clean-out valve). Fortunately, the plumbing company found one on the exterior of our home, so we were able to get lightning quick service once I called back to request a clean-out of our sewer line, which hadn't been treated in a long time. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the day after the service, I went to go rearrange the rocks around the clean-out valve and had to pick up a whole bunch of debris (old tampons) they pulled from the line and left on the rocks by the driveway. It's odd to me that they didn't take the extra five minutes to do a survey of the small area and clean it up, or at least tell me that I would have to do this. 2022 Update: Will not use this company again. Had to leave messages over several days to get someone to come out. They showed up late to try to clear the main line and scope it. Told me to sign the paperwork (normal, been doing it for years) and THEN told me they could come back when the line was fixed?? They told me they couldn't clear it and all that was needed was a signature. They did NOT tell my they would charge me over $300. They didn't tell me they couldn't clear the line, they ran a locator (didn't ask for) and charged me for it, and then didn't even scope it like I asked. I wish I could give this place zero stars! I literally had human feces pumping into my backyard. I called them and they said a technician would call us and get back to us as soon as possible. 4 hours later, I called back and they said the same thing again. 8 hours later, nothing. 10 hours later, nothing. After 12 hours I realized that they weren't coming and they were not even professional enough to call us and let us know. This is the worst customer service I have ever had to partially deal with. Our landlord called them because our bathtub was draining slowly. Not only did they not fix it, they actually broke it more. They left a piece of metal in the drain and the trap was damaged so badly that in a few hours water started coming down into the ceiling below the tub to the point where there was literally a hole in the ceiling beneath the drain. Our basement drain started backing up with every load of clothes we washed. We called several places on Friday, November 22. Since this was the day after Thanksgiving, holiday rates were being quoted. We called Schoonover who couldn't come out until Monday morning but explained the process and their rates over the phone. Fast forward to Monday- they were on time, efficient and 10 times more reasonable than the others we called on Friday for a Monday service. They were in and out in less than 20 minutes. The problem was fixed with suggestions given as to how to prevent the issue from happening again. They did not try to sign us up for a monthly contract or look for "other" problems. After calling Schoonover and setting up an appointment to have my sewer line cleaned out they arrived a half hour late to start work. in less than 30 minutes the guy had his line stuck on some roots. He spent the next 75 minutes trying to get it unstuck and eventually gave up and left with my line still clogged saying I needed to have the line dug up and replaced and he recommended me to one of his friends. Because this sounded shady I had another plumber who I knew come in from out of town and he had the line clear in 30 min. This wasn't the worst part. There was a standard charge of $110 for the line clearing, however there was an additional $150 charge for the job taking longer than 75 minutes. It was clear this job shouldn't have taken this long and when the other guy got his line stuck he stayed just long enough to give me this extra charge and then cut his line and left. After arguing with them for 20 min on the phone about this charge not being my fault his cutter got stuck he refused to reduce the bill because there were roots in the line. No kidding - that is the point of using a cutter and why I called. They didn't do the job I called them for and would not budge on charging me over $130/hour for it. I'm an engineer - maybe I should have been a plumber so I could make that kind of money - oh wait I don't think I could live with the guilt... read more

I had a leak in my main water line - I called Roto Rooter to come out and look a it. Instead of looking at the job I called them for, the guy decides to scope my sewer line (it was free so I figured oh what the hell I'll let him). He proceeds to tell me there are roots in the line and it needs replacing. So they tried to do a quote for both jobs which was almost $8k!!! I panicked and called an excavator to get a quote on the digging/sewer line replacement and he said not to bother - he said to call Schoonover first. He said they will run their blades through and let me know at that point what the situation is - if they cannot get the blades through then the line would need replacing he said. Schoonover came out the next morning after I called - on time. Did the work in 30 minutes. Cleaned up and left. The blades went through so easy - they wrote that there was little to not root problems in the line...guess it didn't need replacing after all, Roto Rooter... Schoonover's guys told me that roots in the line (especially at the joints) is normal. It just requires annual maintenance to keep the line clear. Thanks to Schoonover for helping me avoid a heart attack and an $8k bill. Worth the $175 to call them out for an hour. read more

Great company! I had a piece of glass and a scrub pad stuck in my garbage disposal and it stopped working. Even though it was a somewhat simple problem, it was something I couldn't tackle. Schoonover was really good about accommodating my schedule and my plumber was even early to the appointment. He was in and out within 10 minutes and took care of the problem. I described our drain problem over the phone and was told that they would need to look at it. They didn't say what their fee to look at it was or that they charge an extra fee of $40 to drive from Mahomet to Farmer City. When they came out they did a quick walk around our property and talked to me for five minutes and said they didn't think they could help and gave me a name of someone else. I received the bill today in an UNSEALED envelope for $85 for five minutes and they couldn't even write the name and number of the person recommended on the bill. read more
