Initial quote was for $510 to retrofit a lid and replace the two older check valve's. This price is with me purchasing both the lid and check valves ($110). So I was expecting to spend approximately $620 to get this job done. The first appointment they replaced the check valves and told me the lid I bought (I bought two different sized lids) wouldn't work. They told my wife we needed a 19 inch lid. Charged $244 for that visit and work. I bought a new lid and called them out again. The lid also doesn't work and my wife tells them to just install it, which I acknowledge she shouldn't have done. There was also a copper line that was plumbed in so out of plumb I'm actually surprised it was left like that. Lastly I was charged an additional $466 for this second visit. So I'm out of pocket approximately $830 (including the $110 I spent on parts) for a job I believe was poorly done. I let the point of contact know I wasn't happy with the work done and he said he stands by their work.

It's basically the same, except we get discounts on repairs. It is well worth it to keep your HVAC running in tip top shape. Today I called around 10a and was able to get someone out at 1p the same day. Ron came over to clean/inspect our AC unit. He was on time, very friendly, and knowledgeable. He did not try and tell me I need something changed on my AC, unlike other companies have told me. I now know my AC will be humming right through these hot and humid Illinois summers. You don't think about how important your plumbing is until it doesn't work…read more Aaron and his team came out and did a fairly large project for us which involved tearing out our entire sewer line and replacing it. The project went very smoothly given the age of our house and a few obstacles that presented themselves along the way. Their whole staff was very patient as I asked an enormous amount of questions. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter for small or large jobs. They gave me a free estimate for the work, showed up when they said they would, followed through with quality work, and at the end I paid the amount we agreed upon.

This left a good first impression, and we proceeded with a recommended camera inspection which revealed damage to a sewer lateral that needed repairs. Naturally, we agreed to have them promptly fix the issue and gladly paid a deposit on the work (to start the following day at the latest). When Mr. Rooter failed to return to our home over the following two days (while we did not have working plumbing)! we called to cancel the work and hired another vendor (who promptly completed the repair for us). This occurred in November 2025 and we still have not received a refund for the deposit (thousands of dollars) as of April 2026 despite repeated written and phone requests. If you do decide to work with this company, please avoid giving them a deposit/down payment until you are satisfied with a completed job. The gentleman who showed up late in the evening for the emergency call really helped us out, but that's not enough to make up for the subsequent failures and dishonesty.

Update to November 20 review November 21, 2025…read moreToday I was contacted by Brandon at Mike Williams who said they wanted to make things right. He asked me what I thought was a fair price for the service and I named an amount that was in line with the typical prices I found during my internet searches. Without argument he agreed immediately and refunded me everything over that amount. A very substantial refund. Brandon was very nice and very helpful. It took a while and a lot of effort to reach the right person but Mike Williams made things right.
