Don't be scammed, look for another company that gives you a fair price for an honest job This is the worst pluming company I have dealt with in my 30+ years of living in the Champaign, Urbana area. I called this company for a water leak in a bathroom. They send their Bloomington plumber who came in late with no moisture sensor. His suggestion was for me to tear the floor and find the source of the leak. So I did that and found that the source of the leak is a pinhole in a copper pipe in a very easy to reach area. I called to have the same guy come in and fix the leak. He looked at the problem, then went to his truck for nearly 30 minutes to come up with the cost of the repair. To my horror, his estimate for installing two 1.0 ft pieces of copper pipe 1/2" and ¾", four joints, and a T fittings was $1,536.00 (see the invoice). Yes, one thousand five hundred and thirty six dollars. The job would have taken an honest plumber about one hour. Total cost of the parts at a local hardware store is less than $30.00. The first visit and the work were done during week days at normal work hours. His response to this ridiculous charge is "in a real world this is a very high charge." My recommendation to any of you not to call this company. What they will tell you is they charge $99.00 to send someone to look and the problem, but they charge by the job not by the hour. In my case, it would have taken about an hour to do the job, but that did not count since their motto is to rob you during daylight and much more at off hours. Also, do not fall for their membership fee scheme that gives you a discount. My job would still have cost $1,230.00. I am submitting this review on their website as well that claims a five star reviews. I am certain they will not publish it and very likely they did they publish other negative reviews (so much for honesty.) Rating on Yelp put this company's services as very poor at a 1 star.

This is the sheet of quotes they left me. Left price is retail; Right price is if I join their monthly service plan and pay a subscription.

Bratcher Heating & Air Conditioning has installed two systems for us in the past decade. We have…read morebeen extremely pleased with both installations. Most recently, spring, 2025, we decided upon a geo-thermal heat pump. They sell GeoComfort systems, which after my extensive investigation on the web looked like a very good choice. Bracher's salesperson, Todd, envisioned our installation as if it was his own home. The crew was friendly, efficient and competent. (And they wore booties over their shoes to avoid soiling the carpet.) When one of the pumps failed during its first hours they sent two technicians to fully troubleshoot the system and replace the pump. (The failure was not Bratcher's fault.) Of course, like any customer, we wanted a good price and Bratcher not only quoted a very reasonable price without frills and unnecessary extras (everything essential was included), but suggested we use our existing ultra-high efficiency gas furnace for backup heat in the winter since it gets pretty cold here. (Geothermal stops working when the outdoor temperature falls below 20-15 degrees F.) That saved us a lot of money. They also made sure we could continue using our Ecobee smart thermostat. They installed a new cable from the basement system to the upstairs thermostat at no extra charge. All through the complex installation Todd would stop by to insure the installation was proceeding as expected. The outdoor temperatures this week hovered near 100 degrees, but inside it's a pleasant 72 and we're hardly using any electric power. I assure you that Bratcher did not suggest or request this review. I just get effusive when I have a pleasant experience with a contractor and things go right.

Before I had the work completed, I got a quote for the plumbing job and was told it would be $115 an hour. So, I went ahead and scheduled the service. It took 30 minutes to complete the job, so imagine my surprise when I get an invoice for $190!!!! That math doesn't quite add up. I called to get clarification and they basically told me that the plumbers "set their own rates." So what good is getting a quote at all??? Basically, they just charge what they want. I will never ever use this service again. Plenty of other honest plumbing services in the area.

My home is in Danville, but they do provide plumbing service in Danville, IL…read more They are a breath of fresh air, and provide the type of plumbing service that I remember from my childhood. They typically come either same day or next day, with absolutely no additional emergency service charge. The focus is on taking the appropriate time to properly diagnose your plumbing issue, then providing you with the right fix. Then, to top it all off, their charges are very fair and reasonable. Unlike many other services, there is NO attempt to overcharge. In fact, they are probably undercharging as any other plumbing service would charge much more for the exact same service, some probably two to three times as much. So, do yourself a favor, if you have a plumbing problem to fix, give them a call. They will come out fairly promptly, give you the exact fix you need, and charge you a very reasonable price. Avoid the other competition that loves to price gouge customers.
