Noy Tailoring & Alterations - It's good

Noy Tailoring & Alterations

(31 reviews)

As of March 31, 2012, this shop has moved to 1205 S. Mattis Ave. in Champaign, next door to Denny's…read moreCleaners and Little Caesars. When I was trying to find its location, the Internet (including Yelp) gave me 3 different addresses (the Noy Alterations website even lists 2 different addresses!). After much confusion in trying to find the store, I called their phone number (which was luckily kept the same) and got correct directions. This is just a heads-up for future customers, since the shop owner seems to have a habit of changing venues frequently... A zipper had broken on my dress and I called around town to get some price estimates. Every place quoted me $20, including Noy. However, when I brought the dress in, I was only charged $15. Service was very prompt (the dress required only 3 days to repair), and the quality was top-notch: the zipper was a good brand and even sturdier than the original one that broke. In addition, the sewing was expertly executed as there was no weird distortion of the fabric; the dress fits and feels better than ever! The owner was very friendly in our transaction. When I came to pick up my finished dress, she showed me the area that was repaired to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. Very professional.

Outstanding service and craftsmanship. I brought in my favorite pair of pants expecting the worst,…read moreand they completely exceeded my expectations. The repair was flawless, turnaround was reasonable, and they truly saved me a lot of stress and heartache. This is now my go-to tailoring shop.

Bridal & Formal Wear Alterations by Azar - Back of pants

Bridal & Formal Wear Alterations by Azar

Azar has done several alterations for me, but the biggest one by far was for my wedding dress last…read moreyear. The work she did was great and in addition she gave very helpful opinions (both for and against alterations). She told me I didn't need hemming when I thought I did, saving me money, and later suggested I consider an underskirt so the dress would look right throughout the day. After she suggested it I agreed and after she added the extra layers it was obvious how much better the dressed looked! I could walk around and it remained full and gave it the right look. Her prices are very reasonable and everything was on time. (I wrote a review for Azar a while back and just saw that it had been removed by yelp for some reason. Apparently very positive reviews can have that happen sometimes... however, I truly had great experiences, hence the positive review and the posting again)

Sept. 24th 2022 had an appointment for alterations, six pair of pants and one skirt. She wanted…read morethree weeks to do the alterations (take in waist), but I asked for two weeks. I arrived two weeks later (Oct. 8th), with an 8th pair, and to pick up the seven I dropped off two weeks earlier. None were done. She said she could have them Monday. She handed me the seven pairs, I took them home. Three were the right size, four were still too large. Pattie's excuse was "they are the same pants, right?". No, some were larger than others, that is why they were all pinned separately. I asked for my money back, she refused. I had to bring them back. I wanted these done for a four week vacations. The three done correctly, two I took on vacation. I took three of the four that were still too large back to her. One of the pants I took on the vacation, the stitching broke. The thread must have been crappy, because the pants have an elastic band. I go back in December 17th to pick them up. Pattie has had them for two months. Just tossed in a cubby below her cash register area. NOT DONE! Her reason, she was sick for a month. She said she called me. No she didn't. She tells me she is will be in at 7:30 a.m. on Monday. I call. She is not there. I had to have a friend pick them up a couple weeks later. Still thrown in the cubby, not hanging nicely in the back. My girlfriend had to ask! for a bad to take them home in. Well... of the four pair, one is still too big. I wish I could post pictures. These were tailored dress pants. They now have gathered -crooked- ruching in the back. They look like crap. Professionalism awful. Tailoring, who does this to pants? Stay away.
