We had originally found Ayers Repairs Company through a Home Warranty claim, and then - after discussing some electrical work we wanted completed - decided to contract them for our electrical repairs. We agreed to a cost of $800 (verbally, not in writing - I'm an idiot) for all of the work, and a time to completion of 1 day. The items we needed repaired were GFI's in the kitchen, GFI in the master bath, electrical outlets in our living room (2 of them), an electrical outlet in the master bedroom, rewiring of the main fuse box, and electrical outlets in the garage with a switch to power them. So far, everything seemed normal. I understand that these are a lot of items for the amount proposed. And, to make a long story short - they spent 3 days working, damaged a very expensive piece of audio equipment, did not fix three of the outlets, and then tried to charge me more than TWICE the original proposed amount. Furthermore, more than 30% of the "repairs" they did no longer work!!! To flesh this out, they caused my wife to need to miss two additional days of work given that they could not seem to finish the work in the proposed amount of time (maybe this is because they would leave for an hour every time they needed to charge a drill). He seemed to be juggling multiple clients at the same time and thereby neglecting the job he agreed to at my property. I enjoy high end audio, and they dumped a bundle of very expensive and heavy cables and power outlets on a very expensive subwoofer (scratching the finish of the box along 25% of the top). Three of the outlets that we requested be on GFI plugs that they "replaced" do not work. Two of the 4 x 4 outlets in the living room do not work. The upstairs bedroom outlet trips whenever you try to power anything larger than a laptop charger. Following all of this they had the nerve to ask for nearly $2000 for their so-called "work". I negotiated down, but I now feel like they ripped me off. I warn anyone who is thinking about contracting their services to go elsewhere!!! read more

I needed a radiator handle replaced in one room on the second floor of my home. I filed a claim through my Home Warranty, got a phone call from Ayers Repairs Company, and scheduled a morning appointment to replace the handle. The job required evacuating all of the water from my heating system. Steve connected a hose from my boiler to a drain in my basement, I suggested that we hold the hose in place with something, but Steve decided against it. When we came back to check on the draining, my basement had flooded with almost all of the water in the heating system, so I had to push broom the water into a floor drain and clamped the hose for the remainder of the evacuation. Next, the broken radiator handle had to be removed and replaced with the working handle. At this point, I had left his side, to let him work on the repair job while I worked on my laptop. The next thing I know, he tells me we have to cut a whole in the finished ceiling of my basement to access a pipe he had loosened. Steve had negligently started twisting a pipe from the second floor, without verifying where it ended. It turns out the pipe went downstairs right above the finished ceiling in my basement entertainment room. I could have told him this if I was closely supervising his work, or he could have prevented this with the proper technique if he had verified where the pipe actually went in my basement. I was VERY upset at this point. I had to skip lunch and cancel my afternoon meetings at work this day to finish supervising Ayers Repair Company until I felt confident he could complete the job on his own with minimum damage to my home. Luckily, Steve was able to tighten the pipe back into place with a proper seal. I only had to drill a few holes in my entertainment room ceiling to identify a leak in the event that the seal was not water tight. He then replaced the handle in the second floor of my home and began refilling the heating system with water. At this point, I felt confident that I had supervised him through the riskiest part of the job and any damage after this point would be minimal, so I left my home and went to work. This review does not take into account all the harassment and negative comments that Ayers Repair Company had regarding my home. I treat all repairmen that come into my home with the most hospitality and respect possible because I want them to feel comfortable in my home. That morning I brought an assortment of donuts, water, and coffee for the Ayers Repair Company. I do not believe I deserved to receive a morning full of negative remarks about my home from Steve. After the basement flooding and nearly having to tear out and repair the finished ceiling in my basement, I no longer wanted anything to do with Ayers Repair Company - I wanted him to finish the job and leave me alone. I hired Ayers Repair Company because it was the service provider approved by my Home Warranty company. To be fair, I have received equally poor service from this warranty company and have since cancelled it. I had to repair my own over after a Warranty-approved service provider misdiagnosed my oven, had the Warranty company deny my service, and still charged me the deductible. Based on the previous review, this seems to be the type of service to be expected from Ayers Repair Company. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of hiring Ayers Repair Company to go elsewhere. read more

Steve and his company came in and replaced a 40 year old furnace, removed the old one and made sure it passed inspection. They put down a droop cloth to make sure they did not track in, great work in a timely fashion. read more

We have used Ayers Repairs for all of our appliance and HVAC work for over 20 years. Steve has worked on 2 boilers (at 2 different houses), and he was able to repair them for a lot less than local competitors (one of which wanted us to purchase a brand new boiler for $1,200--and there was a simple, inexpensive repair for it!). Steve has worked on our AC, 2 washers, 2 dryers, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher. He is reasonably priced, and he has given us advice if we need to purchase new or continue with a repair (even when the repair would benefit him, he has told us we might be better off replacing the item). I have recommended him to many friends as well. read more
