We had an issue over the Thanksgiving weekend with the main line getting backed up into the bathtub and water leaking from underneath the toilet. We called Paul and he was great from the start. Paul was very knowledgeable and explain things in a way that we could understand. He was able to answer questions my dad asked without hesitation. He explained our options for this visit and set up future plans if needed. Aside from clearing the main line, Paul noticed that the wax ring on our toilet was not as tall as it should be and instead of just leaving it the way it was he fixed it or us. He did not have the part in the van so he went out and got it for us. He went above and beyond and we are very grateful for the great work he did. We spoke with him late on Friday and set up for Saturday morning with him. Very impressed with the service provided by Lucas Pryor, owner of 217 Heating and Cooling. I put a call into 217 early morning on April 22nd as my furnace was not running and my house was freezing. Lucas was able to squeeze this service call in within a few hours. When he arrived he was very professional. Put covers over his shoes, gave me an overview of who he was and about his company. He then proceeded to ask what/where the problem was. Unlike other HVAC companies that have come out, he didn't drag his feet in identifying the problem, causing the clock to run on the hourly rate. He even walked me through each test he was running, showing me the exact problem upon diagnosis. He ordered the necessary parts and scheduled a follow up appt to finish the repair. We have had 217 service our house for two separate occasions, to replace a back-up sump pump and to fix our A/C that had broken down right at the beginning of summer's heat. When we had called a larger company first (rhymes with Dance), we couldn't get anyone to come out to our house earlier than a week out. Both times we called 217, the service was timely and efficient, less costly than the estimate from the larger company, and the technicians were personable. On the first visit involving the back-up sump pump, Lucas even took the time to point out a problem with our water heater and gave us valuable advice; it turned out a couple months later that his advice was spot on. For the A/C job, Lucas made the repair job happen before the weekend so our little ones wouldn't have to endure another few days of unbearable heat. I had a leaky coil in the outside unit of my air-conditioner. I called three heating and air companies to come and evaluate my problem. Two of the companies (major companies in central Illinois who you would recognize but I won't name) told me that I had to basically scrap my older system using the older air-conditioning gas. Two of them said there was nothing to do but start over and do a conversion (very expensive). 217 Heating & Cooling (Lucas did the work) looked my system over and told me that the outside coil was still under warranty and could be replaced. He informed me that the rest of my system was perfectly serviceable and that this was an acceptable solution. I considered it ironic that the other two big name heating and air companies failed to either recognize this issue or immediately went to the most expensive solution. We noticed on an early Saturday morning that we had a leak coming from our crawlspace. We called 217's emergency line and were told by the answering service that someone would be in touch soon, and they were, within 15 mins or so. We explained the problem, he told us the emergency rate, he let us know where we were in the order and about how long to expect. Once he was on his way we got a text with his name and picture (Alan, he was great). He knew pretty quickly what the issue was, and explained how he could fix it, and gave us a quote. He had to run back to get some equipment, but kept us informed the whole time. When he came back he went right to work, but also continued to communicate what he was seeing. I'm not really a review-writing person. Actually, I made a yelp account just so I could give these guys a 5 star review. My air conditioner stopped working during a really hot humid spell a couple weeks ago. By the time I had arrived home and noticed, it was pretty late in the day. I called my landlords, who in turn called 217, and they said they could stop by first thing in the morning. Because of how late it was, I was perfectly satisfied with this. But then, Patrick called me back at SEVEN O CLOCK PM and asked if I wanted him to come over and fix it now. This guy was still working, fixing another family's AC at 7 pm. And then instead of going home, he offers to come fix mine too. They even sent me a "thank you for your business" card a few days later! People, if that's not good customer relations, I don't know what is. read more

On a Saturday afternoon, I heard a loud crash in my laundry room - the vent pipe for my dryer had fallen out of the ceiling. It had pulled away from where it was connected to the roof vent. I searched online for help and came upon the website and reviews for 217inc. I chatted online with a representative who assured me that their company could fix this problem. We scheduled two appointments - one on Monday for them to look at the problem, decide what parts and supplies they would need and let me know what it would cost. The second appointment on Tuesday to do the repair/replacement if I chose to go with their plan. Their reps were professional, polite and efficient and they do quality work. Great Company. I had an old cranky uncooperative furnace that was giving me one problem after another. With all the troubles and issues 217 stood by their work and laid out my options. I fact-checked their statements and Patrick was on-point with quotes, life, and proficiency of a new furnace compared to the efficiency of my old worn-out one, as well as the cost of repairing it piece by piece as the parts begin to fail. 217 does an excellent job. Customer service was superior. Darren was here, on time with all of the proper tools needed to do the install of our dishwasher. Due to the way the old dishwasher was configured in the cabinet we had to do some light construction work before the unit could be secured into the space. Darren offered to come back when that work was done and finish the install if we didn't feel we could do it ourselves. He came back as promised and worked to get it secured, which turned out to be more of a challenge than he thought. Our neighbor, a realtor, recommended 217 to service our boiler. Patrick arrived promptly when scheduled for the initial service and took the time to explain how the boiler and radiators worked (this was our first house with a boiler). We later had a problem with the pressure building up in the boiler, and Patrick again was immediately responsive (including responding to texts late at night). It took several attempts to fix the problem (hard to diagnose), but they were courteous and responsive throughout. And, it is working great now. (p.s. This time was just for annual checking the furnace and heating system and discussed the possibility of changing the heating system in the near future. Had an issue at one of my apartments with a valve to the water heater. One of the pipes broke and water was beginning to gush into the apartment. Paul DeBolt was the technician working at my apartment that day. For at least 30 minutes he kept his foot on the pipe to keep water from getting into the apartment, to the point where his foot was getting numb lol. Called them after another vendor (Mattex) said we should replace a furnace at a cost of $3,000 +. Lucas (the owner) stopped out. I mentioned that the furnace hadn't run since we had a new roof put on. Lucas immediately suspected the vent pipe on the roof. A trip to the roof confirmed his theory. I was very pleased with these guys. They not only found and fixed the gas leak in my furnace but also discovered that a bird had built a nest in the exhaust pipe and fixed that as well.
