All gaps were caulked and we haven't had an issue with those windows. Last winter, I had Cramer replace the upstairs windows (At about twice the cost per window). The installation was very poor and I've had to go back with 1/8 and 1/4 inch backer rod and then caulk to seal the gaps. Several of the windows were installed so poorly that the locks don't latch properly and cold air is just pouring through on all sides. As they were finishing up this time, I asked about the caulking. "Oh, we don't do that any more." I know I should have had them come back and re-do the entire job but, honestly, I refuse to let them in my house again. Buyer beware.

Asked to resolve, and they did. Two of the window frames were installed with large deep scrapes in the frame. Had to have those re-ordered and re-installed. Installers did not seem to bother to 'quality check' and rely on the customer to do this. Making it very awkward. Another window had a defect in between the glass panes, their crew has been out 3 times to replace, each time the "factory messed it up". One of the times they came, the installer did not bother to clean their shoes, resulting in the new carpets needing cleaned thoroughly. Explained my dissatisfaction with the sales rep and just had a simple apology and very little ownership of the process. I gave them two stars because they respond back, and continue to try. However, the lack of professionalism and quality in the production has left me with major regret on this purchase. Would certainly NOT recommend.

I asked Illini Home Improvements to insulate a room that is above our garage. This room was very…read morecold in the winter, and very hot in the summer. They came out and inspected what insulation I already had, and explained clearly why that insulation wasn't working. Basically, the builder had not insulated properly, either due to not knowing the proper way to insulate this type of room, or due to cutting corners. They explained to me what they would recommend, and why, and gave a firm estimate and time frame for when they could do the job. I agreed and their team showed up when they said they would, did the job, and cleaned up after themselves. They stuck to their quote even though the job took a significant amount more of insulation than expected. I was able to inspect their work via the attic, and they did exactly what they told me they would do. So far this room is warmer in the winter, but will never be as warm as the rest of the house due to being over a cold garage, and due to having inadequate heating vents. But at least the room is usable now and we can use a space heater as needed. My thanks to the team, and I'll call them again when I need something insulated. Note that despite the name of this company, they don't do EVERY kind of home improvement; this company specializes in weather-proofing/ insulation.

I was unhappy with the way the installer (his name was Chuck) handled the job. The screens were torn (not his fault), but instead of replacing them and coming back to finish the job as he said he would, he returned the broken screens to my porch about a month later with a note taped to it with a disconnected phone number. He didn't leave the packaging materials or instructions, so returning them to the company wasn't an option for me. I had to pay $90 for replacement parts, and Illini Home Improvement refused to accept responsibility for the job since the contractor was no longer employed with them. Frustrating to say the least and my doors are still not in working order.

The company did a great job with every aspect of our sunroom - design, foundation/patio, general construction, roofing, flooring, electrical, painting, etc. We are several months out after completion without any problems.
