Get over it! How about, next time you have the cold, I take poorly lit and purposefully ugly pictures of you, then post it on social media. How would you like that? I catch you in your worst state and amplify it. You wanna "help" the dog? Buy them! They'd love to go home with you, and then maybe when they're home with you, you'll realize that sicknesses heal, and animals and businesses are not defined just because you had one poor experience. Please don't read one bad story on social media, see one staged picture, see one sick animal, and just assume the place is a hell hole. My brother and his partner adopted a little guy into their new family from puppy love. Now, less than a week later, the puppy is dead. They filed a claim while the puppy was alive to report that he's sick, but puppylove and puppy care ran the clock on the puppy without giving any guidance. And they're still waiting on the claim. The claim process tells owners to hold onto their dogs' deceased body to return to them while they are being proceesed. This is an atrocious process to put them through and anyone experiencing the robbed hope of a new family member. The staff and management are cold and heartless after they make their sale. All dogs go to heaven, but this place does not provide the "love" as much as they claim. Save your money and adopt or go to certified reputable breeders. read more

Okay, I'm going to try to be fair here... almost two years ago we bought our beautiful Beagle from this store. I had actually just dragged my wife in so that she could smell puppy breath because she never had. We fell in love with our girl, and bought her the same day. The staff was very careful with bringing the puppies out, making sure that we sanitized our hands before handling the puppies, there were separated handling areas, and they are feeding the pups high quality food (at least that is what they said). Two days later we took her to the vet- low and behold she had worms. No big deal really- happens all the time, and it's not expensive to treat (so we thought) so I didn't even call on the warranty. Retested after the first treatment, and then discovered the giardia worms. Found out she is a poop eater so was likely re-infecting herself (when we had her fixed the vet was even shocked at how quickly she could do her business and the eat it -gross I know but still true) FIVE worm treatments later and retested a week ago - she is "worm free" however - after paying an astronomical amount for the pup, we spent at least another $1k in treating and retesting for those worms! Again, to be fair, we never reported this to puppy love or tried to submit a claim, but if we had we would've gotten a fraction of the costs for treatment reimbursed *or* could've returned or exchanged our girl? (Would have to read the contract again but that was my understanding after reading it back then). In any case, there was no way I was going to do anything but get my girl healthy as quickly as possible! I'm giving a 2 star rating because IMO, some puppies eat poop. It's true, it just is. Therefore I feel that ALL of the puppies should have a fecal exam a few days after receipt, and should be segregated from other "cleared" pups until the results are back. Yes, this might cause the segregated pups to be sad for a couple days, and it might be an extra expense *but* at the prices puppy love is charging, it would be worth it to ensure both repeat business and customer satisfaction (From a business perspective) and that their pups are healthy and well cared for (which will also make customers happy, and lead to good corporate image). read more

I am shocked and saddened that a place like this still exists. We all know it is wrong to promote puppy mills. It's mass breeding, poor conditions--for profit. Look it up online. It's sickening. I was a kid and had no idea that I had just reinforced the puppy mill cycle. That poor dog, who became Nellie, had been in the third tier of a stack of metal cages in the pet shop for 32 days. For the rest of her life, she freaked out over metallic noises. She had issues, to say the least, but I loved her. And she loved me. The day I "rescued" her, I remember the look she gave me, laying on her side, absolutely resolute, from the cage. I had to spring her. The rest is an epic love affair. Fast forward. Today, I was in the paint store next door to Puppy "Love" and, like another reviewer, wandered in thinking they would have treats etc for sale. (Of course, have a new dog-family since Nellie passed.). Unbelievable. There were puppies in small plexiglass units stacked on top of each other! I asked the young clerk if the puppies actually lived in the boxes or were there other accommodations they spent time in...she told me, no, they stayed in the display cases and were occasionally walked. My mouth dropped. How does this exist today? 26 years later and all the education about puppy mills and the dogs available at shelters???? It has to be us consumers. We perpetuate this. Saddest thing......there was a beautiful, wise-eyed corgi puppy! $3,000!!!!! No kidding. $3,000. Anybody up for a midnight raid at Puppy "Love"? I got this puppy at 3 months old. I never thought I'd care so much for a dog. As a result. I'm upset. My Shiba (Frankie) is scared shitless of going on walks or going outside in general. Clearly this is because he was in that glass box so long he didn't know there was a whole world put there and it intimidates him. We have had great luck with our purchase of our French Bulldog. We have only been in the store 3 times and we had a great experience each time. The shop and kennels were clean and we did not notice any overcrowding. It did not appear to have any of the traits of a puppy mill. We have had Lucy for 2 years with no health issues. She is a great pet, gets the zoomies once in awhile but is just full of energy. read more

But out of honor of the puppy I bought from Puppies Plus, the Shih Tzu that was so sick, she lay limp in my sons arms and burning up with fever....well...she had to be put down because she became paralyzed from IVDD and is HERIDITARY! My son and I were going to spend the money to help her. We got her a wheelchair. But now, stopped eating. Brought her back into the ER and they found a very big tumor in her bladder. Once again...HERIDITARY! In December of 2021, I had to make the saddest decision I could ever make and put her down. She was only 7 YEARS OLD!!!! This puppy store is disgusting, the owners are just disrespectful and do not care for the animals one single bit. The dogs are drinking out of HAMSTER WATER FEEDERS! They have no food in their cages and are sitting in a tiny cage with paper shavings and urine and feces all over the cage. These dogs don't get walks or anything. Waited an hour and a half for a vet to get there. This place is legit. I am so happy we happened upon it while we were on vacation. It is clean, and it prides itself on offering AKC certified puppies. The place has two play pen areas where customers can play with the puppies they're interested in to decide whether they want the dog or not. When you express interest, the sales associate will give you the breeder's information as well as the name of the dam and sire. I highly encourage everyone to first look up online the breeder's name to make sure it's legitimate. When I questioned how they chose breeders to get puppies from, the process, etc, the sales associate had no idea. She just kept repeating "that all goes through central", implying that probably there's chances that puppies bred in puppy mill - type situations end up here, but to me, that's just more reason to save them if you're really interested in them. Basically, I don't find any fault with the facility itself, or the maintenance of it. The dogs seem to be well taken care of, each is very carefully labelled. The sales associate does know each of the dogs personally so that was very good. But in terms of morality and ethics, it seems the sales associate will not be able to vouch or give you information on that. Oh, and the prices are cheap, but do not forget that in order to finalize the AKC registration for the puppy, you need to pay over $300 after you buy the puppy. So add that cost to whatever number is on the price tag. Their finance plan is good, especially for people who can't afford it otherwise, but know that in the end, you will be paying more (like most finance plans). read more

Went back the next day at 2:20 and the door was locked - when I called I was told they would be closed for an hour. Really? Took her to the vet within the 3 day period and the dog was SICK they refuse to pay for ANY testing to find out what is wrong with the dog. This pup in particular was diagnosed with giardia which was acquired from their facility and is contagious to other animals and possibly humans. So if you plan to purchase a pup from here plan to pay for plenty of stool samples and hope your pup doesn't pass it to the other dogs in your home. I am going to need test and treat my other dogs in the home. Shouldn't sell sick pups. Their "health guarantee" is a JOKE. This poor pups lymph nodes were also enlarged ALL but one. They will not pay for testing to find out what is wrong with the dog. I was told "it's unlikely your puppy will die from this" regardless I was told I was being sold a HEALTHY puppy. This poor puppy is NOT healthy! SO if you want to pay a high dollar amount for a puppy and then a high dollar amount for veterinary care this place is for you! They Switch dogs around frequently so it's pretty likely all of the dogs there are sick. They shove multiple pups into one tiny glass box read more

It's really hard to give this store a single star. They were rude from the moment we walked in. They asked for my license and to sign a form accepting responsibility if the puppy got hurt just to see the puppy. Like an idiot I gave it to them. When they told me I had to sit on the dirty floor, where puppies pee to be "seen", I told them I could not sit on it because I would be unable to get up. (I had a hip replacement 1.5 yrs ago, but did not feel like I had to explain that. Than she put a folding chair in the area and told me I could not pick it up. They are extremely over priced and very rude and want 3500.00 for a Yorker I could not pick up. I said, "Never mind, I'll just take my license back. I walked out than went back in and asked for the paper where they had my license info, since I had not even even hear the puppies yet. They refused to give it to me, and said they shred it once a week. I said, just shed it now and they refused to do that too. I told them I wanted them to write I had not held the puppies on it and told them I wanted to take a picture of it to protect myself. They wrote I was rude, no sale no hold puppy! A few people finally convinced me to do this review. It's been a year and a half since I purchased our puppy from Puppy Love in Sparks, NV. First mistake: Buying a puppy from a store. First excuse: My husband is severely allergic to animals, so I had to get a hypoallergenic dog.(In my defense, he actually is not allergic to our dog). Second excuse: I just took the kids in to look at the puppies Third excuse: We couldn't help falling in love with our Lhasa Apso. Second mistake: We used the financing through their store, Easypay finance. Fourth excuse: I should have went home and told my husband I wanted the puppy. He probably would have said okay and purchased the puppy, but why take the chance? Third mistake: Taking Puppy Love employees at their word, and not reading the contract. The contract is sent to your email. I opened it and she was nice enough, so I wasn't too offended when she reached for my phone and started scrolling and explaining the contract, telling me where to initial and sign. She also told me that it would be 15% interest, just make sure I'm paid off by July, and there would be no interest. My mind saw 15% as she said it when she was hastily scrolling by. Mind you, I had 6 children playing with a new puppy, trying to pay attention to everything going on. I am embarrassed to say, July came and went, and I thought since the finance company was taking the money out of my bank account directly, they took out everything I owed. However, the 15%, was actually 151%. Yes folks, that is not a typo. I said 151%, just like the rum they took off shelves, because even they knew 151% is TOOOO MUCH!!! So...the pup should have cost $2000.00, after fighting with puppy love and the finance company, we threw in the towel and payed a total of appx. $5000. Fifth excuse: I'm a moron who didn't read the contract myself. I ALSO TOOK OUR PUP TO THE VET WITHIN 3 DAYS OF GETTING HIM. HE HAD GIARDIA, AND THE VET THEY HAVE CARE FOR THE PUPPIES, GAVE HIM A SET OF SHOTS TOO EARLY, SO HE HAD TO BE REVACCINATED. PUPPY LOVE REFUNDED US $130. read more

We purchased a dog back in October, we took the dog to the vet within the required 3 day period from when we got him. The Vet did the exam, and recommended that we do a fecal test as well. It came back that our newest family member had a significant Giardia 3+ infection. We medicated with the medication the vet gave us, fast forward 6 weeks to December, the puppy was still fighting with stomach upset and extremely loose stools. We contacted the Vet to get their recommendations (unsure if it could be the food or Giardia causing his diarrhea), they suggested a second round of treatment for Giardia. Two weeks later, we still had loose stools, and did a third round of antibiotics, anti-worm medication, probiotics, and a specialized diet. Now, we just finished the third round of antibiotics, and the dog still has a 3+ infection of Giardia. When giving this information to Puppy Love, the owner accused us of not taking proper care of the dog! She admitted that the dogs do not get tested for parasites like Giardia unless it gets reported to the vet (that checks on the dogs weekly), that there's a problem with loose stools. We have spent now more than $500 trying to get rid of this parasite. We are lucky that he's a large breed dog, or he may not have survived so many rounds of strong antibiotics. read more

You're asked to use hand sanitizer before touching the dogs. The dogs all looked healthy to me , but I have heard some people get unlucky with a sick dog. The reason why I am giving a 3 star is because they charge THOUSANDS of dollars for any puppy regardless of breed. Breeds that are usually low cost are still ridiculously expensive. The average person in this area don't have high salaries.Loans are offered for those who don't mind getting into debt. They should do a mandatory vet check and deworming before the puppy is sent home for that much, its the Least they can do! But over 4,000 USD for a puppy where the parents are not on site,they're kept in a glass box and they're not quarantined or anything before sent home which is a lot. Most of the dogs are priced between 3,000 and 5,000 for anyone wondering. Because of this,sadly... my family decided not to get a dog until later. Its extremely unfortunate that this is the only puppy store locally. Northern NV lacks dog breeders too, so this is basically your only option if you cannot drive far away. I'm fully aware of the city shelter/humane society , but they usually just have mixed large breeds or small ones with behavior problems. Not everyone can have a shedding dog. Some of us need purebred allergy-friendly. Unless someone opens a better,reasonably priced store, I have no choice but to save an extra $4.5k or go to another state... read more

This place boasts vet health checks when you purchase your puppy. They go through the paperwork rather quickly so you don't see that a comprehensive exam was never done on the puppy, rather some vet that you cannot find record of anywhere just checking off required boxes. The puppies were active, playful, and happy, no reason to think that the one you picked out might be ill. My puppy came home with a very intense case of giardia, yet the "vet check" from literally the day before noted that everything was good in the GI department. They promise medication reimbursement for any illness or parasite IF you get your new pup into a licensed vet within 3 business days. During Covid, that was an impossible feat. I called every vet in town and they were all 2+ weeks out for appointments. Puppy Love refused to honor their puppy warranty. My puppy is luckily handling giardia pretty well, but we are starting round three of the medications to kill what seems to be a very resistant strain. So if you're looking for an overpriced puppy with a bunch of vet bills to add to the mix, be sure to shop here. I love my little guy so stinking much, and I'm honestly glad that we brought him home and away from these negligent people, but who knows how many other poor puppies have succumbed to their poor treatment and unsanitary practices.
