Overall a great facility and staff, ive adopted a few fur babies from them in the past

This event was so informative. It was a real eye opener. So many dogs and cats looking for their forever homes. I wish I could take them all. Great event. Best part of the evening was the puppy kissing booth. I couldn't get enough of the puppy kisses. Please stop in and take a look around. You are sure to fall in love

I'm so thankful for the Nevada Humane Society! I got my two kitties from them. One of them the most social, wanting loves all the time. The other one the Reno humane society saw his anxiety and decided to transfer him to Carson. Now THATS how you take care of an animal. Realizing they might need different accommodations.

Today I adopted my 2nd kitty. I named him Poppy. I adopted Banyon and he is nearly 1 year old and it was such a great experience adopting with the Nevada Humane Society, Today I have a new baby kitty. Banyon and Poppy will grow up as brothers. This is the proudest day. I love the Nevada Humane Society. Thank you to Tara Clark, Cat Staff who put Poppy in my hands. I was kissed 2 times and then he was mine! lol A big Thank you also to Nina M who was my adoption Adoption Specialist. This is the 2nd time I rang the BELL. Another kitty was adopted to a good home today...my h

I don't know what happened to this place; we adopted three of our dogs from the Nevada Humane Society in the past, and the process was streamlined and simple. Recently, we visited them intent on adopting a new fur-baby since my 18-year old dog passed away before Christmas of this year. I personally have visited the facility at least 4 or 5 times now and each dog I've asked about is either "on hold" for someone else, not available because for one reason or something else. When I tried putting a dog on hold when I visited after work, the front desk guy said I couldn't do that. A couple of days after New Years, I left work early so that I can be there right as they opened at 11am but the tech said the dog I was scheduled to meet was uncooperative and none of the techs could leash it. I'm happy for the dogs that get adopted but at the same time, the adoption process is chaotic, the place is a madhouse, and some volunteers can be a bit curt. The kennels aren't maintained, some dogs are locked in with feces or sick and they show visible signs of open sores or some infection on their skins. The most demoralizing part of each visit is if the dogs are unavailable, then please put a sign on their cage doors stating so, that way you don't get someone's hopes up. The adoption process leaves the person (and probably the animal) both physically and emotionally drained; rejection after rejection, going to the Humane Society to adopt a dog has been an excruciating and torturous experience.

Starting to collect for drop off-minus her... now she decides to sit in the bed!

Read an article that the are in need of food, blankets and beds for the sheltered animals.. I am gathering up whatever my two spoiled dogs have. This charity will always have my heart-!

The woman helping procure the adoption was abrupt borderline rude. We choose a dog & waited an 1hr for a private meeting with the dog. The Dog costed $75 and we were warned that if she ran away or we didn't get her next shots or didn't register her w/in 24 hrs we would be Fined $400!! All we were provided with was a leash that was the size of an Adidas shoe string for a 53 lbs dog going with strangers. Which I had to practically beg for a leash. The dog chewed thru the string "leash" on the way home putting the dog & the new owners in danger.

At Washoe County Regional Animal Services Dispatch (WCAS) and management what I continue to find frustrating for years is their lack of knowing their job description, the laws they are to enforce, basic manners, basic business skills, basic communication skills, and their below average intelligence. The latest failing of WCAS is the increase of unleashed dogs not only in our neighborhood but also at the parks. I have recently observed three attacks by unleashed dogs upon walkers at the park, and four attacks by unleashed dogs upon leashed dogs at the parks and an unleashed dog in the neighborhood attacking one of my neighbors who was walking to the park and twice unleashed dogs in the neighborhood attacking my neighbors leashed dogs while walking their leashed dogs in the neighborhood. Washoe County Regional Animal Services Dispatch refuses to take a report or do anything about it. Why? Because the violations of Washoe County leash law and dog attacks are taking place when Washoe County Regional Animal Services Dispatch is not open. Washoe County Animal Services is REQUIRED to enforce various laws related to animal ownership, care, and control, primarily outlined in Washoe County Code Chapter 55. https://washoecounty.gov/animal/faq/ Taxpayer funded salaries at WCAS are at https://transparentnevada.com/salaries/search/?a=washoe&q=animal+services&y=2022 P.S. Wish if our situation changes we could get him back but there's a form that I had to sign saying they might not do that (very hurtful). There were a lot of tears today, but we are holding onto hope and praying that Tyson finds a loving, safe, and happy forever home. I was living at Our Place (Shelter) and they contacted me about the transitional housing program. This day completely changed my life around. I entered the Transitional Housing program with a newborn. They gave me a place to stay, assistance with basic needs (diapers, toiletries, food, furniture, etc.), and provided a furnished apartment. Throughout my stay they gave us food to be able to provide a Christmas dinner to our families, birthday baskets for our children, and countless other forms of support! They provided my daughter and I stability, which I can never thank them enough for!! While in the program I was able to attend classes such as book club, financial literacy, and support group. They even paid for therapy! I met with a financial coach every 2 weeks and she taught me how to keep a budget, pay off debt, save, and get back on my feet.
