DO NOT BUY ANY ANIMAL there I bought a dog at Puppies Plus (1700 W New Haven Ave. Unit 651 Melbourne, FL 32904 United States), located at Melbourne Mall. The puppies situation is terrible and the staff are unprofessional. I ended up falling in love and buying a dog for almost 3 thousand dollars and found out she is sick. I was told the dog would undergo treatment at the location. Puppies Plus released a dog with Giardia, even though they explicitly told me they would treat the dog themselves. They did not treat the dog. Their "vet" on-staff didn't even fill out all the necessary paperwork. They never provided the final results of my dog confirming she was cleared with Giardia. There were 11 dogs for sale at the location, and 9 of them were sick with Giardia and Coccidia. I have 2 more dogs at home and they are contaminated with Giardia. I called Puppies plus and asked to get us the reimbursement of the 3 puppies tests (around $80 each) and the treatment ( around $60 each). Puppies plus informed me that they would only pay for the treatment of the dog I bought from them or they would refund the dog to me if I returned her. By law, Pet store can not release any sick dog with infectious disease. The Puppies Plus staff ( not a nurse or a veterinary) gave to my dog a Nobivac canine Vaccine on 12/31/2021. They have a partnership with VCA Village Animal Hospital. VCA provided a signed document by a veterinary days before they released my dog, By the time the veterinary signed the document she was Giardia positive and the doctor approved to be released. I bought two yorkies from Puppies Plus...and I found the store to be clean...and the staff knowledgeable.

Sadly I made the poor decision to purchase my new family member from here believing what I had heard about them being above board. The experience in the shop was fine and when I happily got home with my new puppy I thought oh let me look this breeder up! The breeder was listed as Addyson Gustin from AK. There was no such name to be found so I googled just the last name and breeder... I found that the breeders actual name was Anita Gustin and she had made the list for the top 100 worst puppy mills in America. Ouch. When I wrote them to check out what the deal was they said that it was a family friend who bred the poodles. Then why did the paperwork say Addyson Gustin on them? They sent me some certificates of the breeder Anita Gustin that they had on hand and the whole thing smelled fishy. Being the individual that I am I believed them. That is until I took my baby to my vet yesterday... they guessed he was just, maybe just 8 weeks. Which means this poor baby was ripped from his probably neglected mother at a terribly young age. These poor puppies suffer for hours on end in empty wire cages often in their own feces. That is unacceptable. Update: my baby Was fine wagging his tail no issues and within seconds just fell dead. The whole thing was traumatic. I'm grieving bad. It's been 2-3 weeks now. I'm waiting for puppies plus to give me another yorkie because I'm literally heart broken and not doing good. I didn't even spend a year with him. The X-ray showed he had a deformed heart defect and trachea defect. Also I found him to be a puppy mill dog that has had numerous violations for lake of vet care. Idk what to do. I impulsively bought a puppy Shiba Inu here about 8 months ago. I fell in love with a dog that has been my dream dog since I was in grade school. They did financing, so I got her. The One staff member that I dealt with was pleasant and seemed like she truly cared about the pups, the other seemed like she hated all of the customers, herself and the pups alike. After bringing her home, Which I do understand now, was later than it should have been, I did my research on this place and others that are similar. And instantly became terrified. But So far, after 9 months, we don't have any obvious problems. Our family vet of over 15 years, said she looked well and looked like she was up to date on her shots. They also gave us her entire background including her family tree.. So, personally I had a decent experience THUS FAR. My pup is still less than a year old though.. However, looking back, I feel horrible for the pups. I paid over 3 thousand dollars for one of the (cheaper) quickly rotating set of dogs, and they can't even give them a cheap bed or mat or anything. When I first met my pup, she was laying in her food bowl to nap. And they get just a short amount of time outside of the cage where they go behind the counter to get an extra maybe 5 sq feet of space to play. With that being said, I still got the best dog ever, whom I love more than most things and people in the world. I had a similar experience today as another reviewer. My youngest son's birthday is March 1st. I have thought about another dog for a long time but wanted to be fully ready for the time consuming task of house-breaking a puppy. I thought it would be nice to bring home the dog around the time of my son's birthday so feeling ready, I started my search two weeks ago. My first experience at this store was two week ago: another customer with a European accent was arguing loudly with the store owner about how he sold her a sick puppy and he needs to be liable for it. Some kind of skin condition that involved $5000 in vet bills since Christmas. She was shouting and threatening to sue him and that poor lady was clearly upset because she already fell in love with the dog that she received for Christmas and is now stuck in a bottomless pit of pet bills. The store owner's response was he can't help her, what happens to the dog after it leaves is the owner's responsibility. He said the store has been in business 20 years and her threats don't scare him. I was also very concerned because I saw 5+ cockroaches crawling on the dog cages. I decided there must be better options, so I left the store. I spent some time applying online for small breed dogs up for adoption. They would all be adopted by the time I inquired since the smaller breeds are more popular. My other options were private breeders but I didn't really want to drive hours away to look. So despite witnessing the hysterical woman's heed of warning two weeks ago, being the slow learner that I apparently am, today, I went to the store again to give them another chance. My now 3 year old yorkie was purchased from another pet store in another state and I had a good experience. Maybe the sick puppy from two weeks ago was a rare occurrence I thought.... I thought I might have a different outcome if I fully inspected the puppy before buying.... I asked the associate with braces if I could see the Maltese. She looked me up and down and said that the puppy was $1650. I said "ok, so can I hold the puppy and take a look?" She said they only let people play with puppies if they are intending to buy. I said "I have the intention to buy, and I can certainly afford to by but I won't know for sure until I see the puppy up close." She clearly decided I could not afford the puppy and repeated that "only people who will actually be able to buy the puppy can hold the puppy." I'm not sure what their policy implies... perhaps they want you to buy the puppy first BEFORE inspecting for congenital diseases and then you have to argue or sue your way for a refund once you find out that it does have one, like the European woman from two weeks ago? I'm not sure. What I am sure about is that this is not the place to buy your puppy. Go to the AKC website and find reputable breeders. Visit their home, see the parents' living conditions and purchase the puppies directly from them. Most of the time if there is an issue they will replace your puppy. Most of the time they will charge you 30% of the cost of the pet store. It may not be convenient but it is the way to go if you can't adopt. Don't waste your time at this store. I decided I wanted to get my son a puppy and went there to look. I asked where they get their puppies from because I've seen a puppy mill once and was concerned. The cashier said they come AKC registered breeders who are inspected and meet safety and health guidelines. Perfect answer. So I asked to see one of the puppies and she very rudely said she would get it out if I was serious about getting a puppy. I said I was and she said "well it's $1,400" I said we were serious. She continued to argue with me. So I said never mind and walked out as she laughed. Maybe she was pissed I asked where their puppies are from or she just thought I couldn't afford that dog. First off I want to say the two girls that work there were very nice and somewhat seemed to know what they were doing. I would NOT recommend purchasing a puppy from there. Almost all the puppies were sick. They need to get all the puppies in the shop healthy before bringing in new puppies. The poor puppies stay in a crate to pee and poop. Never let out so the crates all had soil in them. They should have employees cleaning them constantly. The store Manager has no clue what is going on with the puppies. Don't buy!!!!! My best friend and I went to the mall today... Puppies Plus was the second store. We walk-in and it's super hot! All of the puppies were lethargic and 2 of them had their faxes in the water bowl. I told them they need to turn down the ac in the store. They said it's not hot in here. I asked to see a puppy. They led me to the room, but she told me you can't go in here. It was super hot. I told her it's too hot. I called Melbourne police and mall security came too. The animal control officer, Rodriguez, said the temp was adequate. I said what is adequate? She said it's what they told me. I asked the temp again and she reported adequate again. She said she doesn't need to know the temp because their comment of adequate was enough! . It's sad enough that the 6 wk old puppies are super hot and in a cage until bought, but to have to end our temperatures like that is not acceptable. (My feet were sweating and I had sandals on.) Called about the "Miniature Aussieranian Female" which has to be a typo on the website because that dog breed does not exist. They were asking $1,475 for this dog!!! I would have rescued this dog in a heartbeat but for NO MORE than $500! One a trip to the mall I stopped in the check out what items they had at in their store. I of course, took a look at the puppies. I noticed a large siberian husky in a very small cage pacing back and forth and exhibiting destructive behavior. I inquired with the woman who was working there who very RUDELY told me she had not had time to let the dog out of his crate for the day. It was almost 7 pm. Also, when I inquired as to where the breeder was all I was told was that it's a "local" breeder. But absolutely refused to give me any more information. If you want to see a puppy wouldn't you want to be nice to the customer and answer any questions they have? Make me believe they are selling puppy mill puppies but don't want to admit to it. When I wanted to see my puppy they did ask me if I was serious about buying then and there if the puppy and I 'clicked'. Horrible place. Wire cages with no beds. They say that the puppies get adopted really fast so they are not in the cages for very long. This is no excuse for not providing beds and places to play. A grassy yard would be great. The cages are tiny with multiple dogs in them. They claim that their store is registered or authorized by the AKC. The AKC does not do that. They don't register individual stores. The place smells of urine and feces and you can smell it from several feet away from the store. They are definitely puppy mill puppies. The poor puppies are often sold sick or with emotional stress. This shows when you see the puppies circling their cages over and over. Please do not purchase from them. read more

Well I'd like to start by saying this review is long over due. I was playing with my dogs and realized that most of there toys are all tore up. Ropes, chew toys, tennis balls etc. I have 2 championship golden retrievers Jersey and Lexie and the both of them love going in my pool. So I decided to check this store out to see what they have. As soon as I walked in I was greeted my a young women, I believe she said her name was vieronica. She asked me if there was anything particular I was looking for and we started talking and walking around, about 10 minutes later I believe he was the owner Phil came out to assist vieronica. I told them what I was looking for and they helped me with my selection. I know I was in there just buying a pack of tennis balls and a rope to play with them and it was amazing how much love they had for this work and how they were more then happy to help me even Though it wasn't a huge purchase. So with that said I would totally recommend puppies plus at the melbourne mall for anything pet related. They really care about the animals and there customers read more

*** FRAUD ALERT *** FRAUD ALERT *** Please read this before you buy ANYTHING from Puppies Plus. Phil sold us the wrong breed of dog!!! Then he LIED about it several times after the fact when he was asked about it during three different phone calls! Since the dog was $1600, that makes it GRAND LARSENY. A felony. He knew it was the wrong breed according to the paperwork which proves FRAUD. When I confronted him about it, he said I had to give the dog back if I wanted any sort of compensation. This is, of course, 7 weeks after getting the puppy. NOBODY is going to give back a puppy after 7 weeks. (If you can do that, you have a colder heart than I). So, basically, he duped us into a 15 year commitment. I will be initiating legal procedures against Puppies Plus as well as the employee I dealt with (Phil). My lawyer will probably instruct me against any further posts here but I think it's important for people to know what kind of people these are!! Oh, and he (Phil) also tried to tell me that he couldn't reach the breeder. What pet shop that sells puppies exclusively is gong to not be able to talk to the breeder??? That's obviously another LIE. I wrote a letter to the breeder and three days later we spoke on the phone. He has the phone number, he just hoped to get away with the fraud!! The puppy (although healthy now, thanks to our efforts) was sick when we got him. Since then I've heard of puppies coming out of that store with SEVERE PNEUMONIA and other illnesses. Also, the INSTANT response I got from Petco when I told them where we got the pup was "THOSE ARE PUPPY-MILL PUPPIES". Sales girls are very nice and helpful. Place is always clean and well kept. They explained how the puppies immune system is very sensitive and its important to make sure they aren't being exposed to anything that can get them sick. Although i wish we could pet and play with them all, it is understandable and shows how well they care for them. I bought my pup from here and she is the happiest girl! My husband and I fell in love with a certain dog a Shiba Inu . We wanted to hold her but was told you can only hold her if your going to buy her. We asked the price and they wanted $1580.00 (we can get them From a breeder for cheaper $800 or 1000). My husband and I went back just to see if she was still there, and we saw bugs eating the food that was on the floor and cockroaches running around. It looked like they were coming out of the vents. On June 9th we brought a American Cocker Spaniel from Puppies Plus in the Melbourne Mall for $1246.00. We brought him home at 8 PM and had quite a night of coughing and a terrible rattle in his chest. So the next morning I made an appointment for him to be checked for kennel cough which I felt he had. When we got to the vets they immediately took us and placed in a room so he would not contaminate the other dogs. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and bronchitis close to pneumonia and had to do a chest x-ray. He placed him on an antibiotic and we brought him back for a recheck in 10 days at which time he was improved, but still had some chest noise so he has another 10 days of antibiotics. When I purchased the puppy I had a paper to sign that if the dog needed care I could bring him to my vet (Suntree Animal Clinic) or their vet and be reimbursed up to $100.00. The next day I called the owner of Puppies Plus and told him how upset I was and how sick this puppy was and he told me all dogs have kennel cough and that I needed to bring the dog back and he would give me my money back and I told him "no". He then told me that I sounded very unhappy and I needed to bring the puppy back and that I chose to take him to my vet and that vets were vets, some are good and so are not and I told him who my vet was and that he knew there vet. He told me to bring in the paper that the vet had put the diagnoses on and that I had signed to be reimbursed and also the vets office visit which was $200.00. When I brought the paper and vets bill in I observed that there were other dogs there sick and of course no puppies were quarantined from one another so that this was how my puppy was ill. The owner was not there and they said just leave the papers and I would be reimbursed. Well it took another phone call to him and he made up there had been a misunderstanding and that I would be reimbursed. I finally got a check dated 6/20/15 for $15.00 which is only the cost of the antibiotic. I have contacted the Humane Society about this place and plan to pursue the rest of my money even if I need a lawyer as I did sign that paper which is supposedly legal. The people who work there lie & deceive you. I was told I could only look at puppy if I was going to buy it. Then I was told the puppy I wanted to look at was also sick. Needed to be on meds & could not be sold until after 2 wks was up. Then 2 days later the puppy was sold to someone else & taken home. So either they lied to me or they sold sick puppy to this other person. They just didn't care they just wanted to make money & know I wasn't going to pay them any money until the puppy was able to go home & was not sick anymore. For years and years i've always loved puppies plus i always stop by whenever i'm at the mall and the pups are always so adorable, two weeks ago we purchased our second puppy we felt that he needed a new home so we bought home our english sheep dog the girls there reassured us that he is not an aggressive dog and very loveable because we always have kids in the house . when he got home he was very timid quiet he seemed nervous but we just thought it was because he was getting used to the place. now bare in mind Puppies Plus has a 24 hour return policy which is ridiculous because how are you supposed to know how a puppy is like in 24 hours?... so after a day or two we started to see our pups true colors whenever we walk by him he growls very aggressively he has mauled not only my arm but my moms and my sisters. This behavior is NOT common for a sheepdog and he obviously had to fight for his food at puppies plus. I purchased a brand new Morkie puppy here in August 2013. I paid $1200 for her and expected to have many years with her. She was born in June of 2013 and it is now only May of 2014 and we will be needing to put her down. It turns out that the issues are conginental and/or hereditary. The store has given me two options: refund the money or give me a new puppy. I don't want a new puppy, I want my baby who I fell in love with. When I called the store to see if they had any information on the mother/father other than this useless paper pedigree they gave me, they said no. They said they wouldn't know if the parents any any of these issues. Great to hear. Through further research, I found out that they must partner with the Hunte Corporation as this is what is on the bottom of the pedigree. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PETSTORE. They adverties that they are a "mom and pop" shop but not once through all issues I have had, have I ever seen or spoken with the owner. My puppy had kennel cough when I first took her home. My husband and I have been wanting a Goldendoodle for a long time now and I've been doing a lot of research on them. We were thrilled when we found out that the pet store had one for $1000 cheaper than most breeders. We explained to the guy that we didn't have the money to purchase that day but will have the money within a month. At first, he said that we could only see the dog if we were going to purchase that day. My son is almost a year old and I wasn't sure how he would do with a puppy, so I wanted to know before making such a big decision in the near future. The guy finally let us see the dog but acted like we were wasting his time. The store was pretty empty and we were the only ones in a visiting booth. I think if the animals were affectionately cared for, he would have been happy that the dog was able to get out and play with a loving family. I love my baby girl more than anything. She was 11 weeks old when I purchased her. She is now 6 months old. Three days after I purchased her she had her first visit to the vet, she was extremely ill. She ended up having to be hospitalized for a week with pneumonia. You can imagine how much a Rottweiler in the puppy store costs. After over 1000$ in vet bills, one week in the hospital, force feeding, iv fluids, and tons of follow ups.. She is now healthy and extremely happy. It does not make it right to just let this go. According to the Florida lemon law the puppy store must pay the vet bills for the ill puppy up to the price of the dog. They refuse! I know my rights and I have every piece of paper work. I also have every conversation written down and proof too! It's horrible .. never mind who I spoke to there .. one day they say they are a manager and the next the owner who are professional enough once you get the statement of defect signed by a licensed vet that they gave you and refuse to pay, call you a liar and say you don't know what you're talking about. I sent it certified mail with a letter called them each step of the way to inform them of what was happening. Needless to say please don't buy a puppy mill puppy.
