During COVID, my partner and I did about a puzzle every week. We now have cases of puzzles that we did one time, then packed away! I brought a few, so we could swap them out for a few "easier" puzzles that my kids could do. It's such a cool idea and love it and came back with 3 kiddo options. The store is so wonderful, located right across the way from Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. All of the staff is not just incredibly friendly, but quick to offer advice on games and puzzles to take home. There is a room where you can attempt puzzles and games. We spent several hours here just enjoying all of the entertainment. It's a great rainy or snowy day activity. The bookstore just next door is a perfect pairing.

Toy Trains! Model Kits! And all the other art sets, car tracks, European and Japanese toys and "Stuff." You know how a modern store just has people behind the counter? Hobby Works has staff walking the floor to help you. And they really help. And they know their stuff. And when you're there, it's got that friendly clubhouse atmosphere like you stopped off here while walking home from school in the 6th grade. Sometimes it feels like with online shopping, kids won't ever experience the friendly local stores like we did. Not while Hobby Works is open, it's all modern, but it's a shopping experience that most stores lost over the years- and our kids deserve to experience that friendliness.

I arrive to the store and was charged $10 for entry (reasonable amount for event in question but advertised lower) and after I paid, I was told this event had a bunch of house rules and they banned half of my cards. For extra context, I was in the store 2 days prior and none of these house rules were mentioned when they told me about the event. Instead they posted these rules in their discord and never even told me about this server. TL:DR The employees themselves seem fine and nice, but whoever sets the prices and organizes events needs to do better.
